The wheel installation kit must be purchased separately from a Harley-avidson dealer. Refer to the Service Parts page for a complete description and part numbers for these items. Proper installation of this kit requires the separate purchase of the following parts which are available at a Harley-avidson dealer: earing Remover and Installer (H ) Installation (See Service Parts Tables for part number) or on Touring models, separate purchase of tire is required. or 2009 and later models, tire is required. or on models, separate purchase of (2) brake rotors is required. or later models the separate purchase of (2) brake rotors is required. or on 2006-Later yna models (except XWG and X), separate purchase of brake disc is required if installing the wheel on a motorcycle with stock laced wheel. Recommended Parts It is recommended that a floating brake rotor for kit be purchased separately if objectionable brake noise is experienced from the brake rotors. The following Harley-avidson Genuine Motor ccessories are recommended for proper maintenance and cleaning: Harley right hrome leaner ( ) Harley Glaze Polish and Sealant ( ) Harley and Spoke rush ( ) Harley-avidson and Tire leaner ( ) The rider's safety depends upon the correct installation of this kit. Use the appropriate service manual procedures. If the procedure is not within your capabilities or you do not have the correct tools, have a Harley-avidson dealer perform the installation. INSTLLTION. Remove existing front wheel assembly. Save axle, axle nut, brake disc and wheel spacers for kit installation. or XST Models: iscard tapered spacer. Refer to RONT WHL in service manual. 2. See igure. Install valve stem assembly () on wheel. Refer to TIRS in service manual. o not re-use brake disc/rotor screws. Re-using these screws can result in torque loss and damage to brake components. (0039c) NOTS Install the primary bearing first using appropriate service manual and WHL RING RMOVR/INSTLLR. or : The right side of the wheel has OT markings. or 2006 and earlier X Softail Models and 2007 and earlier XWG Models: The right side of the wheel is the primary bearing side. or 2007 and later X Softail Models: The left side of the wheel is the primary bearing side. or XSTS models: The right side is the brake disc side. or all other models: The left side is the brake disc side. or and : The left side of the wheel has cast-in markings in the hub pockets to identify it as the disc side and primary bearing side for installation. -J04052 of 6

2 or : The left side of the wheel with the brake disc mounting tower and cast-in markings is the primary bearing side of the wheel. 3. ssemble wheel installation kit components and brake disc(s) to wheel, using the appropriate service parts table. Refer to RONT WHL in service manual. 4. or XST Models: Install wheel kit and wheel spacer provided in installation kit in place of the tapered right side spacer discarded in Step. Refer to RONT WHL in service manual. or XSTS Models: Install the spacer provided in the installation kit between the stock left side spacer and the left fork. or all other models: Install previously removed wheel spacers. Refer to RONT WHL in service manual. 5. Install front wheel (), stock axle and stock axle nut. Refer to RONT WHL in service manual. MINTNN N LNING NOT Some wheel assemblies include plugs that have been installed in the openings between the brake disc mounting holes on one side of the wheel. Missing or damaged plugs can be replaced using the Plug ( ). hrome parts must be maintained regularly to keep their original shine and luster.. lean heavily-soiled wheel surfaces using Harley-avidson and Tire leaner, applied with the Harley and Spoke rush. 2. Thoroughly clean chrome with a good quality chrome cleaner, such as Harley right hrome leaner. 3. fter cleaning and polishing, seal the finish with a good quality sealer, such as Harley Glaze Polish and Sealant. -J of 6
