Tony, a second generation mold maker and entrepreneur, saw an opportunity to combine his love of the auto aftermarket industry and unique skill set to raise the bar and bring innovation to the air intake category. In 199 after much research, design and testing Volant Performance introduced a cuttingedge new intake format; the closed box air intake for the 1999 Chevrolet. With an advanced knowledge of mold making, Volant pioneered closedbox intake designs that offered a combination of benefits unparalleled in the industry; cold air separation, performance, aesthetics and durability. Innovation As the industry began to shift and evolve to more and more closed box intake designs, Volant didn t stand still and continued to offer new products and solutions that would further cement their position in the Truck, Jeep & SUV air intake market. Recognizing that the market was not yet providing all the tools necessary for the consumers to pursue added power and offroad capabilities Volant introduced new performance boosting accessories. In 200, Volant brought new means of generating power and offroad performance by creating unique snorkel applications for the OffRoad enthusiast that funneled added cold clean air from an elevated position outside the vehicle allowing the offroad enthusiast the ability to tackle deep river crossings or mud holes with an unimpeded cold air supply. Air Filtration The Difference By 200 the air intake marketplace was flooded with closed box air intake designs and that single design attribute no longer provided a unique selling proposition to the marketplace. Volant began to look for real differentiation and found it by means of filtration in Donaldson s air filter. Donaldson air filters had already made their aftermarket debut after long standing success in military and Class (semitruck) industry and had recently become standard equipment on General Motors premiere products such as the GM Duramax, H2 Hummer, C Corvette as well as Ford s Fseries diesel truck offering. After a lengthy negotiation, Donaldson and Volant entered into a long term agreement that allowed Volant to offer Donaldson s unique filtration technologically to the larger auto aftermarket industry.
