4 T H E S O L A R P A N E L The solar panel is built with monocrystalline solar cells. These cells are placed in a rigid anodized aluminum frame with tempered glass protecting the cells from the elements. An adjustable support is mounted to place the panel in an optimal angle to the sun. The Rated power of the system is 10 watts in very sunny conditions the solar panel will be able to exceed its rated power by a full 100%. Being a portable solution the panel has a weight of 1.4 kg The panel is equipped with a 2 meter long power cable to connect panel to the Power supply unit. 5 T H E P O W E R C O N T R O L L E R The power controller is the brain of the system and with multiple integrated circuits it covers a wide range of tasks, Converting the solar energy to the proper charging voltage to charge the battery. A save charging voltage is needed to prevent battery damage and to ensure a long battery life. Electronically protects the system from: Overloads, Overheating, deep cycle, and Short-circuits without the use of disposable fuses. This design is used to make sure the system is maintenance free even in under the stress of improper operation or anomalies. Displaying system status. The power controller board is equipped with 3 led lights to create a simple cost effective status display which is read as below. Charging status indication: Green LED During charging via the 10W solar panel, the green LED lights up. As soon as the 10W Solar Panel stops charging the Power System the green LED dies out. Battery power storage indication: Yellow LED The Yellow LED lights up when the Power System is charged and ready to be worked with. As soon as the power is low the Yellow LED will start to flicker and after one minute the Power System will shut itself down.

6 Loads working status indication: Red LED When system is deeply discharged by loads short circuit or overload, the controller s LED indication will show the following: The red LED will light up when the Power System is protected from being discharged. The red LED will sparkle in case of a short circuit and whenever the Power System is being overloaded. On our New 2.0 version the power controller will have exact 12V DC output current also in highly charged battery situations to ensure a perfect power supply for even the most sensitive equipment.

7 T H E B A T T E R Y A N D H O U S I N G The choice for the 12V 7AH lead acid maintenance battery is made with the following subjects in mind: Cost effectiveness; Compared to all other battery systems lead acid is the most cost effective system available. To ensure a maintenance free system the battery needs to be maintenance free as well. Moreover, these batteries are better suited for the active cycles (charging and de-charging ) this system demands. Lead acid batteries are still one of the most durable batteries on the market compared to batteries found in laptops mobile phones and such these batteries have a much longer life time. Since the solar panel and power controller will out life any battery available on the market lead acid batteries are the most common replacement batteries available. The Sheet metal Housing is a durable cost effective solution which houses all the components inside.
