Haymes has made conscious decisions to implement environmentally responsible measures right across the business starting with the manufacturing plant. This then has a natural flow through to the products Haymes produce. In fact the Haymes Sustainability Policy reads; To conduct our business with respect for the impact on the environment and the reduction of waste and emissions. This will be achieved by increased efficiency in the use of energy, water and raw materials, and developing products using the most sustainable raw materials Haymes commitment to this policy is the very reason today we are introducing the Ecocare Wash-up Treatment System. Haymes identified that whilst there are many environmental measures being implemented from a manufacturing and product sense there was a significant component being left out. That being the clean-up of equipment after painting. The introduction of the Haymes Ecocare System allows painting professionals to also implement environmental responsible practices. THE ECOCARE SOLUTION Haymes Ecocare is a multi-function wash-up and treatment system for painters designed by painters. Painters can conveniently wash-up their painting equipment (brushes, rollers, trays) into the unit. The in-built storage tank collects all the waste water, avoiding unsightly paint stains on the job site from the clean-up. Once the tank reaches the fill line it is a simple process to turn the waste water into clean water leaving solids that can be disposed through general waste. Importantly the Ecocare process is fast, efficient and doesn t require constant attention. Painters can walk away from the unit as the water separation process occurs and again when the liquid is being drained. The Ecocare system complies with EPA guidelines for paint disposal and importantly preserves our environment from unnecessary contamination. YOUR COMPLIANCE OBLIGATION Painters must not release paint, thinners and other liquids into stormwater drains Painters may be prosecuted for pollution if found to be washing paint waste into the stormwater system. Paint will cause major environmental problems if it gets into the stormwater system as these types of materials can kill aquatic animals and plants and ruin their habitats. It can also affect the places we swim and the water we drink and wash in. 3 ECOCARE STEP-BY-STEP GUIDE THE ECOCARE PROCESS The Ecocare system is compact, portable and conveniently easy to use. Following the usual cleaning of equipment there is no constant attention required meaning users will spend as little as 15 minutes to run the treatment cycle. Importantly painters can continue to undertake other tasks while the system progresses through the cycles. The unit features a ribbed cleaning shelf where users can place their equipment for cleaning. The ribbed lid can also be slid across the unit to shield any spray from the user. RECOMMENDED CLEANING PRACTICE Following the below steps will enable efficient use of the Ecocare treatment system. The system is not designed to be a paint disposal product and should the outlined steps not be followed it may affect the efficiency of the water treatment cycle. 1. Return excess paint from trays and post into the paint can. 2. Scrape excess paint from brushes and rollers. The use of a roller scraper will ensure that most paint has been removed from the rollers. 3. Wash and rinse brushes, pots and roller trays before discarding dirty water into cleaning station. 4. The use of roller cleaners roller cleaner is the most effective and water saving technique for rollers. Performing the above steps will enable a more efficient clean-up and will reduce the volume of water required to clean, enabling a greater number of equipment to be washed into the system. The 60L Wash Treatment System can accommodate cleaning of multiple brushes and rollers. In fact washing can continue until the water level reaches the bottom edge of the cleaning shelf. We refer to this as the fill level. Once this point is reached the waste water is ready for treatment. The Ecocare Wash Treatment Powder is used to separate the solids from the water. Simply sprinkle the 2 scoops of powder across the surface, stir in and in a matter of minutes you will notice the separation process to occur. Typically for the EWTS-60 system you will need to allow 30 minutes for the process to complete. Once the solids have dropped to the bottom there should be clear water on top. This water is now safe to release either into a sewer or onto the ground. Simply open the ball valve tap and allow to drain. Once complete the lower outlet can be opened. This will allow release of the paint solids into the filter bag attached to the unit. The filter bag will catch the required solids whilst the water will drain through the bag. After allowing for the water to drain the solids can be disposed of through general waste disposal. We encourage Ecocare users to perform the treatment cycle onsite so clients gain an appreciation for your environmental considerations and measures that your business is taking.
