To reduce energy costs and motor wear and tear, PowerFlex 7000 drives enable soft-starting and variable-speed control of processes with high power demands. Our entire product line provides virtually perfect current and voltage waveforms to allow the use of standard or existing motors and motor cables. Thanks to advanced power semiconductor technology and a simple, straightforward design, the drive s component count is the lowest of any medium voltage drive available. The result? HMI Capabilities: The PowerFlex 7000 features the userfriendly PanelView Plus interface with 10-inch touchscreen, built-in PDF viewer and consolidated control interface for synchronous transfer systems. One HMI can be used for multiple drives and includes multi-language support. Three Configurations Remote-Mounted: You can mount the HMI in almost any location using a Ethernet cable for communication back to the PanelView. PowerFlex 7000 AC Drives with Direct-to-Drive Technology Reduce the cost, size and weight of your medium voltage drive system with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 7000 AC drives with Direct-to-Drive technology. This is the first technology introduced into the market that allows you to directly connect a medium voltage drive to utility power without the requirement of an isolation transformer. Direct-to-Drive technology combines an Active Front End (AFE) rectifier to dramatically lower line-side harmonics and a patented DC link inductor to address common mode voltage at its source. By addressing harmonics and common mode voltage, the isolation transformer becomes redundant. This reduces system complexity to maximize uptime and increases system efficiency to lower operational costs. This optional configuration combines an Active Front End (AFE) rectifier to reduce line-side harmonics, SGCT power semiconductors and How it works Historically, medium voltage motor AC drives (2.4 kv to 6.9 kv), use power topologies that generate common-mode voltage, which can cause premature failure of the motor winding insulation. In addition to the cooling system options, drives are available in three configurations; Direct-to-Drive, AFE and 18-pulse to allow optimal flexibility for a variety of applications. PowerFlex 7000 Air-Cooled Drives Enhance motor control and increase energy efficiency for motor applications from 150 kw to 6000 kw with Allen-Bradley PowerFlex 7000 air-cooled medium voltage AC variable frequency drives. PowerFlex 7000 Liquid-Cooled Drives Users with higher power needs can reduce energy use and improve process control motors from 2240 kw to 6340 kw at 4.16 kv to 6.6 kv nominal supply voltage ratings. Increase reliability with the closed-loop liquid-cooling system with liquid-to air or liquid-to-liquid heat exchangers options and an integral pump cabinet. This allows for considerable size reduction and the capability of stepping down from higher distribution voltages. Indoor dry type, outdoor oil-filled or cast coil transformers can be used. Active Front End (AFE) Rectifier The AFE rectifier is available with an integral isolation transformer (up to 160A in most voltages) or configured for connection to a separately mounted isolation transformer (all sizes). This allows for considerable size reduction and the capability of stepping down from higher distribution voltages. 13 Four Quadrant Operation The PowerFlex 7000 inherently provides four-quadrant drive operation. This is ideal for hoists, down-hill conveyors, and even very high inertia fans. Regeneration capabilities provide both the most efficient motor stopping method and the ability to regenerate power back to the distribution system. This feature eliminates the need, in many cases, for mechanical braking to slow or stop the load and further reduces mechanical wear and tear on the components. Braking Speed (SPD) Driving Long Cable Lengths Virtually Unlimited Motor Cable Distance While some variable frequency drives have limitations in motor cable distance due to high switching frequencies, high dv/ dt characteristics of the switching device, or capacitive coupling - the cable distance with the PowerFlex 7000 is virtually unlimited. This technology is capable of controlling motors as far away as 15 kilometers (9.3 miles) from the drive. This is ideal for land-based or offshore platform-based electro-submersible pumps applications, or any application requiring centrally located electrical control houses and discrete motor locations due to environmental, financial, or other factors. The PWM pattern works in combination with a small integral capacitor to reduce the higher order harmonics at higher frequencies. The result is minimal additional motor heating or voltage stress to motor insulation compared to fixed speed operation. PowerFlex 7000 with TorqProve Delivers Zero Speed Holding Torque PowerFlex 7000 drives with TorqProve can be specifically tailored for applications requiring coordinated and sustained control of a load and brake. TorqProve helps to assure control of the load in lifting or dragline applications of all kinds. Control capability helps confirm that the mechanical brake has control of the load when stopping the drive and the drive has control of the load when releasing the brake during any move command. Combined with excellent low or zero speed performance with accurate torque and speed regulation, TorqProve helps eliminate concerns with brake timing. It can also significantly reduce wear and tear on the mechanical brake with smooth operation and reduced machine stress.
