PRESBYTERIAN COLLEGE BLUE HOSE (18-22, 6-9 Big South) vs. FURMAN PALADINS (18-24, 7-14 Southern) Probable Starters RHP Matt Nodelman (1-0, 3.57 ERA) LHP Nate Smith (3-4, 6.52 ERA) Live video available on the Big South Network Back at the Plex The Presbyterian College baseball team (18-22, 6-9 Big South) wraps up a four-game homestand on Wednesday afternoon with a 3 p.m. contest against the Furman Paladins (18-24, 7-14 Southern). The Blue Hose have won four of their last five games and will look for a measure of revenge against the Paladins, as Furman handed PC a 7-5 loss in Greenville on February 21. The Blue Hose enter Wednesday after taking the first and final games of a home series against Charleston Southern. Series History PC will face the Paladins in the 88th meeting between the two sides. The Blue Hose trail in the alltime series, , after dropping a 7-5 contest earlier this season. Brandon Paul went 2-for-4 in the effort while Andrew Williams, Tony Micklon, Robby Swab and Cam McRae each picked up an RBI. The result gave Furman its second straight win over PC for the first time since the 2009 season. Scouting the Paladins Furman fell to East Tennessee State on Tuesday night by a 14-2 margin. The Paladins have compiled an record on the year with a 7-14 marker in the Southern Conference after Appalachian State swept the Paladins in a three-game series over the weekend. Furman grabbed a 5-4 road win over Georgia on Wednesday and are led by Will Owens.344 average and Will Miller s eight home runs. On the Mound Matt Nodelman will make his second career start on Wednesday after rain washed out his projected start against NC Central last week. Nodelman, a senior, picked up his first career win on April 10 with four innings of onehit relief in which he allowed only one unearned run. Nodelman has apperaed in nine games this season, maintaining a 3.57 earned run average. Last Time Out PC went 2-1 last week after rain washed out a Wednesday game against NC Central. The Blue Hose took the first and final games of a series against Charleston Southern (2-1, 6-3) and dropped the Saturday game in ten innings, 7-4. Gabe Grammer picked up a save and went.500 at the plate (6- for-12) with three RBI. Billy Motroni went 6-for-12 as well while Kenny Bryant hit his team-leading Next Up for the Blue Hose... PC hits the road for a seven-game road stretch, its longest of the 2012 season. The Blue Hose head to Radford this weekend before taking a break from Big South play next weekend with a three-game series at Central Florida.

The senior s previous best came in 2010, when he hit.276. He has also already set a new career high in doubles for a season (13) and he leads the team in RBI (27), home runs (seven), slugging percentage (.556). He has also committed only two errors at first base while registering 305 putouts. Newcomer Robby Swab has also done well in his first season since transferring from Young Harris College, hitting.327 at the plate and posting a.419 on-base percentage. Grammer Time With seven saves in 15 appearances this season, Gabe Grammer has set a new PC Division I record for most saves in a season by eclipsing Chandler Knox s four saves in Grammer also made his first career pitching start on March 28 against Clemson one to remember, holding the Tigers to two hits in six innings for his first career win. n the March 4 game against Davidson, Grammer hit a double in the top of the ninth before securing the save in the bottom of the frame. Seven of PC s eight runs came with two outs. Grammer allowed one run and two hits in six innings and the senior also matched a career high with three strikeouts. Freshman Michael Ricchi locked up his first career save with 1.2 innings of two-hit, one run relief. There Can Be Only One PC swept the NJIT Highlanders in a three-game series on March 10 and 11, picking up wins of 6-1, 7-1 and 4-3. Nate Chong went 5-for-9 over the series (.556 batting average) and drove in three RBI. Nine different Blue Hose drove in runs against NJIT and Chandler Knox, Bud Jeter and Chad Sanders all picked up wins. Plucking the Eagles PC topped North Carolina Central in a pitchers duel on Wednesday, edging the Eagles by a 3-1 margin. PC s effective pitching held the Eagles to only one run, allowing the visitors four hits and three runs to hold up as the winning difference. Kenny Bryant drove in PC s lone RBI on his second home run of the season. Sultan Of Ping Sophomore C/1B Brad Zebedis will look to build on a record-setting freshman year. The Blue Hose slugger enters the campaign the Big South Conference Preseason Player of the Year and College Baseball Insider, Louisville Slugger and NCBWA Preseason All-American. Zebedis captured Big South Conference Freshman of the Year honors, a First Team All-Big South selection and a slew of All-American accolades from Collegiate Baseball, ABCA, Baseball America and the NCBWA after he hit a Big South Conference freshman-record.425 batting average and tied a league freshman mark with 13 homers. He also led the Big South in batting average, slugging percentage (.717) and onbase percentage (.492) while ranking in the top five in hits (90), RBI (57), doubles (23), home runs (13) and total bases (152). Senior Wisdom The team returns seven starters and a dozen players who will play their final season for PC in Six of the team s seven starters in the field last season will leave the program after this year in Tony Micklon, Gabe Grammer, Kenny Bryant, Andrew Williams, John Wagner and Tyler Hill.
