1 District Hospital The new ODFS Leg Cuff is now available to all Outreach Teams. Users of all ODFS devices will be able to upgrade to this system. There are a number of potential logistic issues to the upgrade system at a distance and we want to ensure that the process runs smoothly. Your OML Mentors will be contacting you in the next few weeks to arrange time for training to take place. In order for you to demonstrate the system with patients we will provide you with one Demonstration Kit, free of charge. The product will be supplied to you boxed containing the following components: 1 x Leg Cuff Plastic Shell (L and R) 1 x Pack Velcro-backed Electrodes 1 x Strap (S, M and L) 1 x 25cm Electrode lead 1 x Extension Kit 1 x Plastic Spray Bottle 1 x ODFS Pace (XL) plastic holder 1 x Liner Kit 1 x 35cm Footswitch Lead 1 x Electrode Locator Template (L and R) 1 x Plastic Storage Bag Instructions for Use We will write to outreach patients directly from (see attached letter), informing them of the availability of the ODFS Leg Cuff and the option to upgrade from their current system. As you hold the appointment diaries and know when patients are due in for their appointments, we think the best process is that if a patient would like an upgrade, that they let you know in good time before they are due into clinic. If you could then let Susanne know so that we have at least a week s notice, then that gives plenty of time to arrange to get the ODFS Leg Cuff Kit, up to you. In order to supply you with the correct size leg strap we will need to know the circumference of the user s leg around the head of fibula in cm or which size leg strap. There are three sizes of leg strap: small, medium and large. We would request payment by card over the phone, by the user, on the day the ODFS Leg Cuff is fitted. We do not think it is appropriate or good clinical practice to try and supply and fit the leg cuff in a Pathway Appointment and we therefore recommend you charge the user for an extra 30 minutes of your time at your local rate..

2 District Hospital ODFS Leg Cuff Upgrade Clinicians Check List Please ensure that you review the following with each user. Users of all ODFS devices will be able to purchase the ODFS Leg Cuff kit for a price of 150 ( 180 including VAT at prevailing rates). The time needed to set-up the new Leg Cuff (an extra half-an-hour appointment for which there will be a charge at your local rate). The cost of the velcro-backed electrodes will be per pack. If the patient is on a funded pathway they will need to pay 4.75 per pack towards the extra costs involved in manufacturing this product. 1 year warranty for Leg Cuff shell Costs of ODFS leg Cuff outside of the warranty period Charges to replace liner Carrying Out a Leg Cuff Set Up Patients can be set up with the ODFS Leg Cuff from immediately from Set-up 1, or at any other Pathway appointment, if you have established the correct size of leg strap and ordered the kit in advance. Size is dictated by strap(s, M, L) as all cuff exoskeletons are the same size. To enable advance ordering, the patient, carer or a clinician will need to have taken a measurement of the leg circumference around the head of fibula, or identified the correct size through fitting with an assessment kit and communicated this to OML customer services at least a week ahead of the appointment.

3 District Hospital If the patient is going to return to clinic after a pathway appointment, rather than measure it would be better to assess for the correct leg strap by using the three sizes of demonstration straps available in your Outreach kit. Check at the start of the appointment that patients are aware of the purchase and ongoing costs for the ODFS Leg Cuff Once you have completed setting up the patient with the ODFS Leg Cuff the patient should leave with all components, including extension plates not used. Patients have purchased all components of the kit and it is their responsibility to keep them and bring them along to future appointments in case changes are required. It is recommended users keep the spare components in their FES kit bags rather than transport the ODFS Leg Cuff box around. Please refer to Clinician and User Leg Cuff Manuals for detailed instructions on fitting an ODFS Leg Cuff Remember to photocopy the electrode locator acetate and file this in the patient s notes to record placement. Remember if you need to experiment with electrode placement at follow appointments, to remove the electrode pads from the cuff. When optimal positioning is established reapply the Leg Cuff to the leg to reattach the electrodes. The last three pages of this document are the letter we will send out to patients to inform them of the possibility of a ODFS Pace Leg Cuff Upgrade and how this is done.

4 District Hospital Dear ODFS User, is pleased to announce the availability of the new ODFS Leg Cuff, the latest product in the range of Odstock Dropped Foot Stimulators and accessories. The Leg Cuff is designed to hold the electrodes within the cuff/ liner and can be used with, or without, the stimulator attached depending on user preference. Having the electrodes housed within the cuff makes placing and removing the system easier and improves the aesthetics of the system. When paired with an ODFS Pace XL stimulator for example, the one electrode wire can be contained within the cuff. NB Stimulator not included This technological advancement is driven by patient convenience and has been developed to fit the broadest range of clinical need through a combination of mounting positions, strap adjustment and extension plates as required. The Leg Cuff will require initial fitting by your clinician. This charge will be communicated to you by your local clinical Outreach service. Where funding is in place for treatment, those consumables marked with an * will continue to be supplied as part of the treatment package however, those consumables marked with a, which are exclusively designed for use with the cuff, will need to be purchased separately as required (please see below).
