5 1 explanation of the symbols 5 Please take note of the following explanations of the symbols used in order to achieve the optimum benefit from this manual and to ensure safety during operation of the equipment. The following symbol draws your attention to a circumstance where nonobservation of the warning could lead to inconvenience or impairment in the performance. Example: This connection must not be confused with the EUT power input. The following symbol draws your attention to a circumstance where nonobservation of the warning could lead to component damage or danger to the operating personnel. Example: Never connect or disconnect the EUT while the test system is performing a test.

6 6 2 safety instructions The NSG 3000 generator series with its accessories operates at high voltages.. Improper or careless operation can be fatal! These operating instructions form an essential part of the equipment and must be available to the operator at all times. All the safety instructions and advice notes are to be observed. The safety advice referring to the generators also applies and must be met when using the instruments together with accessories. Neither Teseq AG, Luterbach, Switzerland, nor any of the subsidiary sales organisations can accept any liability for personal, material or consequential injury, loss or damage that may result from improper use of the equipment and accessories. Use of the generator is restricted to authorized and trained specialists. The generators with its accessories are to be used only for the purpose set down by the manufacturer. The user is directly responsible for ensuring that the test rig does not cause excessive radiated interference which could affect other instrumentation. The test system itself does not produce any excessive EM radiation. However, the injection of interference pulses into a EUT can result in it and/or its associated cables radiating electromagnetic radiation. To avoid problems with unwanted radiation the standards organisations recommend that the test rig is operated inside a Faraday cage. INA Warning lamp system for NSG 3000 series

7 Because of its type of construction the instrument is not suitable for use in an explosive atmosphere. 7 Persons fitted with a heart pacemaker must not operate the instrument nor approach the test rig while a test is being executed. Only approved accessory items, connectors, adapters, etc. are to be used to ensure save operation. Connect the EUT only after the initial system self test has finished.

8 8 3 INA Description of INA 3001 INA 3001 is a double warning lamp system -(2 colors) designed as accessories for the Teseq NSG 3000 series. INA 3001 uses low consumption and high reliability LED technology, directly powered by the NSG 3000 interface. No additional external power supply is required. The orange lamp lights up when EUT power is ON. The red lamp lights up when high voltage is active. INA 3001 comes with professional stand and rubber feet, 2 meter cable and system interface plug to be connected to NSG 3000 series system interface. INA Warning lamp system for NSG 3000 series

9 INA 3001 requires NSG 3000 series to run under FW revision V 2.31 or higher. In case of older revisions the NSG 3000 needs to be upgraded. This can be done by the end user see instructions and FW files on the delivered WIN 3000 CD Installation and connection to NSG 3000 series INA 3001 is to be connected to the system interface OUT plug of NSG 3040 or NSG 3060 series generators, this is the point where usually the Interlock plug gets connected. In case of several units are linked together in the NSG 3000 series system interface daisy chain, the INA 3001 shall be connected to the last unit in the chain. 3.3 Interlock connection When the external interlock activation needs to be used together with the INA 3001 warning lamps, both connections need to be made at the same system interface plug. For this open the 25 way Sub D plug housing, remove interlock bridge (see picture below) and connect the interlock channel to this place. Make sure the wiring is made in the state of the art. A shielded cable is recommended, the shield must be contacted to the plug housing in order to ensure proper imunity against electromagnetic noise. Interlock bridge

12 5 maintenance and warranty 5.1 Maintenance Maintenance by the user is restricted to visual inspection, cleaning the outer housing and performing a function check. 5.2 Cleaning In general a moist cloth is sufficient for cleaning the outer housing. If necessary add a small amount of a mild, non-foaming household cleanser. No chemicals (acid, etc) should be used for cleaning purposes. Before beginning to clean the test system ensure that it is switched off and the mains power cable is unplugged from the supply. 5.3 Warranty Teseq grants a warranty of 24 months against material and manufacturing faults. The warranty does not cover damages due to transportation, poor packaging, and those damages caused through use of the equipment for unforeseen purposes and the effects of physical force. 5.4 Shipping Always use original Teseq packaging, make sure the various warning labels for delicate instruments are well visible.
