SERIES ADMINISTARTION 1.1 ADMINISTRATIVE CONTROL The Qatar Drift Championship is a wholly owned subsidiary of Qatar Racing Club 1.2 OFFICIAL MEETINGS A Qatar Racing Club representative shall be present at any official meeting, or hearing, involving interpretation or implementation of this rulebook or the operation and business matters of Qatar Drift championship in general. 1.3 ACKNOWLEDGEMENT OF RULES Every person, entity, group of persons, who seeks approvals for, and is granted the right to participate at a Qatar Drift Championship event, and any person who receives a QRC license, warrants that: He/She is acquainted with the series rules. He/She agrees without reservation to abide by the series rules. He/She renounces the right to have legal recourse, except with the written consent of QRC, to any arbitrator, or tribunal, not provided for in the rules. 1.4 INTERPRETATION AND APPLICATION OF RULES Qatar Drift Championship officials shall make the final interpretation and application of the rules. Their decisions shall be final and binding. In order to promote the sport of automotive competition, to achieve prompt finality in competition results, and in consideration of the numerous benefits to them, all participants and entrants, (including competitors and officials) expressly agree that: Qatar Drift Championship reserves the right to amend, or modify, the rules at any time. It is up to the competitor to stay upto date with these rules and regulations. 2.CODE OF CONDUCT DRIVER / TEAM APPEARANCE Drivers and Teams must be clean and presentable at all times. Driver uniforms must comply with these regulations and must be free of wear and damage. Driver Uniform must include the driver s name in an easily visible location. Driver and team uniforms must have all required series patches in the specified location and must include the team logo and/or team name. Only uniformed team members are allowed in hot areas including the grid. 2.1 CODE OF CONDUCT All drivers and teams must keep safety and professionalism in mind at all times, and is aware of their surrounding environment, personnel, actions, behavior, vehicles and equipment. Qatar Racing Club reserves the right to deem what actions or conditions constitute violation of this policy. Negligence of any kind or violation of any safety matter will not be tolerated. 2.2 DEMANOUR TOWARDS OFFICIALS, STAFF AND JUDGES Every Qatar Drift Championship competition driver and team member has the right to ask questions and rationally discuss with the officials and/or judges, any issue pertaining to their performance, race operations, or the judging format. Any driver and/or team member that conducts him/herself in an inappropriate manner with the official judges will be subject to the same penalties as listed above. 2.3 APPLICATION OF CODE OF CONDUCT Code of Conduct rules apply during the course of any Qatar Drift Championship activity, including but not limited to test days, set up times, official meetings, press conferences, public appearances, conventions, competition events and demonstration events. 2.4 THE DRIVER Is responsible for his representatives, team, crew, and guest conduct at all times during the course of any Qatar Drift Championship activity, event or function. Drivers, crew and others representing a driver and/or team are to act in a professional manner. 2.5 DISCIPLINARY ACTION BREACH of RULES In addition to any other offenses listed herein, the following actions shall be deemed a breech of the RULES: 3

4 Any action having as its objective participation in the competition by a person, or automobile, known to be ineligible. Participation in any proceeding, or action, prejudicial to the interests of Qatar Drift Championship, or of automobile competition generally. Reckless, or dangerous, driving. Failure to obey direction, or orders, of a race official. Refusing to cooperate with, interfering with, or obstructing the action of the officials, CHIEF STEWARD, or others in the performance of their duties. Violation of the terms of probation. Unsportsmanlike conduct. Physical contact with intention to harm any participant, or official, or the threat of same. Inappropriate, objectionable, threatening, or profane language, and/or gestures. Failure to allow inspection, or disassembly, of an automobile as directed by the Scrutineer, or the chief steward. In cases of extreme misconduct, Qatar Racing Club reserves the right to take any other action deemed necessary. 2.6 PENALTIES Any participant, official, entrant, or other person violating these rules, or the Supplementary Regulations, or any conditions related to the event, or any special rules of a course, may be penalized as provided by the Qatar Drift Championship Rules and Regulations. The authority to assess penalties is not limited to violations occurring during the course of a racing competition. Before imposing any penalty, the CHIEF STEWARD, or his designee, shall investigate any alleged rules violations and collect, or hear, such evidence as deemed necessary at his discretion. 2.7 DISQUALIFICATION Any entrant or driver who is disqualified in any competition shall automatically forfeit all rights to awards in that competition. Probation of Qatar Racing Club competition privileges. 2.8 PROBATION OF DRIVER The terms of probation shall be in writing and signed by the CHIEF STEWARD. A copy shall be given to the driver, or entrant, or other person penalized, and Qatar Drift Championship shall retain a copy. copy of the termination of probation. Probation will be recorded in the driver s file. Suspension of Qatar Drift Championship privileges 2.10 SUSPENSION OF DRIVING The CHIEF STEWARD may impose suspension of competition privileges for a maximum of twelve (12) months. Delay in surrendering in a license as directed shall automatically result in the extension of the suspension by a period equal to the delay. When a penalty of suspension is levied, the penalized driver must immediately surrender his Pro competition license(s) to the CHIEF STEWARD, as directed. Loss of points 2.11 SUSPENSION EXPULSIONS The CHIEF STEWARD may impose a loss of event points and/or accrued points including manufacturer, rookie. Expulsion Consecutive penalties may be imposed (e.g., two 30-day suspensions resulting in a total suspension of 60 days). Combinations of penalties may be assessed (e.g., a fine and a points penalty, etc.) RANGE OF PENALTIES The CHIEF STEWARD has the right to impose any penalty, combination of penalties or action he/she feels is appropriate PUBLICATION OF PENALTY Qatar Drift Championship shall have the right to publicize that it has penalized any person, organization, or automobile, and the reasons therefore. The persons, or body referred to in the notice shall have no right of action against Qatar Drift Championship, or against any person publishing such notice ENTRIES All entrants must follow the official Qatar Racing Club entry forms and/or processes for each event. An entry made, and accepted, in accordance with these regulations, and any relevant Supplementary Regulations, shall constitute a contract, binding an entrant to take part in the competition entered unless prevented by forces beyond his control. A breach of such contract may be treated as a breach of these regulations. 2.9 PROBATION TERMS The notice and terms of probation provided for in paragraph above shall be sent within seven (7) days after probation has been imposed. Upon the termination of probation, the CHIEF STEWARD shall send a 4

GENERAL SERIES REGULATIONS 3.1 OFFICIALS Every Qatar Drift Championship event must be staffed with individuals, agents, or affiliates assigned by Qatar Racing Club to operate the event (OFFICIALS), or their substitutes as approved by Qatar Racing Club. The staff of OFFICIALS, whose duty it shall be to direct the control of the event will include: - Chief Steward - Judge - Scrutineer(s) - Starter - Registrar - Marshalls They shall be termed officials and may have assistants, also termed officials, to whom any of their duties may be delegated. They will be available in their roles from before the on-track scheduled sessions until after all events and resulting official actions are complete, except as excused by the CHIEF STEWARD. No OFFICIAL shall have a direct conflict of interest arising from direct involvement or connection with the organizers, affiliates, teams, drivers, officials or sponsors of an event, which, at the sole discretion of the President of Qatar Racing Club, may affect his ability to impartially perform his duties, or with any entrant or driver taking part. In addition no every OFFICIAL shall endeavor to conduct himself according to the highest standards of behavior. Failure to do so may result in loss of Official appointment for the event, or penalty, as determined by Qatar Drift Championship. JUDGE Judges are exclusively and responsible only to determine scores and points signed to individual or team competitors based on the competition criteria determined by Qatar Drift Championship Judges shall finish and distribute results of all qualifying sessions and races, as well as any special requests (i.e. timed practice sessions, etc.). Judges or other entities as assigned by Qatar Drift Championship will maintain records of official times, qualifying records, lap charts, and race results for all events. Judges or other entities as assigned by Qatar Drift Championship will also compile and distribute official results (after notification that all protests are completed and that the CHIEF STEWARD has declared the results official ) for all qualification periods and races. SCRUTINEER The Qatar Drift Championship Scrutineer (including any of his designees) is the authority in determining and enforcing technical regulations. Their decisions are non-protestable and they have the authority to amend and/or add to the rules and to make adjustments to car specifications on the spot, if deemed necessary. Teams will be notified of any changes made at the track by written bulletin when possible. The Scrutineer may order the inspection and disassembly of any entered automobile to ascertain its conformance with the rules at any time. The Scrutineer shall make a report to the CHIEF STEWARD of any automobile that does not conform to the requirements of the Rules and specifications of the Series. In the event of an infraction, it is the duty of the CHIEF STEWARD to take appropriate action as provided for in these regulations. OFFICIALS whose actions are deemed by Qatar Racing Club to be against the best interests of Qatar Drift Championship shall not be permitted to participate in any event. CHIEF STEWARD The CHIEF STEWARD shall be the executive responsible for the general conduct of all aspects of competition and operations at an event for which he has been assigned including conduct of participants and OFFICIALS, safety issues, course design, technical regulations, judging, application of the Qatar Drift Championship Rules and Regulations, and compliance to external rules and regulations. He/She shall ensure that all provisions of these rules, and where sanctioned, the FIA Code or other sanctioning body code, are conformed to. All OFFICIALS report to the CHIEF STEWARD. The Scrutineer shall ensure that all Driver Safety Equipment is in conformance with the Rules. The Scrutineer has the right of first refusal. If a team interprets a rule in such a way as to prepare a car beyond the intent of the rule, the Scrutineer may disallow the preparation and issue an immediate clarification. STARTER The Starter shall oversee the start of all competition vehicles during each competition. On the understanding that track safety shall remain the first and foremost priority, and taking into consideration the status of judging activities, course conditions and driver preparations, the Starter shall ensure the equitable, smooth and timely start of as many competition vehicles as possible. At the same time, the 5

6 Starter shall inform the chief steward of any behavior by drivers when in their starting positions that contravenes competition rules and regulations. Furthermore, the Starter shall measure the time available to each driver competing under the Twin format for preparation and maintenance and relay this information to the chief steward. 3.2 SERIES IDENTIFICATION All required decals, patches, emblems and logos must be properly displayed as outlined in Appendix D. Qatar Drift Championship must approve the use, in any way, of any Qatar Drift Championship identification, mark, logo or other intellectual property outside of an official Qatar Drift Championship event. The unauthorized use of any Qatar Drift Championship, Qatar Racing Club identification, marks, logos, likenesses, or other intellectual property may result in penalties, fines, disqualification, or legal action. 3.3 REGISTRATION Registration is done under the direction of the REGISTRAR. Registration is on a first come first serve basis and can only be done so through Qatar Racing Club at the registration booth. Qatar Drift Championship may establish a maximum allowable number of entries or entry deadlines per event REGISTERED DRIVERS/ VEHICLES A driver may change to an alternate vehicle once during the event, which must be declared prior to leaving the start line for their first qualifying lap. The car cannot be changed during eliminations mid bracket of a top 16/32. A driver may qualify in one car and twin battle in another car should their car fail. Applies to the Pro Class outlined in the event supplemental regulations. Drivers must be suited. Failure of any driver will be exclusion from the event. 3.5 GENERAL PIT, PADDOCK, AND COURSE RULES All mechanics working in an area that is designated as pit area must be adequately attired (closed-toe shoes, long pants, and sleeved shirts) at all times during practice, qualifying, and the race. Only race team personnel with an event designated pass will be allowed access to the restricted areas as defined. The CHIEF STEWARD or his/her delegate is the supreme authority in enforcing pit lane, paddock, course or other operational rules or procedures. The CHIEF STEWARD may order any car removed from the course if, in his/her judgment, it constitutes a hazard to other competitors because of fluid spillage, or any other reason. In the event that loss of bodywork is a safety hazard, the car may be removed from the course. Cars competing in a race with bodywork missing may be penalized. Refueling of cars is prohibited in the Pre-Grid, Grid or Start areas, or as otherwise specified. 3.6 CHANGES TO RULES AND SPECIFICATIONS Qatar Drift Championship reserves the right to change any rule, regulation, or specification by written bulletin. These bulletins will be posted in the bulletin post at the end of this document and on The Qatar Drift Championship Scrutineer has the authority to make adjustments to safety specifications at any time if deemed necessary. Teams are responsible to ensure they conform to the current rules or bulletins. Requests for rule changes from participants are welcomed and must be received at least 14-days prior to the requested effective date. 3.4 DRIVERS BRIEFING Qatar Drift Championship OFFICIALS will conduct various meetings with the drivers and crew chiefs/team managers throughout the course of an event. This may be a single meeting, or separate meetings and sufficient notifications will be made through the Supplemental Regulations or by other notice. All will be briefed on the rules governing the competition and specifically, any new rules, or regulations, pertaining to the competition. Drivers and/or Crew chief attendance is mandatory for their respective meetings as 4.PROTESTS 4.1INFORMAL INQUIRY Prior to lodging a formal protest, participants are encouraged to attempt to resolve their disputes informally. Immediately upon acquiring knowledge of facts that could potentially be the subject of a dispute, affected parties may verbally notify a Qatar Drift Championship official of these facts. The official 6

7 will determine the appropriate response will attempt to respond immediately, but may defer the issue to the CHIEF STEWARD. It may be necessary to defer any decision or response and participants should not always expect an immediate resolution. Informal Inquiry shall in no way interfere with the duties of the OFFICIAL, or the operation or safety of the event or other participants. Every protest shall be made in writing specifying which part of the Qatar Drift Championship Rules & Regulations has been violated, signed by the entrant or driver making the protest. Notes for protest; All protests shall be made to the CHIEF STEWARD only. A protest against an entry, validity of an entrant or driver, or a vehicle s eligibility shall be made no later than 4 hours before the start of the qualifying round. A protest against a mistake or irregularity occurring during competition shall be made within 15 minutes of the action in question. A protest against the results of the competition shall be made within 30 minutes of the end of that session. A protest against any other action of an official shall be made within 30 minutes of the action. Judges scores are not protestable. notification of a protest does not guarantee that the CHIEF STEWARD will hear the argument within 15 minutes of battle the battle and before the next bracket of battles. 5.1 EVENT REGISTRATION (APPLIES TO ALL CLASSES) Prior to the first time a car is entered into any event for the current season, the Scrutineer will issue a Qatar Racing Club Vehicle ID number/sticker and conduct an event based logging of each car. Upon verification of conformance to the rules, an event tech sticker will be issued and affixed to the windscreen. Only cars that have passed tech and have an event tech sticker affixed, will be allowed to compete unless approved by the Scrutineer and series CHIEF STEWARD. To be eligible for competition in an EVENT, all vehicles must have: Qatar Racing Club Vehicle ID Number An event Technical Inspection Sticker Current Valid Professional or Provisional License 5.2 EVENT INSPECTION (APPLIES TO ALL CLASSES) All vehicles must register in order to go out onto the track HEARING PROTESTS The CHIEF STEWARD, or his/her designee, shall hear the protest and render a decision as soon as possible. The CHIEF STEWARD will attempt to give all interested parties an opportunity to comment or provide input. The CHIEF STEWARD s decision is final. Protests are expected to be well founded, reasonable, logical, and based on sound evidence. A well-founded protest may still be denied. 5. TECHNICAL INSPECTION Technical inspection applies to all classes, please read through this carefully as it will determine which class you will fall into. Under each heading it will state, the class the particular requirement applies to. During each event, the Scrutineer or his/her assigned representative, will conduct random inspections of any entered vehicles. All cars will be thoroughly checked at technical inspection booth and given an event Tech Pass sticker. Any car which after being issued a Technical Inspection Sticker by the Scrutineer is dismantled, or modified, or in any way changed which might affect its safety, or call into question its eligibility, or which is involved in an accident with similar consequences, must be re-presented by the team for approval. It is the responsibility of the team to notify the Scrutineer of any modifications. If a vehicle is damaged due to an accident or other incident, the Scrutineer may remove the event tech sticker. A new tech sticker may be issued after the vehicle is re-inspected or repaired and then re- inspected. It is the responsibility of the team to notify the Scrutineer of any and all damage. 7

8 5.3 REQUIRED SAFETY EQUIPMENT Occupant Safety Equipment (APPLIES TO ALL CLASSES) seats must be of a fixed bucket seat type and be FIA Approved. (Dates are not an issue) Seat Support (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) Each occupant must wear the following equipment during all on-track sessions: Helmet All occupants must wear a safety helmet during on-track sessions. Only helmets certified to meet the following standards are permitted: Snell Memorial Foundation - SA2000, SA2005 SFI Foundation - Spec 31.2, Spec 31.2A Seat supports shall be of the type listed on FIA technical list (lateral, bottom, etc). Welded direct or bolted into seat rails. All to be solid mounted and no give in the SEAT Harness (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) Full-Faced helmets are required. (APPLIES TO ALL CLASSES) Hair protruding from beneath a driver s helmet must be completely covered by fire- resistant material. Drivers with facial hair must wear face shields of fire-resistant material (i.e. balaclava or helmet skirt). All cars are to have a minimum 4 Point Harness and to be FIA Approved. All harness attachments are to be attached to eyebolts and positioned in the same locations and angles as below. Accident-damaged helmets shall be given, or sent, by the driver, or his representative, to Drift Allstars. It will be forwarded to the certifying organization for inspection. Details of the accident should be included Driving Suit (APPLIES TO ALL CLASSES) One-piece driving suits are required and must be made of fire-resistant material and certified to SFI spec 3/2A-5 or greater, or homologated to FIA 2000 specs, which effectively covers the body, including neck, ankles and wrists. Multi-layer driving suits are recommended. Fire-resistant underwear is recommended Gloves, Shoes and Socks are required. (APPLIES TO ALL CLASSES) Socks must be made of fire resistant material. Shoes and gloves must be made of leather, or any other approved fire-resistant material and must be free of holes, tears or other openings except those made by the manufacturer of the equipment Seats (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) All cars must have at least two seats, one for the driver, and one for a passenger. Each of the two required Eye bolts are required for harness mounts but if standard eye bolts are not used, any extra mounts must be of a plate type with a welded captive 7/16 UNF nut.the plate must be minimum of 25cm squared (5x5cm) 3mm thick, the plate must be fully welded on the underside of the vehicle body, so as to trap the floorpan between the plate and the eyebolt. 8

9 5.3.9 HEAD RESTRAINTS (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) 5.4 ROLL CAGES SPECIFICATIONS A system of head restraints to prevent whiplash and rebound and also to prevent the occupant s head from striking the underside of the main hoop shall be installed on all vehicles. Racing seats with integral headrests shall also meet this requirement and have a support to the main hoop. The head restraint on non-integral seats shall have a minimum area of thirty-six (36) square inches and be padded with a non- resilient material such as Ethafoam Ensolite, or other similar material with a minimum thickness of one (1) inch. Padding meeting SFI spec 45.1 is recommended. Hans-Devices are also highly recommended. These must be solid mounted As the regulations develop constantly over the next few years we want to make sure we have the highest level of safety available in this sport to make sure constant levels of safety are attained. The purpose of the rollcage is to protect the occupant if the car turns over, runs into an obstacle, or is struck by another car. It shall be designed to withstand compression forces from the weight of the car coming down on the rollover structure, and to take fore/aft and lateral loads resulting from the car skidding along on its rollover structure. forward braces and portions of the main hoop subject to contact with the occupants helmet (as seated normally and restrained by harness/seatbelt) shall be padded with a non- resilient material. Ethafoam or ensolite, or other similar material with a minimum thickness of 1 2 inch. (12.7mm) and conforming to SFI spec 45.1 is required. Bolt in roll cages are not allowed. The anchor pickup points for the HELMET and the HANS device labeled on number 3 are the only areas where it must be attached to the helmet. This can all be checked at pre-season logging day ROLL CAGE SPECIFICATIONS (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASS) All roll cages can be either MIG or TIG welded. All welds must show good signs of penetration and all tubes must be fully welded 360 degrees. All welds will be inspected for quality TOLERANCES (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASS) Tube diameter will have a tolerance of +/- 1mm Wall thickness of the tube will have a tolerance of -0.25mm THE SCRUTINEER CAN AND WILL DRILL HOLES IN ROLLCAGES TO INSPECT TUBE THICKNESS, AT ANY TIME BENDS (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASS) All bends must show no signs of crimping, or wall failure. All bends should be produced by a roller draw 9

10 or mandrel type bender. The radius of bends in the rollcage hoop will be no less than three times the diameter of the tubing. All sections of the rollcage must be constructed from one continuous piece of tubing. Lateral Rollbar (D253-2) PROTECTIVE PADDING (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASS) Where the occupants body can come into contact with the safety cage a flame retardant padding must be provided for protection. Where the occupants crash helmet could come into contact with the safety cage, the padding must comply with FIA Standard type A and must be permanently fixed to the cage DEFINITIONS OF THE CAGE Multi tubular structure installed in the cockpit and fitted close to the body shell the function of which is to reduce the deformation of the body shell (chassis) in case of impact. Roll bar Tubular frame forming a hoop with two mounting feet. Main Rollbar (D253-1) Transverse and near vertical (maximum angle +/- 10 to the vertical) single piece tubular hoop located across the vehicle behind the front seats. Tube axis must be within one plane. Near - longitudinal and near vertical single piece tubular hoop located along the right or left side of the vehicle, the front pillar of which follows the windscreen pillar and the rear pillar of which is near-vertical and located just behind the front seats. The rear pillar must be straight in side view. In order to build the safety cage, the connections of the transverse members to the lateral rollbars, the connections of the longitudinal members to the front and main rollbars, as well as the connection of a semi-lateral rollbar to the main rollbar must be situated at the roof level. In all cases, there must not be more than 4 removable connections at the roof level. The backstays must be attached near the roofline and near the top outer bends of the main rollbar, on both sides of the car, possibly by means of removable connections. They must form an angle of at least 30 with the vertical, must run rearwards and be straight and as close as possible to the interior side panels of the bodyshell Diagonal member The cage must have two diagonal members on the main rollbar according to Drawing Members must be straight and may be removable. The lower end of the diagonal must join the main rollbar no further than 100 mm from the mounting foot (see Drawing for the measurement). The upper end of the diagonal must join the main rollbar no further than 100 mm from its junction with the backstay Basic Structure (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASS) The basic structure must be made according to one of the following designs: * 1 main rollbar + 1 front rollbar + 2 longitudinal members + 2 backstays + 6 mounting feet (Drawing 253-1) or * 2 lateral 11

12 Doorbars Drawings may be anyone of the combinations below The design must be identical on both sides. The side protection must be as high as possible, but its upper attachment point must not be higher than half the height of the door opening measured from its base. If these upper attachment points are located in front of or behind the door opening, this height limitation is also valid for the corresponding intersection of the strut and the door opening. In the case of doorbars in the form of an "X" (Drawing 253-9), it is recommended that the lower attachment points of the cross-struts be fixed directly onto the longitudinal member of the bodyshell/chassis and that at least one part of the "X" be a single-piece bar. The connection of the doorbars to the windscreen pillar reinforcement (Drawing ) is authorised Windscreen Pillar Reinforcement It must be fitted on each side of the front rollbar if dimension "A" is greater than 200 mm (Drawing ). It may be bent on condition that it is straight in side view and that the angle of the bend does not exceed 20. Its upper end must be less than 100 mm from the junction between the front (lateral) rollbar and the longitudinal (transverse) member (see Drawing for the measurement). co-drivers, in the case of Drawing only, only one diagonal member may be fitted but its front connection must be on the driver s side. The ends of the reinforcements must be less than 100 mm from the junction between rollbars and members (not applicable to the top of the V formed by reinforcements in Drawings and ). Its lower end must be less than 100 mm from the (front) mounting foot of front (lateral) rollbar Roof Reinforcement The upper part of the safety cage must comply with one of Drawings , and The reinforcements may follow the curve of the roof. For competitions without Backstay Diagonals The configuration of Drawing may be replaced with that of Drawing if a roof reinforcement complying with Drawing is used. 12

13 Front Suspension mounting points The extensions must be connected to the front suspension top mounting points Transverse members (Drawings to ) Transverse members fitted on the main rollbar or between the backstays may be used for the safety harness mountings in accordance with Article For members shown on Drawings and , the angle between the central leg and the vertical must be at least 30. The transverse member fixed to the front rollbar must not encroach upon the space reserved for the occupants. It may be placed as high as possible but its lower edge must not be higher than the uppermost point of the dashboard Reinforcement of bends or junctions (Drawings to ) Reinforcements must be made of tubes or bent-sheet metal with U shape complying with Article The thickness of the components forming a reinforcement must not be less than 1.0 mm. The ends of the tubular reinforcements must not be more than half way down or along the members to which they are attached, except for those of the junction of the front rollbar, which may join the junction of the door strut/front rollbar. 13

14 Cage Reinforcements 2 Additional Constraints shock absorbers). Supplementary reinforcements exceeding these limits are authorised between the safety cage and the anchorage points of the rear antiroll bars on the bodyshell/chassis. Tow apparatus must be painted YELLOW/RED/ORANGE Tow apparatus must be clearly marked with an arrow in a contrasting color to the body color by using paint or by using a decal. 5.5 FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) 5.7 BODYWORK (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) All cars must have at least two fire extinguishers extinguisher mounted in the driver s compartment within reach of the driver when he/she is in the normal seated position.(two handhelds are sufficient) On Board System On-Board Fire Suppression systems are strongly recommended. An on-board fire system must conform to FIA Technical List #16, or meet SFI spec On board systems are required to have at least one (1) nozzle in the engine compartment, and one (1) nozzle in the driver s compartment. In addition, one (1) nozzle is required in the fuel tank compartment (trunk) if no Fuel Cell is used. Handle-Held Fire Extinguishers A hand held is always to be within reach of the driver should the plumbed in system fail at any time. 5.6 TOWING APPARATUS (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) All cars must have a minimum (1) front and (1) rear permanently installed towing apparatus (eye, strap, cable, etc.) with a minimum hole diameter of 50 mm. The apparatus shall be strong enough to withstand the weight of the vehicle being pulled from nonracing surfaces such as gravel traps, approximately equal to 5000 lbs. Cars must maintain the OEM look and feel and be clean, free of damage and presentable for competition. All cars are free to replace Doors,Wings,Bonnets, Boots with Carbon Fibre or Fibreglass Replacements. Car presentation All cars must be presented in the best fashion possible. Drivers will not be allowed to start the event without front bumpers or the bodywork. All AERO bodywork must be bolted on at all times on the car. 5.8 ENGINE & TRANSMISSION (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) Engine, transmission, ECU and/or final drive modifications are free, but only the rear wheels may propel the vehicle. There are no maximum power / engine outputs - engine / transmissions are free. Use of power adders, such as Turbo/s, Superchargers, Nitrous Oxide or combinations there of are free. All fuel, Nitrous or any other liquid or gas filled lines must be securely fastened every 100mm throughout its length.(behind fuel firewall) Engine and radiator catch tanks with a minimum capacity of one (1) quart each are required and securely fastened and sealed in the engine compartment. All fluid systems must be free of leaks. All cars must be equipped with an on-board starter and power supply which must be in working order at all times All cars are to have a 12v cigarette lighter for onboard camera power and driftb tracking devices Tow apparatus must be easily accessible if the car is stopped in a gravel bed without removal or 15

16 5.9 CHASSIS & SUSPENSION (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) -Basic Chassis Design The vehicle chassis, frame and/or unibody must remain unmodified between the vertical planes created by the original forward most and rearward-most suspension mounting points. Unibody or chassis may be seam welded. -Suspension Design The basic OEM suspension design type may be freely modified. The original suspension mounting pick-up points must remain in the stock, unmodified location. Suspension arms swapped between similar brands and chassis are allowed once they are within the same family ie (S14 subframe on an S14) -Chassis Modifications Modifications of the stock, OEM firewall are not allowed Any holes in the firewall must be of the minimum size for the passage of controls and wires, and must be completely sealed to prevent the passage of fluids or flames from the engine compartment to the cockpit SHELL FABRICATION LIMITATIONS (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) Firewall modifications Items in the unmodified zone that are allowed to be removed can include original rear window parcel shelf, various tabs and or mounts for unused OEM steering columns, unused OEM windshield wiper mounts, and the exterior roof panel can be replaced with a composite panel. Any other items or structures must receive prior approval in writing from TECHNICAL MANAGER. Rear suspension tower cross-members located at the top of the rear suspension towers may be removed from the unibody only if a suitable replacement structure of equivalent strength is installed after removal of the unibody section. Shell Fabrication limitations Space frame chassis are not permitted, additional triangulation and bracing of suspension turret/mounting points is allowed so long as the car vehicle contains its original monocoque chassis. The car maybe modified with a frame structure/crash bar in front of both suspension turrets and the same on the rear but both standard OEM chassis legs need to be retained or bars need to be fixed and then bolted on to the leg. It must have either a chassis leg or direct bar coming off it facing rearward or forward for support/crumple zones Parts to be retained and will be inspected Standard floor pan Bulkheads ABC Pillars Vehicles which have soft roofs, i.e. convertible, must have a hard top installed and a roll cage which will be effective in the event of a vehicle rolling onto its roof. The hard top must be securely fastened to the body. Glass sunroofs must be removed and replaced by a steel panel, carbon fibre or similar FRP. 16

17 5.11 ELIGIBLE VEHICLES (APPLIES TO SEMI PRO / PRO CLASSES) Vehicles must be constructed by a major vehicle manufacturer and currently / previously available as a homologated and factory available vehicle. All vehicles must be rear wheel drive only FR. Kit cars, or space frame chassis is prohibited. Vehicles of any manufacturer are allowed as long as they meet the conditions Four wheel drive vehicles modified to rear wheel drive are permitted. Subframe Modifications Front cross member and/or front or rear sub-frame must remain standard but can be modified Subframes can be swapped and OEM Members can be strengthened. turrets must be attached to a plate min 60cm2. (see illustrations) Tubular reinforcements may be installed onto the rear suspension turrets and continue to the boot floor area. Any reinforcement must be attached to the turrets with a 3mm thick plate, minimum surface area of 60cm2. The other end of the tube must also be attached to a mounting plate that is preferably welded to the chassis rail on the boot floor. (minimum surface area of 60cm2) A brace between the rear turret supports may be used. (see illustrations) and may also extend to the rear of the boot section to protect from rear impacts. STEERING Modifications of steering components (steering rack, tie rods, etc) are free. Any custom modifications to the hubs, ie non manufactured homemade items must be made aware to the chief scrutineer. All hubs and knuckles will be inspected. USE OF TUBULAR BARS Front and rear turrets may be reinforced with the use of tubular structures. No reinforcement may be installed in front of the front suspension turrets. Weld in front turret supports may be used. They can be incorporated into the rollcage structure. Or be independent to the roll cage. Any tube reinforcing the 17

18 FUEL SYSTEM similarly to nitrous oxide systems. The fuel system design is free. Fuel cells are recommended. Fuel tank/cell must be separated from the driver s cockpit by a permanently mounted steel or aluminum bulkhead. Any fuel cell must have a flapper valve installed to prevent spillage in the event of a roll over. All fuel cells, fuel pumps and first fixings from the tank need to behind a fixed firewall free from the driver compartment. There must be a completely sealed off firewall from the fuel cell, with no access for the fuel cell to come through. All boot area must be sealed or filled in. FUEL LINES All fuel lines are to be run together flow and return and to be tied into the chassis every 100mm. Fuel lines and fittings must be high pressure type and routed in such a way that do not interfere with moving parts and be securely insulated and attached to the chassis. Fuel lines may be routed the driver s compartment. (Once they have aeroquip type fittings and are fully braided) Teams may install dry-break fuel-filler attachments in the rear quarter windows or into the rear windshield or trunk lid to facilitate re-fueling from outside the car. The fuel filler tube between the fuel filler neck and the fuel cell, or tank, must be bulk-headed with steel or aluminum. Additionally, there shall be a flexible tube between the fuel filler neck and the fuel cell/tank to allow for misalignment of the tube as the result of an accident. FIREWALL A firewall must be in place to make sure all Fuel/Oil dry sump systems and Nitrous systems are out of the drivers compartment and are in a sealed area away from this compartment. All the below systems to behind the firewall and not in the driver compartment -Fuel system -Nitrous system -Dry sump systems DRY SUMP OIL TYPE SYSTEM /NITOUS OXIDE Any dry sump oil tanks must be installed at least 100mm from any exterior body panel, and must be enclosed in a sealed firewall. All fittings mustbe of a high pressure screw type.all the above applies ELECTRICAL SYSTEM Master Cut-Off A Master electrical cut-off switch, wired to completely shut off all engine and electrical system function (except for electrically operated fire suppression systems, if applicable) is mandatory and must mounted outside the vehicle, on the right side cowl just below the windshield and is to be clearly marked with the appropriate OFF markings. The electrical terminals of the cut-off switch and/or any relays used in the circuit must be sufficiently insulated. BATTERY The battery must be securely mounted and the positive terminal completely insulated to avoid contact with any other metal parts. Batteries may be relocated. If the battery is located in the drivers compartment, it must in a sealed box bolted to the chassis with the battery securely fastened inside the box and properly vented and drained. If not in a battery box all terminals must be covered.all terminals must be covered LIGHTS All OEM lights and markers must remain in place. Brake lights, tail lights (rain lights), and headlights must function normally. The use of electrical cut off switches, or any other device that renders the brake lights inoperative in any way, is strictly prohibited. Headlights must work at all events, 50% of the event are at night LED Lights must be fitted front and rear. BRAKE SYSTEM The brake system must operate all 4 wheels. Dual master cylinders pedal assemblies are allowed. Hydraulic fluid lines may not have removable connectors located inside the drivers compartment Driver adjustable brake bias is allowed. The use of secondary brake systems is allowed but must be completely separate from the primary system. ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM Cooling system modifications are free but must be fully closed and free of leaks. If cooling system lines are routed in the driver s compartment or a trunk area that is open to the driver, they must be separated 18

19 from the driver by a crushable metal enclosure. NETS The floor of the enclosure must be designed to prevent accumulation of fluids. Cooling systems shall be filled with water only. Water wetter is allowed. INTERIOR MODIFICATIONS The interior of the vehicle must be clean and professional in appearance. All nonessential and/or loose items must be removed. Any removable equipment such as spare tires, tools, bins, etc., shall be removed along with attaching hardware, brackets and covers All carpeting and/or sound deadening material must me removed. The modification of gauges is free. The dashboard is free to replace or must replicate the OEM unit in shape. Supplemental Restrain Systems (SRS) must be removed. Any steering wheel except wood rimmed types may be used. Any shift knob may be used. Interior mirror may be replaced with a multi-plane type mirror, but must not extend beyond the confines of the interior. EXTERIOR MODIFICATIONS These may replace windows when the front and passenger window are not in place. Nets must be affixed to the roll cage These nets must have the below characteristics -Minimum width of strips : 19mm -Minimum size of meshes : 25 x 25 mm -Maximum size of meshes : 60 x 60 mm And must close up the window opening to the centre of the steering wheel. 6. COMPETITION FORMAT Qatar Drift Championship will consist of two formats: 1. Single Drift Competition 2. Twin Drift Competition 6.1 SINGLE DRIFT COMPETITION Under the Single Drift format, the drivers will take to the course one by one where their drifting skills are judged individually. There shall only be 4 runs per driver, best scores from any of the runs will define the ranking. The judging is based upon the Judging criteria in qualification shown in section Two (2) bonnet pins, equally spaced across the front of hood, are required within of the leading edge of the hood. Additional hood pins, i.e. at the back plane of the hood, are also recommended. All bodywork must be painted or covered, securely latched and/or fastened and not loose in any manner. WINDOWS/NETS Door, quarter and rear window glass must be OEM or clear Lexan with a 3mm minimum thickness and securely bolted in place. Bonded also allowed. Plastics for performance are the approved supplier for these windows. Windshields must be installed and OEM or lexan replacement and be free of cracks. OEM non-glass replacement windshields must be a minimum 10mm thickness and have supplemental TWIN DRIFT COMPETITION Under the Twin Drift competition format, the top 16 drivers compete on a one on-one basis as a elimination system, where two drivers are competing against each other with back to back runs, from there the semi-final 4 will be chosen, then the final two and then the overall winner. Third position will be determined by allowing an extra run between both semi losers. Each competing pair is made up of a leading and following vehicle. Winners are determined on a tworun basis. With each run, the Following vehicle is judged whether superior or inferior to the Leading vehicle, as long as the lead car is performing correctly according to the previous qualifying run. 19
