2 Dynadimmer Philips Gardco is proud to offer Dynadimmer, a simple stand-alone dimming control solution for greater luminaire efficiency. Dynadimmer reduces the power consumption of outdoor LED luminaires in a variety of preset or custom scenarios. This stand-alone solution allows owners to operate a greener business, and ultimately save energy and costs while creating an inviting nighttime environment. Our Philips Dynadimmer option is a simple, low cost and hassle free dimming solution for peak vs. off-peak hours of illumination. It is what we call a smart system in that it requires absolutely nothing in the way of additional wiring or secondary controls to install. 2

3 An adaptable solution The Dynadimmer represents a highly advanced solution that can be easily integrated into a wide range of luminaires, for many lighting application and zone requirements. Dynadimmer offers many innovative new ways to help preserve the environment, reduce energy costs, and harmonize lighting to human needs. It is flexible enough to suit the requirements of almost any project imaginable, and can optimize the lifespan of luminaires while keeping lighting uniform and more comfortable. Our pre-programmed dimming profiles automatically take into account seasonal changes based on geographical locations by continuously monitoring the evening s midpoint. All profiles can be adjusted in the field for additional adaptability. 3

4 Safety Making light comfortable and safe. End users can provide a safe and inviting nighttime experience year round to the public. The light will still be kept to a chosen, safe and uniform level, providing a more comfortable environment when full output is not required. Dimming is carefully scheduled at levels that meet current local utility programs, Model Lighting Ordinance curfews and Title-24 requirements. References: 1. Simple PC-based and user-friendly software can be used to modify the schedules, and a sturdy handheld tool is available as an option to re-program your units on-site. If needed, our Dynadimmer option can be ordered fully customizable to suit the needs of more specific applications. With Philips Dynadimmer, customers are equipped to react to increases in kilowatt rates and economical demand responses. Economic demand response is employed to allow electricity customers to curtail their consumption when the productive or convenience of consuming that electricity is worth less to them than paying for the electricity. 1 This allows end-users to provide a safe and inviting nighttime experience while saving energy, and promoting a greener self image by helping reduce environmental impact. Furthermore, adjusting light levels to meet specific criteria may help to obtain LEED innovation points, qualify for utility rebates and tax incentive programs. When specifiying controls with Philips Gardco s 0-10V LED luminaires, the predicted LED life increases compared to luminaire configurations without controls. 7 What makes Dynadimmer the ultimate savings investment Dynadimmer coupled with Philips Gardco LED luminaires offer a new way to save even more energy by simply lowering the output of a luminaire during off-peak periods compared to noncontrollable HID luminaires. 76% savings over 400W HID pulse start system In the example below, at $0.11 per kilowatt hour, the HID system costs you about $12,000 per year to operate. With AeroScape and no controls, it costs you $4,700 to operate. A savings of more than $7,000 per year, or 61% compared to traditional HID. 8 How does it work? Dynadimmer is a simple stand-alone smart control system designed to reduce energy consumption by using a variety of preset or custom dimming profiles requiring no internal clock, additional wiring or controls. Everything is based on the midpoint of the time the Dynadimmer configured luminaire peaks, this will vary from summer to winter months. The Dynadimmer configured luminaire will continuously calculate the midpoint of the evening based on its start and stop time. This is known as its dimming profile. Philips Gardco offers three standard dimming profiles and a custom programming option for factory or field commissioning. Midpoint 4-Hour Safety - DS The DS profile focuses on safety by dimming during a limited off peak period of four hours - two hours before and after its measured midpoint. DS decreases light levels to a user specified 25, 50 or 75% level. 9 Custom - DCP The Dynadimmer can be ordered with a custom factory DCP profile to suit your specific application, allowing for up to 5 time events and 5 dimming levels from 10 to 100% of total wattage. The DCP will allow end-users to define their desired system in the field if specified with DYN-KIT1 or DYN-KIT2. For factory custom programming, Philips Gardco will require an approved submittal to set profile. Contact factory for details. The USB programmng cable is used to directly link and program Dynadimmer 0-10V from a PC. When using this cable, no programmer tool is needed. Dynadimmer software has a dedicated button to activate the USB feature. Dynadimmer software Philips offers free software for download that can be used to create a specific dimming profile. Dynadimmer software can be downloaded free-of-charge from the Philips website at com/dynadimmerus. Dynadimmer programming kit The Dynadimmer programming kit enables users to re-program the individual Dynadimmers either on or off-site. The kit includes the handheld programmer, cable device and software. The Dynadimmer programmer is powered by four AA or LR6 batteries. 9
