2 A WORD OF INTRODUCTION THE FIRST IMPORTANT ENTERPRISE OF ŠKODA PRAHA INVEST IN RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR A WORD FROM INVESTOR We are glad that we could expand our portfolio of operated renewable energy sources by another two wind power plants which have ideal conditions for effective production of clean and ecological power in the Vysočina Region. Thanks to the approach of our partners led by the EPC contractor, ŠKODA PRAHA Invest, and excellent cooperation with the village of Věžnice, we were able to fi nish the assembly in advance to the original time schedule despite the short work interruption caused by unfavourable climatic conditions. 3 THE FIRST IMPORTANT ENTERPRISE OF ŠKODA PRAHA INVEST IN RENEWABLE ENERGY SECTOR The fi rst considerable project of an EPC contractor of power generation projects, ŠKODA PRAHA Invest, in the renewable energy sector is the construction of two wind power plants in the village of Věžnice, located in the Vysočina Region in the Czech Republic and constructed for the ČEZ Renewable Sources company. EACH OF ALMOST 130 M HIGH WIND POWER PLANTS GOT 2 MW POWER OUTPUT AND PRO- DUCES UP TO 9,000 MWH OF ENERGY, WHICH REPRESENTS THE APPROXIMATE CONSUMP- TION OF ALMOST THREE THOUSAND HOUSEHOLDS. ŠKODA PRAHA Invest signed the contract for EPC delivery with ČEZ Renewable Sources at the beginning of September 2009 and the project, producing 100% clean power, was already put into operation in December Successful acceptance of the work was preceded by fulfi lment of all requirements including tests, trial run and receiving of power production licence from Energy Regulatory Offi ce. Despite the short interruption of the works caused by climatic conditions which play crucial role in installation of the high columns the assembly was finished in advance to the original time schedule. ŠKODA PRAHA INVEST THUS CONFIRMED ITS STRONG POSITION OF A VERSATILE EPC SUPPLIER OF POWER GENERATION PROJECTS.
4 ABOUT THE LOCATION, ABOUT THE PROJECT ABOUT THE LOCATION The power plants are located in the village of Věžnice in the Vysočina Region (Czech Republic) between Polná and Přibyslav, 30 km south-west from Havlíčkův Brod at the elevation of 500 meters above sea-level in a place with favourable wind conditions. The wind speed in 100 m above the ground is 6 to 7 m/s on average. ABOUT THE PROJECT The construction of the 2 2 MW wind farm in Věžnice was the fi rst considerable project of ŠKODA PRAHA Invest in the renewable energy sector. The investor and the customer is ČEZ Renewable Sources. ONE OF THE MAIN REQUIREMENTS OF THE CUSTOMER WAS TO ENTER THE TEST OPERATI- ON UNTIL THE END OF On the one hand the ŠKODA PRAHA Invest project team was faced with the diffi cult task to meet the ambitious implementation deadline, on the other hand this challenge was viewed as the possibility to present itself as a competent renewable energy contractor, using valuable experience of ŠKODA PRAHA Invest as an EPC supplier and designer of power generation projects.

Each concrete foundation contains hundreds of tons of the highest quality concrete and tens of tons of reinforcement steel. The concrete laying itself was done by continuous pouring. 1.6 km long electrical connection to a new 22 kv connection point was constructed. Electrical connection crosses three pipelines, and leads under 400 kv high voltage line and both urban and suburban part of the village. ŠKODA PRAHA Invest, EN ISO 9001:2008 and EN ISO 14001:2004 certifi ed company, sees the environmental protection as its priority and is fully aware that all actions affect the environment. The construction itself could therefore start only after the hatching of Corn Crake and Common Quail was completed, not sooner than August 15. At the same time it was vital to complete both power plants until the end of the year. DESPITE THE TIGHT SCHEDULE WE MANAGED TO SHORTEN THE CONSTRUCTION PERIOD. THE WINDMILLS STARTED TURNING ALREADY ON NOVEMBER 30, AND DECEMBER 3, Note: WPP = wind power plant
6 ABOUT THE CONSTRUCTION Meeting the construction time schedule was, from the very beginning, considered as the biggest risk. The request of the customer was to launch the power plants into operation until the end of 2009 at the latest. We were building in the Vysočina Region during winter, which is a great risk in itself. To get the whole picture it is necessary to point out that the wind power plants are usually built in locations with favourable weather conditions, which in combination with the elevation above the sea level and the season potentially complicate the construction. IN ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS OF THE IMPLEMENTATION ALL DEADLINES WERE MET AND SOME OF THEM IN ADVANCE. ALSO THE FINAL PROJECT BUDGET WAS SLIGHTLY LOWER THAN EXPECTED. The biggest risk was the timely transport of oversized loads to the site and construction itself, especially manipulation with heavy parts and its placing in the unfavourable climatic conditions. Construction and reconstruction of 1,600 m of roads was necessary to allow the access to the site, along with extensive manipulation and assembly areas. Static reconstruction of the bridge over the River Šlapanka in Věžnice was necessary. It is also worth mentioning that 400 kv high voltage transmission line Močovka Čebín, Ultra High Pressure RWE Transgas pipeline, DN 500 Mero ČR oil pipeline and other local networks lead between the two power stations. The communication with Civil Aviation Authority and Army of the Czech Republic was also important, because the main erection crane and also the wind power plants themselves create obstruction to air traffi c.
7 ABOUT THE TECHNOLOGY REpower MM92 is a wind power plant with a variable rotation speed and 2,050 kw of specifi c electrical power. Its generator is driven by a three bladed rotor with 92.5 m diameter with an independent electrical regulation of each blade pitch. The rotor drives the direct current through the planetary gear unit with frontal wheels with 1:120 gear ratio and allowing variable rotation, with the total power of 2,050 kw / 50 Hz. Turning of the rotor gondola is achieved by four electrical motors so that the rotor plane is always perpendicular to the wind direction. Three blades create the rotor, connected with bolds through the fl ange to the rotor cone ball bearings. Each blade is equipped with an independent control of pitch along its longitudinal axis. The most effi cient utilization of the wind power is thus ensured by setting of the correct pitch, along with the control of rotor rotation speed and shutdown. The control speed is also suffi cient for emergency shutdown m long and 5 m wide blades are made of composite sandwich. Blades are equipped with an aerodynamic extension preventing streamline separation. Each blade is equipped with a separate electric pitch control system which compensates even for wind fl ow variations in different altitudes. The pitch change speed during emergency shutdown is 6-7 /s. The maximal angle change is 90.
8 CONSTRUCTION OF GONDOLA The gondola provides suffi cient space for technology and service works of maintenance personnel, with the minimal size and weight at the same time. The technology located in the gondola is accessible both by normal access through a tower tube by two-person lift or ladder and through a roof hatch from the outside by crane. Even the large machinery could thus be exchanged without the necessity to dismantle the complete gondola. An electrical crane is installed in the gondola to lift heavy items from the ground. Needless to say, the service control centre is also here. This allows the power plant system to be controlled directly from the gondola, especially for setup and testing. With regard to this possibility all rotating parts in the gondola are covered to minimize the risk of injury. The emergency switch is also located within operator s reach. The gondola construction comprises of forged steel frame with a fastened gondola rotation ball bearing with direction control. Individual drive components, such as the main direction ball bearing house, main shaft, gearbox, hydraulic disc brake and generator are also connected to the frame. The outer shell is made of reinforced plastic shell with a meteorological station and aircraft collision prevention lighting located on the roof. The generator drive frame itself is mounted with three points in damping elements directly above the main fl ange. The other two damping elements are used on the gearbox. CONSTRUCTION OF GEARBOX AND TOWER The gearbox is designed as the frontal wheel planetary type. The gearing is designed for the maximal effectiveness and lowest possible noise level during operation. The transfer ratio is 1:120. The tower design is a conical steel welded tube consisting of four sections connected by fl ange with a rigid bolt connection. The fi rst section is the foundation ring which is a fi xed part of the reinforced steel tower foundation. Three assembled tube sections, each with a resting platform, contain a ladder for emergency exit from the gondola, a lift for two and a generator power outlet. The main control centre, converter, terminal box, entrance door and other power plant equipment is located at the tower bottom. The complete tower is protected against corrosion by a multi layer coating which meets the DIN EN ISO standard requirements.

10 ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CONTROL OF WIND POWER PLANTS DURING NORMAL OPERATION IS DONE REMOTELY THROUGH THE REGUARD WEB INTERFACE AND THEIR OPERATION IS VIRTUALLY AUTOMATIC. The wind power plant is equipped with a generator operating on 690 V with variable rotation and a converter. This allows the range of available revolutions of ± 40% of nominal. Maximal system effectiveness is thus achieved together with the rotation controlled by setting the rotor blade s pitch. Therefore the power plant could be operated with a power output which is almost constant. The asynchronous generator with double excitation uses the advantages of IGBT technology. This system guarantees the power generation with voltage and frequency demanded by the distribution grid independent of generator revolutions. The output generator voltage is transformed to 22 kv. The revolution speed and power are automatically regulated, independently of the current strength and speed of the wind. THE POWER PRODUCED FROM THE COMMISSIONING TO THE END OF MARCH 2011 IS ALMOST 6,500 MWH.
