1 -J05161 REV CHAIN AND SHACKLE LOCK SECURITY SYSTEMS GENERAL Kit Number , Models The shackle lock can be used to secure the front or rear slotted brake discs or secure theft protection chains. Kit Contents This kit includes the a chain, lock, one lighted key and two standard keys. A reminder cord ( ) is available for separate purchase. INSTALLATION Insert key all the way to the bottom of the cylinder. Turn key clockwise 180 degrees to the open position. DO NOT FORCE KEY! Key should turn freely. If key does not freely rotate, try turning key slightly left and right while inserted in lock to align disks inside lock cylinder. Failure to insert key all the way to the bottom of cylinder could cause key to jam. Key cannot be removed from key cylinder when in the "unlock" position. Securing Brake Disc or Rear Sprocket 1. Insert key into the lock and turn to the unlock position. Remove shackle. If the shackle lock will not fit through the front brake disc, install it through the rear rotor or rear sprocket. 2. See Figure 1 and Figure 2. Insert shackle through slot in a front or rear brake disc or rear sprocket. A reminder cord is not included with this kit, but is available for separate purchase ( ). 3. Install reminder cord (3) over the shackle, if equipped. 4. Install chain (4) over shackle. 5. Install lock onto the shackle. Turn key to lock position and remove. For Springer models, roll motorcycle forward slowly until the lock gently contacts rocker. 6. Roll motorcycle forward slowly until lock gently contacts caliper or sprocket belt guard. 7. Install chain through the vehicle frame and through front wheel or around an immovable object. 2. Insert key into the lock and turn to the unlock position. Remove shackle. 3. Install chain over shackle. 4. Install reminder cord over the shackle. 5. Install lock onto the shackle. Turn key to lock position and remove. 6. See. 2 is06464 Figure 3. Secure Chain Through Frame SECURING MOTORCYCLE Always lock your Harley-Davidson motorcycle anytime you are away from it, including at home. Lock it when it is in the garage, in your yard, in a parking garage, on a trailer, even at the store. Beware. To protect against lift-away and tow-away theft, as well as roll-away and ride-away theft, always lock your vehicle to a fixed immovable object that is cemented or otherwise anchored to the ground. Feed the chain links around a fixed object and through the frame of the motorcycle. Position your lock keeping the lock raised off the ground with the key mechanism facing downwards to prevent thieves from attempting to leverage or crush the lock. For maximum security in higher theft areas or for long periods of time (even in a garage), use both a Harley-Davidson Chain and Padlock and a separate Harley-Davidson Disc lock together. Lock the Harley-Davidson Disc lock onto the front or rear rotor/disc. Place Harley-Davidson Chain and Padlock around a fixed object and through the frame of the motorcycle. Lock your motorcycle in a well lit areas. Create a snug fit with frame and or wheels so that there is little room in the chain links for thieves' tools to get leverage. Lock your motorcycle to an object that is securely bolted or cemented to the ground, and that has something affixed to the top to prevent thieves from lifting the lock over the top of the object. Do not lock your motorcycle to itself, or to objects that can be easily cut, such as small trees, aluminum or wooden posts or chain link fences. Do not lock motorcycle in the same area all the time. Keep motorcycle locked at all times. Do not leave motorcycle unguarded without being locked. KRYPTONITE ANTI-THEFT PROTECTION OFFER Kryptonite is the manufacturer of the Harley-Davidson Chain and Padlock. Kryptonite has made an anti-theft protection offer available to Harley-Davidson customers who purchase the Harley-Davidson Chain and Padlock and meet the other requirements of the offer. The offer is available through Kryptonite only and does not constitute an offer by Harley- Davidson. Harley-Davidson offers no anti-theft protection program. Kryptonite is solely responsible for the Kryptonite Anti-Theft Protection Program. This is not to be construed as powersport vehicle insurance. It offers protection only against the theft of your Harley-Davidson motorcycle caused by lock failure. If your Harley-Davidson motorcycle is stolen because of the opening or breaking of the Harley-Davidson chain or padlock by force, Kryptonite will pay you the amount of the theft deductible if your insurance company actually pays your claim, or up to: $1000 (USD-Available in US and Canada only), subject to the specified requirements and limitations of the Kryptonite Anti-Theft Protection Offer. Your acceptance of this offer provides you with an exclusive remedy once you have completed all requirements and only if all required materials are mailed to Kryptonite within the specified time frames indicated below. Otherwise, this Anti-Theft Protection Offer will not be in effect. Special provisions apply for New York State residents. See details below. Requirements to Validate Anti-Theft Protection Offer Forward to Kryptonite WITHIN FIFTEEN (15) DAYS OF LOCK PURCHASE the following items, [a] your completed Harley- Davidson Lock registration form, [b] a copy of your itemized lock bill of sale, [c] a copy of your powersport vehicle bill of sale or, a dated and signed authorized Harley-Davidson dealer appraisal reflecting the market value, not including accessories, [d] proof of powersport vehicle registration (if available), with local police, campus police or national bike registration service, [e] your check or money order for two or three year protection offer coverage. (Certified mail, return receipt is recommended, since Kryptonite is not responsible for non-receipt of mail. Written confirmation sent upon request. (US only.) Mail notice of the theft to Kryptonite WITHIN SEVEN (7) DAYS OF THE THEFT, via certified mail. 3. Report the theft to your insurance company. 4. Send the following to Kryptonite within 90 days: [a] damaged lock and/or links- required as proof of product failure (We recommend that you return the entire lock if available so that we can better understand how product failed), [b] at least one key, [c] police report, and [d] evidence you have notified your insurance company, if covered. Kryptonite requires proof of payment from your insurance company prior to paying your deductible. Failure to forward all materials within 90 days will nullify and void your claim. Kryptonite will extend the 90 day requirement if your insurance company has not completed payment within the 90 day period, provided that all of the other requirements of the offer have been met. Certified mail, return receipt is recommended since Kryptonite is not responsible for non-receipt of mail. Note: If your Harley-Davidson motorcycle is stolen within 15 days of the lock purchase prior to fulfilling the "Requirements to validate your Anti-Theft Protection Offer" (above) Kryptonite will accept your claim for the Anti-Theft Protection Offer. In this event, send all required paperwork to Kryptonite. If your Harley-Davidson motorcycle is stolen within 15 days of the lock purchase and you sent all required paperwork to Kryptonite, but Kryptonite has not received it, Kryptonite -J of 5

3 will accept your claim for the Anti-Theft Protection Offer for review and evaluation. Any claims filed under the Anti-Theft Protection Offer program will be subject to the "Limitations" listed below. Limitations This Kryptonite Anti-Theft Protection Offer expires ONE YEAR from postmark date of registration and applies only to the registered lock owner and powersport vehicle registered with Kryptonite. In the US (excluding New York State residents) and Canada, your protection offer can be extended by enclosing $10.00 (USD) for 2-year coverage or $15.00 (USD) for 3-year coverage along with your registration form. 1. Kryptonite will not be liable if the Harley-Davidson motorcycle or the object to which it was locked was dismantled or cut, or if the Kryptonite lock was not opened by forceful means. 2. This protection offer applies only to Harley-Davidson motorcycles. 3. This Anti-Theft Protection Offer applies only to the theft of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle registered with Kryptonite. This Anti-Theft Protection Offer does not apply to attempted thefts or thefts where the Harley-Davidson motorcycle is recovered, even if the motorcycle was damaged or totaled prior to its return. This protection offer does not apply to thefts occurring outside the country of lock registration, or to damages caused by vandalism, attempted thefts, or to thefts of personal property from the powersport vehicle. Important note: The term "theft" as used here means the unauthorized removal of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle by a person other than the owner of the powersport vehicle or his/her agent which results in a claim for theft against a company which insures said powersport vehicle. 4.This Anti-Theft Protection Offer is transferable to another Harley-Davidson motorcycle if you send in a copy of the bill of sale for the new Harley-Davidson motorcycle within your offer period. 5. In the event of theft(s), the maximum amount payable to any one individual is: $1000 (USD) or if you have private insurance coverage, the amount of your deductible, regardless of the number of Harley-Davidson locks registered, the number of Harley-Davidson motorcycles registered, and regardless of the number of thefts sustained by the registered individual. Said payment is limited to theft deductible of the registered powersport vehicle or original purchase price of the vehicle, excluding accessories and taxes. Consequential damages are not recoverable. There are no other warranties, express or implied, which extend beyond the Anti-Theft Protection Offer. 6.Your rights under this limited protection offer may not be assigned, subrogated or otherwise transferred to any other parties. IMPORTANT: Any requested information not supplied within the specified time frame will nullify the Anti-Theft Protection Offer. SPECIAL PROVISIONS APPLY FOR NEW YORK STATE RESIDENTS. New York State Residents New York State law (Section 3446 of Chapter 187 of the laws of 1999) has forced Kryptonite to change its Anti-Theft Protection Offer. As of June 1, 2001, all New York residents are covered under a 1-year group insurance policy offered to Kryptonite by Security Insurance Company of Hartford. The amount of the insurance policy will be: Harley-Davidson motorcycle $1000 (USD) for the Harley-Davidson MAX Chain & Padlock, Harley-Davidson Max Noose Chain & Padlock. This coverage DOES extend to New York City for the Harley- Davidson MAX Chain & Padlock, Harley-Davidson Max Noose Chain & Padlock. There is no charge for this coverage. It is valid for one year from receipt of registration and is nonrenewable. New York residents registering for the program will receive a certificate of insurance and letter from Kryptonite explaining the policy. To register for this program, follow the instructions in the "Requirements to validate your protection offer" section of this insert. Any claims filed under this program will be subject to the requirements and limitations listed. US and Canadian Residents (Excluding New York State residents) Extend your FREE 1-year Kryptonite $1000 (USD) Anti-Theft Protection Offer by enclosing $10.00 USD (US and Canada) for 2-year coverage or $15.00 USD (US and Canada) for 3- year coverage. KEY REGISTRATION AND KEY REPLACEMENT PROGRAM If you lose your Kryptonite keys and you have registered your key number with Kryptonite, or know your key number, we will replace your keys promptly. To register your keys, complete all items on the Harley-Davidson Key Registration form. Be sure to write your key number in the space provided. The key number is either printed on the keys or on the metal tag that is included on the key ring. Mail your completed form to the address listed below. You can also register your keys online at The key code for this Harley- Davidson lock is exclusive, and duplicate keys can only be obtained through Kryptonite or an authorized Key Replacement dealer (listed below). Authorized replacement keys for your Harley-Davidson lock can be obtained from Kryptonite for $6.00 (USD) for 1 key and $12.00 (USD) for 2 keys. Customers outside the United States ordering keys through the Canton, Massachusetts office are asked to send an international money order for $12.00 (USD) for 2 keys. Kryptonite, Att: Harley-Davidson ATPO 437 Turnpike Street, Canton, MA 02021, USA LIFETIME LIMITED WARRANTY Schlage Lock Company, LLC, through its Kryptonite division ("Kryptonite") extends a limited lifetime warranty to the original user of the Harley-Davidson products manufactured by Kryptonite (the "products") against defects in material and workmanship. What Kryptonite Will Do Upon return of the defective product to Kryptonite or its authorized distributor for inspection, free and clear of all liens and encumbrances and accompanied by the statement of defects and proof of purchase, Kryptonite will replace the product. Original User: This warranty only applies to the Original User of products. This warranty is not transferable. -J of 5

4 What Is Not Covered: The following costs, expenses and damages are not covered by the provisions of this limited warranty: (i) labor costs including, but not limited to, such costs for the removal and reinstallation of products; (ii) shipping and freight expenses required to return the products to Kryptonite ; or (iii) any other incidental, consequential, indirect, special and/or punitive damages, whether based on contract, warranty, tort (including, but not limited to strict liability or negligence), patent infringement, or otherwise, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusion or limitation may not apply to you. The provisions of this limited warranty do not apply to products: (i) that contain a Schlage cylinder which is covered by Schlage Lock Company warranties. (: The Schlage Lock Company warranties do not cover the lock body which is covered under the Kryptonite warranty); (ii) used for purposes for which they are not designed or intended; (iii) which have been subjected to alteration, misuse, abuse, negligence, or accident; (iv) which have been improperly stored, installed, maintained, repaired or operated; (v) which have been used in violation of written instructions provided by Kryptonite ; (vi) which have been subjected to improper temperature, humidity, or other environmental conditions (i.e., corrosion); or (vii) which, based on Kryptonite's examination, do not disclose to Kryptonite's satisfaction non-conformance to this warranty. Additional Terms NO OTHER WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, ARE MADE WITH RESPECT TO THE PRODUCTS INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, ANY IMPLIED WARRANTY OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. Kryptonite does not authorize any person to create for it any obligation or liability or additional warranty in connection with the products. Kryptonite's maximum liability under this warranty is limited to the purchase price of the product. No action arising out of any claimed breach of this warranty by Kryptonite may be brought by the Original User more than one (1) year after the cause of action has arisen.
