2 This weekend the Porsche Carrera Cup GB makes its debut at the famous Monza in Italy. Nationwide is sponsoring Championship leader Dino Zamparelli in the familiar orange, blue, and white machine. Dino is a two-time runner up in the series and last season finished equal on points with the champion, only missing out by virtue of race wins. With Nationwide backing Tim Harvey and Dan Cammish to four titles, two each, Dino is definitely in good hands and we are sure with your support he will be right at the front of the field. Last year we welcomed over 3,000 Nationwide Team members, their friends and families, and our customers to race meetings across the country. We are delighted you re following the team this weekend! 3 View from the cockpit We were close to the win in race one at Donington Park and we were fast, but not fast enough overall. We got the fastest lap but working on how I can improve on that is something I have to do with the team at Nationwide Accident Repairs and Redline Racing. Monza is a big, wide-open circuit. It is fast, straight-line speed is important, and it is all about braking zones: getting the car stopped and out of the corners. I m excited to see how we get on as I ve never been around there in a Porsche. FP1 will be the first time so I am looking forward to attacking it and seeing what it brings. I know the circuit well from my time in GP3 so that will definitely help but it is a different ball game in the Porsche. It s a bigger and heavier car so we ll see how it plays out and we look forward to challenging there. I hope you enjoy your time at the circuit and hopefully I can give you something to celebrate about on track! It is definitely a boost to know so many Nationwiders will be on hand to cheer me on. 5 Spectator guide There is something special in the air as you enter the Parco di Monza. History seems to live and breathe in the trees which mask the legendary Autodromo Nazionale Monza. The circuit is easily served by Milan, as well as Bergamo and Como, providing a number of places to stay and make the most of your visit to Northern Italy. For the European Le Mans Series weekend you should be able to park directly at the circuit, otherwise regular trains serve Monza from Milan and local bus services will transport you to the circuit (it is too far to sensibly recommend walking from the town). You ll also want to save your energy for the circuit itself it is impossible to recommend one place to begin. Heading against the direction of cars on track, cross under the main straight into the paddock areas, turn right and you ll be able to walk right around the inside of the Parabolica, where cars scramble for grip heading onto the main straight. After zig-zagging a little to cross under the short circuit link road, you can re-join by the Variante Ascari, walking under the old banking towards the Lesmo corners where you can almost touch the cars. It is possible to continue right around the circuit to the first chicane, though you ll have to delve back into the park to cross under the banking, this time on the old Pirelli test track.. Tip: Why not enjoy the Porsche Carrera Cup GB action from one of the circuit grandstands, and walk the hallowed grounds of the park during the ELMS four-hour race? Bring your radio or smartphone and you can enjoy commentary while exploring. Did you know? 7 Each year the Nationwide Race Hub proves to be a popular location for Nationwiders and race fans. It returns even bigger in 2018 with a host of interesting activities and offers. Anyone attending as a guest of Nationwide must sign in at the Race Hub and while there can try their hand on the Nationwide Porsche Simulator.
