Their best feature, however, is that they have been pre-adjusted to meet your needs at the factory. Totaltek absorbers feature pioneering innovations and modern technology. Our absorbers are carefully designed to meet the special requirements of snowmobiling, performing well on both snow and ice. Totaltek absorbers have established a solid reputation in leisure and racing use throughout the years. Our absorbers have provided innumerable relaxing kilometres on leisure routes and many winning results in various competition categories. No more disassembling your new shock absorbers before the ride. Simply select the most suitable adjustment option, and we will manufacture your absorbers according to your driving style. This way you are able to avoid unnecessary work and costs related to custom-adjusting the absorbers. TRACTIVE SUSPENSION High quality suspension components for motorsports In the summer of 2010 a new shock absorber manufacturer was created in the Netherlands, as four suspension companies decided to join their forces. The company was to be called Tractive Suspension BV. Totaltek was their first partner, which is why we were able to have an impact on the construction and features of the shock absorbers manufactured by Tractive, and to mould them for snowmobile use right from the beginning. Through continuous efforts we are able to introduce new and improved absorbers with innovative features. Tractive has extensive experience in manufacturing and developing competition shock absorbers as well as original shock absorbers for vehicles. The company specialises in electronically adjustable suspension, which can already now be found in BRP snowmobiles.

NEW START Totaltek shock absorbers to enter the market For the 2018 season Totaltek Ky will launch a wide range of totally new type 4616 snowmobile shock absorbers, featuring many new technologies and fresh, functional ideas. The Totaltek shock absorbers are assembled in Finland with parts manufactured by Tractive Suspension. Totaltek Ky is responsible for fitting snowmobiles with the shock absorbers and testing their settings. In addition to 1200 motorcycle shock absorber components, 300 special components have been designed for the snowmobile shock absorbers, ensuring perfect compatibility. The new Totaltek shock absorbers have been carefully crafted; a quick glance reveals that the product is, true to Totaltek's standards, a high-tech product. Indeed, the products showcase exquisite manufacturing detail and accuracy with industry-leading materials. Many of the components are manufactured with a special extrusion mould technique, enabling light and durable products with reasonable production costs, without compromising the quality. The company has invested in the use of special tools, as well as new and improved production methods. Tractive Suspension has also acquired the ISO 9001:2008 quality certificate and TÜV approval for street bike shock absorbers. CONTINUOUS R&D The shock settings are tested with state-of-the-art equipment The snowmobile production suspension is improving year by year, making the development of suspension technology a real challenge. Totaltek has one of the best shock absorber dynamometers in Finland. With the help of the dyno we can test the damping settings of any snowmobile production shock and develop the settings of our shocks indoors. The dynamometer has proved to be an indispensable tool for studying the correct operation of shock components, and has speed up development work considerably compared to mere field testing. Even though the dynamometer is of great help in the early stages of development work, the settings need to be refined by testing on a snowmobile. A large number of active snowmobile users and top notch competition drivers help us with the actual testing. Totaltek Ky always supplies the dealers with shocks that have the latest settings, so the customer can count on the best possible performance. INNOVATIONS Knowing the past gives you keys for the future Extensive experience in shock absorber production gives Totaltek a background which generates new ideas and makes us a leader in suspension technology. One of the most ingenious feature of the new Totaltek shock is a forwardtilted reservoir. A shock absorber fitted with a traditional piggyback reservoir could not be used as the centre shock on many snowmobiles because the reservoir would hit the front swing arm as the suspension bottoms. The Totaltek reservoir turns to an almost horizontal position underneath the swing arm when the suspension bottoms, and fits into the confined space. This unique feature facilitates the use of a fixed reservoir on the centre shock of most snowmobiles, and hoses are now history.

STANDARD SETUPS Shock absorbers have to match the requirements We have nine different damping setups available to match with your type of driving and your weight. This is needed because you simply can't drive snowcross and cruise on a trail with a same suspension. Cross (C65, C80 and C95) The "Cross" label indicates that these shocks are best suited for snowcross. These shocks are so stiff that they would be uncomfortable for trail riding. Enduro (E65, E80 and E95) The "Enduro" label indicates that the suspension is only suitable for enduro racing. The settings work well for most Pro-drivers who race of trails with plenty of soft snow. For other classes, we recommend "Sport" settings. Sport (S65, S80 and S95) "Sport" shocks are suitable for speedy driving along trails and for long outings, as the suspension should be comfortably soft. "Sport" setting is the best suited for demanding drivers and is recommended for racers in other than Pro class. DRIVER WEIGHT Three setups for different sizes of drivers Drivers of various weights need a setup made for their own needs. Therefore, we specified three different setups for drivers of different weights. Young snowcross riders weigh less than adults, which is why we created the C65 setting for drivers weighing 65 kg. For the adult class, we determined the weight of 80 kg with the C80 setting. The C95 setting was made for snowmobile professionals racing in the WC final. In normal trail driving there are all types of riders which is why we have created the S65, S80 and S95 settings covering three weight classes: 65 kg, 80 kg and 95 kg. Top-level enduro riders are in good shape, usually weighing around 80 kg. This is why they tend to choose the E80 setting. HOW TO CHOOCE A SETUP Don't overestimate your speed and trail roughness Use the softest suspension possible Surprisingly, most pro-level enduro drivers use relatively soft suspension. They have found they can finish races with better results by using comfortable suspension. The reason for this is simple. The longer you can drive fast, the better results you get. With suspension that is too stiff, you become exhausted and your speed drops. Or, worse, you start to make mistakes. A softer suspension improves traction and gives you better acceleration when coming out of curves. Your speed is higher at the next straight, which helps you save time. With soft suspension you have to reduce speed on the worst sections of trail, but on other parts of the trail you save much more time than you lose by braking. Should I order Sport or Enduro shocks? "Sport" shocks are ideal for amateur enduro-racing on closed sections of public snowmobile trails. They are by far the best choice for sporty driving on slippery trails with little snow or icy bumps. If you want to sit on the seat while driving on bumpy trail sections instead of standing and jumping from mogul to mogul, please see the "Sport" setting for harder "Enduro" shocks made for pro drivers.

STATIC SAG Suspension can work only if the basic setup is correct The driver s weight significantly affects the chassis balance, which cannot be overlooked when designing a suspension setup. If there is a notable difference in driver weight from normal, it might require to cange the spring. Increased driver weight cannot be compensated for by adding more preload to the spring because there are two chassis heights which must be correct. The first is without the driver, and the second is with the driver on the vehicle. With increased preload, one of these can be achieved but the other one will be incorrect. From the picture you can see that the same spring force is needed to compress the suspension without the driver, but the spring force has to increase with a heavy driver with same suspension travel to attain the correct sag with the driver on the vehicle. This means you need a stiffer spring with less preload on it with a heavy driver! This situation occurs if you have a coil spring or torque springs in your suspension. Both of them have spring rates to choose from. Coils springs can be easily ordered from us, but torque springs must be purchased as a spare part from your vehicle dealer. SPRING PRELOAD The spring pre-tension is adjusted with a ring The preload of the 4616 series Totaltek shock is adjusted with a handy ring with radial holes. Always start the spring preload adjustment by cleaning dust and dirt from the shock preload. Foreign particles between the adjustment parts can cause serious shock damage. To adjust the spring, first loosen the adjusting ring lock screw. Insert a small hexagon bit into the adjusting key from a holder located inside the adjustment tool handle. Then replace the adjusting key's small hexagon bit with a dowel pin, insert the key in the adjusting ring hole and adjust the preload by turning the adjusting ring. One turn of the ring equals a 1.5 mm change to the preload. Finish adjusting by tightening the lock screw to 3 Nm torque. PDS2 Two pistons smoothen bumps The dual piston PDS2 shock combines driving comfort with sufficient dampening at high speeds and in rough conditions. The suspension geometry of many snowmobiles is good for slow driving, but should work more progressively towards the end of the suspension travel. This mechanical limitation makes calibration of the shock absorbers much more difficult. The suspension tends to be hard on smooth trails, and yet it bottoms far too easily when the going gets rough. The Totaltek PDS2 system increases the damping force just before the suspension bottoms. Oil flows pass the shock s secondary piston in the initial part of the shock travel, and damping is comfortable. When the suspension is about to bottom, the secondary piston moves into the smaller cylinder and the oil must now also flow via its shims. The shock absorber becomes stiffer and will smooth out even larger bumps. PDS = Progressive Damping System

REBOUND DAMPING Damping can be trimmed without rebuilding the shock Most Totaltek shock absorbers have rebound knobs, which make suspension testing easier. The effect of the rebound adjuster is greatest at low piston rod speeds and decreases slowly when the suspension speed gets higher. All Totaltek shocks are developed so that the best suspension performance is achieved in normal conditions with position "8" of all the adjusters. In the stiffest position "0" the knob is fully closed, and in position "1" the knob is opened one step. All knobs have at least 16 positions. (+) = Harder setting (-) = Softer setting How the rebound adjuster works: The rebound adjuster controls the small oil flow which bypasses the rebound shim stack through the piston bleed needle system. You notice the effect of this adjuster most when the suspension is extending slowly as you brake into a curve. Rebound check valve makes the difference. Totaltek s shock absorbers have a small check valve which prevents oil from flowing through the rebound needle system under compression stroke. This small extra feature makes adjustment of Totaltek shocks logical and easy, because rebound adjustment has no effect on compression damping. The valve is hidden inside the piston rod, and due to of its clever design it does not lengthen the shock s mechanical structure. This enables us to add a rebound adjuster to many shock models, which other brands cannot do. 46 MM PISTON Big body size works with all loads All snowmobile shocks have a large 46 mm piston to increase the performance over the moguls. When gas shock absorbers were introduced, almost all snowmobile shock absorbers had 36 mm pistons. The pistons could be adjusted to be nice and soft for small bumps or stiffer for big moguls, but it was nearly impossible to combine both styles. Gradually, the industry-leading manufacturers began moving towards 46 mm pistons, enabling easier adjustments and decreasing functional restrictions. Some manufacturers produce 40 mm shock absorbers, which work fairly well in the front suspension, but can be difficult to adjust as center and rear shocks of the snowmobile. These shock absorbers require a compromise between comfort and resistance to heavy shocks.

COMPRESSION DAMPING Low and high speed compression have separate adjusters Most Totaltek snowmobile shock absorbers have two separate compression damping adjustment knobs. The slow movement knob "LS" adjusts the damping force in the entire speed range of the shock absorber s movement, also affecting bottoming of the suspension in high speed impact situations. The fast movement knob "HS" adjusts the high-speed damping range of the piston rod but does not affect damping at low speeds. Always start with the "LS" adjuster to determine how hard you can make the setting without sacrificing smoothness of driving. This makes the chassis stable in curves and when braking hard. The next step is to adjust the "HS" screw to as soft a setting as possible to avoid hard bottoming. By determining these limits you will achieve the optimum compromise with clicker positions. How do the LS and HS compression adjusters work? When you push the piston rod into a shock, a quantity of oil equal to the displacement of the rod goes into the reservoir. Compression mechanisms control this small oil flow generating pressure and damping force. If the piston rod moves slowly, all the oil flows through the "LS" mechanism. Its adjustable needle and jet system restricts the flow. With these low piston rod speeds, the "HS" mechanism is fully closed. When the piston rod gets more speed, the "HS" mechanism, which is actually a pressure pop-off valve, starts to open and part of the oil flow goes through it. With the "HS" clicker you can adjust the pop-off valve spring preload and thus the opening pressure of the high speed mechanism. If the piston rod speed still increases, the shim stack of the high speed mechanism starts to restrict the oil flow, causing even harder damping. Given all of the information above, it is easy to understand how the "LS" clicker affects the damping at all piston rod speeds, while the "HS" clicker affects only high piston rod speeds where the pop-off valve is open. SETUP PHILOSOPHY Start adjusting only after you know what to do The shock piston rod speed depends more on driving speed than on the size of the bumps. It is sometimes very difficult to know if you should adjust the low speed clicker "LS" or the high speed clicker "HS". It may seem as if the "LS" clicker affects small bumps and the "HS" clicker large ones, but it is not that simple. In actuality, driving speed has a big effect on how fast the shock absorber piston rod moves. Even small bumps push the suspension very quickly if you drive 150 km/h. At the same time, the piston rod speed is relatively slow when snowcross professionals do big whoop-de-does or jump over table jumps with angled landing ramps. So, judge the situation, think carefully first and turn the knobs later! The picture on the left shows the compression damping curves of a shock absorber. The damping force increases upwards and the piston rod speed to the right. You can see easily how the "LS" knob affects mainly low suspension speeds, and its effect decreases at high speeds. Conversely, the high speed adjuster "HS" has no effect on damping at low piston rod speeds, but makes a big difference when speed increases.

SERIAL NUMBER Serial number helps us to trace the shock history Each Totaltek shock absorber has a unique serial number which tells us exactly the which shock you have. We test with dynamometer every shock we produce and document the test results with the unique shock serial number. This number helps us to identify the shock later on when we rework or service it. It makes life easier when it comes time of fine tuning the shim stacks or if there is a warranty case with the shock. The serial number tells us also the production year and month of the shock absorber. SERVICE Rates of Totaltek's own repair shop Our workshop services Totaltek shock absorbers year round, but sometimes our service queue is long. Your shocks can be serviced as well by your nearest authorized Totaltek Racing Suspension service; please visit our website for the address. We service your Totaltek shocks at the rates shown below. The price includes disassembling the shock, cleaning the parts, inspection, assembling the shock, pressurizing, oil and nitrogen. If we have new shim stack setups available, we will replace the old ones for a fixed price when servicing your shock absorbers. All prices excluding VAT. Totaltek-service, no adjustment knob 44,35 Totaltek-service, one adjustment knob 48,39 Totaltek-service, two adjustment knobs 52,42 Totaltek-service, three adjustment knobs 56,45 Shock revalving while servicing it 20,16 Totaltek shock absorbers are designed to be serviced with a filling machine, which pumps out all the air from inside the shock and then fills the shock with over-pressurized oil. The procedure is repeated to remove the air which has dissolved to the oil. This is the only shock filling method which leaves no air inside a shock absorber and increases it lifetime considerably. We maintain a large spare parts stock, as a customer should not have trouble as a result of a collision or other problem. We stock numerous original Totaltek Racing Suspension special tools, which we are pleased to sell to authorized shock absorber services. WARRANTY Repair under warranty is done only by our own repair shop. Shocks outside racing use have a one year warranty covering manufacturing errors and faulty materials. The warranty extends to the second year if the shock is serviced by authorized Totaltek service at least once a year. The warranty is valid only if the customer sends the faulty product and a copy of its original purchasing bill to Totaltek Ky. Repair under warranty may be done only by Totaltek's own repair shop. Note that there is no warranty on racing products even if they are not used in racing. Totaltek assumes no responsibility for losses resulting from errors in the catalogue or for damages caused by incorrect installation or use. Totaltek Ky reserves the right to change product specifications and prices without notice.

Totaltek's new website is open for you to visit. You may find answers to most of your questions there. Our website contains the latest information, as well as a useful search engine for finding the right parts for your vehicle. We have spent three years building the new online shop with emphasis on user-friendliness and convenience. All unnecessary features have been removed, leaving only the most essential shopping functions. Now you can find all the necessary information quickly and easily. Our online shop features only products in stock, so you can rest assured your order will be delivered promptly. Orders submitted in the morning can be sent during the same day. You can pay for your order via online banking at the checkout, or upon picking up your order at a post office or a Matkahuolto branch. We have added a number of springs and other shock absorber parts to our selection. With these parts you will be able to adjust your shocks exactly to your needs. We have included dimensions in the product catalogue, ensuring that you will be able to choose the correct part. Many of the parts are compatible with the sled's original shocks. The shock absorption shim sizes have fairly uniform sizes across different manufacturers, and Totaltek's spare parts are often used for servicing other shock absorber brands as well. Shock absorber installation manuals and other useful information will be added later on the website. Our next large project will be to prepare shock absorber installation manuals and making them available via our online shop. Although the process may take a while, sooner than later the instructions for your shock absorber will be available in the "Documents" section.
