1 A Review on Manual Assisted Gravity Pendulum Lamp Vansh Aggarwal a, Ankit Saini a, Akash Singh a, Shubhang Jadia a, Gaurav Gupta a a Department of Mechanical & Automation Engineering, ASE, Amity University, Uttar Pradesh, Noida. ABSTRACT Machine studied under this paper is designed for the purpose of producing electricity with the use of gravity. Machine is used to develop electricity by means of gravity, pendulum, gears, generator, etc. However, nowadays task of developing reliable sources of free energy is being picked up by small inventors and designers, genuinely concerned with the improvement of the human condition. With the help of gravity and pendulum it is possible to develop and demonstrate a state of the art project that can act as an alternative of conventional illumination resources can be used in rural India and could bring hope towards them for a good future with surety of its abundance. Key Words: Gravity, Pendulum, Oscillation, Electricity. 1.INTRODUCTION A new concept of generation of Electricity from a medium that is still untapped. This medium is neither dependant on bright sunlight nor on fast winds. The beauty is that it does not even cause the global warming and does not use the dying oil reserves either. CONCEPT: Gravity is a force that exists all over the world. Even on the highest peak and the lowest trench. The purpose of this report is to explain a design of a machine that can somehow utilize gravitational force to rotate the dynamo and generate electricity that can be used to light our bulb charge batteries and even large enlighten CFL. Such a machine will keep on producing electricity forever and ever without the need of inputs like Air, light or fossil fuel. Machine can be so small that it can be installed on the table or even in the smallest outfit that will generate sufficient electricity to meet the needs of illumination level. Research papers and patents are used to includes all the different ways to extract and generating power in different ways. Hazardous kerosene lamps, still used in many developing countries like India, are a major expense for many of the world s estimated 1.5 billion families without electricity. Poor households typically spend at least 10 percent of their income on kerosene, as much as $36 billion a year worldwide, according to the World Bank. So far, efforts to use solar energy to power lights in developing nations have run up against cost and technical challenges. Attempts to use hydroelectric micro grids or repurpose old car batteries have also been problematic, says Joe Hale, president of the nonprofit Global Bright Light Foundation. Advantages:- 1. Main advantage is illumination of LED or CFL will be done for free of cost Producing free electricity with the help of pendulum oscillations and gear mechanism without producing harmful gases and smoke. 2. Production of electricity with just a push of a pendulum. 3. Any kind of fuel should not be used, just using gravitational force and some mechanical energy. 4. The whole setup is cheap and can be easily manufactured. 5. This whole setup is portable and can be easily installed at any place. 6. No climate conditions are required it can work at any place. Disadvantage:- 1. There is no such big disadvantage of this project but there are certain limitations of this project that it can produce low watt electricity depending upon the size of pendulum and amplitude of pendulum oscillations. 112

2 2. Literature Review P Duclos et al. has worked for the power generation of this product where it produce electricity. This invention relates to a pendulum mechanism and power generation system use of pendulum. In this, the present invention relates to mechanism and method for converting gravity into a rotational movement in order to actuate device like a generator. Having at least one pendulum comprising a free mass to pendulant about a too and fro axis and a actuator for applying force to the mass in the direction of pendulum to and fro for at least a portion of swing a drive belt train between a at least one pendulum and the generator for transfer of energy between a pendulum and a generator [1] With the help of this patent we have found that theswing of pendulum has kinetic and potential energy and form this we use this for energy generation of future works, it can generate more amount of power as compared to different type of other non conventional energy. Bill et al. has developed a close loop system which apparently keep itself operating, while having energy left over for the external use, using some new energy sources yet to be appreciated by modern physics. As the core elements, Bill takes a 30day clock pendulum which he got from Korea that has a winding mechanism which help to keeps the pendulum swinging for next 30 days.bill attached 2 magnets on place of the weight on the pendulum, and then placed a fixed coil in a way that with each period of the magnets swing, it pas into the coil which is inducing electrical flow in the coils. On other receiving end of that electrical flow was a storage of 425 small capacitors [2] from this experiment bill has developed mechanical swing of pendulum can cause oscillations in pendulum due to which mechanical energy is converted in electrical energy. S.Nithiya et al. has research and developed an energy harvesting technique by using pendulum to and fro motion which help us to harvest energies from different areas in easy and cheap way without harming environment, after reading and understanding this paper we have used the kinetic energy of pendulum oscilation to convert it in a electrical energy [3] There is big amount of mechanical energy that can be harvested and recycled from surrounding environment. They developed an oscillation motion based power generators that sustain its motion with cheap maintenance providing good voltage output peaks from reciprocating mechanical structures. The reciprocating effect of device has increased by using different gear mechanism that is made of shaft with dynamo. Here we will demonstrating lighting up a commercial LED light bulbs by harvesting mechanical energy of the pendulum to and fro motion. This project we can show a best way of developing a sustain, low maintenance system to harvesting electrical energy from mechanical work of pendulum. M. Musharrafa et al. has designed an oscillating pendulum coil for power generation. The purpose of the system was to generate energy by wind blowing power. There are two types of this System are explained and from this term paper we have got idea with the help of which pendulum oscillation can be more on up gradation of our system. Flapping wing is attached to the coil rod pendulum (C.R.P) which will oscillate under the effect of magnetic field and generates electrical energy. Type-1. North Pole of semi circled magnet is putted under coil pendulum and the other south pole of magnet is kept above the coil pendulum. Type-2. Of this system, a bar magnet is placed in a coil of copper wires wrapped on the glass core. A Bar magnet is attached with the pendulum having weight of mass m and When wind pressure strikes at the wing, the pendulum oscillates and in the result bar magnet moves up and down in coil [4] The phenomenon to convert pendulum oscillating energy into electrical energy in both types uses the definition of faraday s law to generate electricity, which says that, when a coils of conductor moves under the effect of magnetic field than magnetic line either cuts the turns of coil or conversely. When the magnet is moving in a coil of conductor then emf will be induced in the coil. 3. PROPOSED DESIGN SETUP Block Diagram of the system given below deals with the overall system designs and process flow controls. 113

3 Pendulum is suspended with weight and hinged with spur gear so that it can swing freely about its equilibrium position. Initially pendulum is at static inertia and when a pull or push is given and pendulum get displaced from its equilibrium position it forced to come at its initial position due to gravitational force. When pendulum is released, the restoring force combined with the pendulum's weight causes it to oscillate about the equilibrium position, swinging back and forth.pendulum length 23.5 inch. 200g weight is attached to pendulum at 21inch. At 21 inch Maximum torque is attained because torque is directly proportional to length of pendulum.3 inch diameter PVC pipe is used as spur gear for enhancement of RPM and for reduction of load on pendulum. Piece of PVC pipe is used as spur gear to reduce amount of load applied on pendulum. Here mechanism of gear ratio is used to enhance of RPM in PMG. Permanent Magnetic generator is used to generate electricity by converting mechanical energy into electrical energy. PMG generator is uses permanent magnets to produce Alternating current. Unlike a dynamo, there is no commutator and so they cannot produce direct current. PMG generator is used for electricity generation because:- Start-up torque required is NM Minimum load factor 4V 1.5 amp battery is used because:- It is cheap Voltage output sustain for longer time 60% efficiency Here use bridge rectifier is to convert Ac voltage to DC voltage. Bridge rectifier is a full wave rectifier circuit using the combination of four diodes to form a bridge. It has the advantage that it converts both the half cycles of AC input into DC output. During the positive half cycle of secondary voltage, diodes D2 and D3 are forward biased and diodes D1 and D4 are reverse biased. Now the current flows through D2 >Load >D3.During the negative half cycle of the secondary voltage, diodes D1 and D4 are forward biased and rectifier diodes D2 and D3 are reverse biased. Now the current flows through D4 >Load >D. In both the cycles, load current flows in the same direction. Hence pulsating DC voltage is produce as output. Input =>Output => 114

4 Addition of a capacitor at the output converts the pulsating DC voltage to fixed DC voltage. Up to a time period of t=1s input voltage is increasing, so the capacitor charges up to peak value of the input. After t=1s input starts to decrease, then the voltage across the capacitor reverse biases the diodes D2 and D4 and therefore it will not conduct. Now capacitor discharges through the load, then voltage across the capacitor decreases. When the peak voltage exceeds the capacitor voltage, diodes D2 or D4 forward biases and as a result capacitor again charges to the peak value. This process continues. Hence we get almost smooth DC voltage Inverter is used to convert DC to AC Step up transformer convert 4V 1.5Amp DC to up to 25V 0.5Amp AC Mosfet transistors are used to filter DC Purpose of heating coil is to maintain induction Ceramic capacitor maintain voltage dropout System will be powered or pushed by a external force and then to and fro pendulum motion takes place doing several operations with pulley and dynamo. The developed system would thus be more cost and power efficient than the existing systems which are more expensive. 4. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION Number of oscillations are doesn t depend upon length of pendulum, oscillations are depends upon weight attached to the pendulum. Under the act of gravitational force when we give force to the pendulum it oscillate maximum when maximum weight are attached at the bottom of the pendulum. Under number of observation maximum number of oscillations can be evaluated and which are enough to glow 4 1.5V,0.5A LEDs frequently and to store in battery. 5 5.Conculusion With the increasing demand for energy requirements it can be met by alternate energy resource such as earth gravity pull and it can generate more amount of power as compared to different other type of non conventional energy. Conserving energy by converting mechanical energy of oscillating pendulum to electrical energy with the help of pendulum, pulley, generator and shafts, producing enough amount of electricity to glow a LED blub just by putting a little external human effort to villages where electricity can be reach for 24 hours a day. 6.
