This charger unit has a molded plug with a 5amp fuse, the plug is to BS1363/A standard. The fuse holder is in the center of the plug between the three pins. To remove and replace the fuse get a small screwdriver and place at one end and prize it up, remove and replace with a new 5amp fuse and put cover back over fuse. Do not use any other rated type fuse, as this can be dangerous The Cordless tool noise output may exceed 85dB(A) at the workplace. In this instance, wear ear protection. 4 GENERAL SAFETY RULES! WARNING Read all instructions Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term power tool in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains operated (corded) power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS WORK AREA Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks, which may ignite the dust or fumes. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. ELECTRICAL SAFETY Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering the power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. POWER TOOL SAFETY 4 When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock PERSONAL SAFETY Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hardhat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injury. Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the OFF position before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch ON invites accidents. Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards. 5 POWER TOOL SAFETY POWER TOOL USE AND CARE SERVICE Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. Do not use the tool if the switch does not turn it ON or OFF. Any power tool that cannot be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. Store idle power tools out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation. 5 Tool service must be performed only by qualified personnel. Service or maintenance performed by unqualified personnel could result in risk of injury. When servicing a tool, use only identical replacement parts. Follow instructions in the Maintenance section of this manual. Use of unauthorized parts or failure to follow Maintenance instructions may create a risk of electric shock or injury. SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES! WARNING For your safety, do not plug in your charger or install the battery in the tool until you have read and understood this Owner s Manual. WEAR EYE PROTECTION. Use face or dust mask along with safety goggles if operation is dusty. Use hearing protection, particularly during extended periods of operation, wear safety shoes. Wear ear protectors with impact drills. Exposure to noise can cause hearing loss DO NOT wear gloves, jewellery, neckties or loose clothing. DO NOT drill, cut or sand material too small to be securely held. ALWAYS keep hands out of the path of the impact wrench square anvil. Avoid awkward hand positions where a sudden slip could cause your hand to move into the path of the anvil, socket or bit. SECURE WORKPIECE. Use clamps or a vice to hold the work when practical. It is safer than using your hand and it frees both hands to operate the tool. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR REFERENCE

6 SPECIFIC SAFETY RULES cont d TO AVOID INJURY from accidental starting, always remove the battery from the tool before installing or removing a Socket or other, accessory or attachment. POWER TOOL SAFETY 1. Wash quickly with soap and water 2. Neutralize with a mild acid such as lemon juice or vinegar 3. If liquid gets into your eyes, flush immediately with clean water for a minimum of 10 minutes and seek medical attention. NOTE: The liquid is 20-35% solution of potassium hydroxide. BEFORE STARTING the operation, jog the Impact wrench switch to make sure the impact wrench bit does not wobble or vibrate. MAKE SURE the spindle has come to a complete stop before touching the impact wrench head or attempting to change the bits. BATTERY & CHARGER SAFETY Do not store or carry battery so that metal objects can come in contact with exposed metal ends. Do not place the battery in aprons, pockets, drawers, etc. with loose nails, screws, keys etc. The battery could short circuit causing a fire, personal injury or damage to the battery. Never attempt to open the battery for any reason. If the housing of the battery breaks or cracks, immediately discontinue use and do not recharge. Do not charge the battery if it is wet or shows any evidence of corrosion. Do not incinerate the battery. It can explode in a fire. Do not use an extension cord. Plug the charger cord directly into an electrical outlet. Use the charger only in a standard 230/240v/50Hz electrical outlet. Charge the battery only with the charger supplied with the drill. Do not use the charger in wet or damp conditions. It is intended for indoor use only. Do not use the charger near sinks or tubs. Do not immerse the charger in water. Do not allow the cord to hang over the edge of a table or counter or touch hot surfaces. The charger should be placed away from sinks and hot surfaces. Do not use charger to charge any batteries other than the drill batteries. Other batteries may explode. Do not operate charger if cord or plug is damaged. Replace damaged cord and plug immediately. A small leakage from the battery may occur under extreme usage, charging or temperature conditions. This does not indicate a failure. If however, the outer seal is broken and this leakage gets on your skin, follow these steps: SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS FOR REFERENCE 6

7 Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped or otherwise damaged in any way. Have a qualified technician examine the charger and repair it if necessary. Do not disassemble the charger. For best results, do not charge the battery when the battery or air temperature is below 50 o F (10 o C) or above 105 o F (40 o C). Unplug the charger when not in use and before cleaning or maintenance. Do not abuse the cord. To reduce the risk of damage to the electric cord or plug, never carry the charger by the cord or yank the cord to pull the plug. Always grasp the plug and pull to disconnect. 8 KNOW YOUR IMPACT WRENCH Square anvil Forward Reverse switch Trigger switch Battery Battery tool use and care Ensure the switch is in the off position before inserting the battery pack. Inserting the battery pack into power tools that have the switch on invites accidents When battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paper clips, coins, keys, nails, screws or other small metal objects that can make a connection from one terminal to another. Shorting the battery terminals together may cause burns or a fire. 8

11 ASSEMBLY & OPERATION CHARGING THE BATTERY 1. Place the charging stand near a 230/240V/50Hz electrical outlet. 2. Take the BS1363A plug (Fig1)(1) put it into the 230/240v/50Hz mains outlet. 3. Turn the battery (2) upside down and slide it into the matching slots in the charger stand (3) do not insert the battery the wrong way round. NOTES: a) Make sure the battery slides fully into the slots in the charger. b) The red indicator light will come on when the battery is properly inserted into the charger stand. c) If red indicator light does not come on, check to make sure battery is inserted fully into the charger and the electrical outlet is live. d) When the green indicator lights up, this means that the battery has been fully recharged. Only then can the power plug be pulled out of the socket. The battery can then be taken out of the base and can be used immediately. NOTES: a) A new battery or one that is completely run down should be charged for hours (for fast charge). After normal use, a battery should be fully charged in about 1 hour. b) It is normal for the battery charger to hum and be warm to the touch during operation. c) If the battery does not charge properly, check to make sure the electrical outlet is live and that the air surrounding the battery and charger is between 10 o C (50 o F) and 40 o C (105 o F). The charger in Fig (1) may very from kit to kit this picture is for reference only. INSTALLING BATTERY IN TOOL 1. Remove the discharged battery (1) from the tool by pressing on the battery release buttons (2) on each side of the battery and pulling the battery out of the tool handle (3) (see Fig. 2). 2. Slide the fully charged battery into the matching slots in the tool handle where the discharged battery has been removed. NOTE: Make sure the battery is fully engaged with the mounting slots in the tool handle. The battery release buttons will click into place when the battery is fully installed.! WARNING Do not immerse battery pack in water. Sudden cooling could cause hot battery to explode or leak Fig. 2 Fig. 1 11

12 FORWARD/REVERSE SWITCH The forward/reverse switch (1) is conveniently mounted above the trigger switch (2) (see Fig.3). To make the Impact wrench rotate clockwise push the forward / reverse switch to the left. To make the Impact wrench rotate counter clockwise, push the forward / reverse switch to the right. NOTES: a) Never change position of the forward/reverse switch while wrench is turning. b) The trigger switch will NOT function with the forward/reverse switch in the middle position. 1 2 Fig 3 ASSEMBLY Select correct socket Always use the correct size socket for bolts and nuts. An incorrect size socket will result in inaccurate and inconsistent fastening torque and or damage to the bolt or nut by rounding the sides. Installing or removing socket Always be sure that the tool is switched off and the battery pack is removed before installing or removing the socket. To install the socket, push it onto the anvil of the tool until it locks into place. To remove the socket, simply pull it off. See (Fig 4) Fig 4 ASSEMBLY & OPERATION VARIABLE SPEED TRIGGER SWITCH This drill is equipped with a variable speed ON/OFF trigger switch. 1. To start drill, gently squeeze the trigger switch (1) (see Fig. 5). NOTE: Drill will turn at its slowest speed when the trigger switch is moved only a small amount. The wrench will turn at its fastest speed when the trigger switch is fully depressed. 2. To stop the wrench, release the trigger switch. NOTE: Using the wrench at a slow speed for an extended period of time may cause the wrench motor or the battery pack to overheat. If the wrench or battery gets hot, stop drilling and allow it to cool for at least 15 minutes. Fig. 5 Please note. It is recommended that you use impact sockets with the impact wrench when removing very tight nuts and bolts. It is possible with normal sockets that the torque will cause the normal socket to split and could cause the impact wrench to slip and cause injury. After tightening the nut or bolt you may have to use a torque wrench to get the correct torque as recommended by your Supplier to the job you are doing. 12

13 MAINTENANCE GENERAL! WARNING Have you read POWER TOOL SAFETY, Impact wrench SAFETY, BATTERY & CHARGER SAFETY and SYMBOLS on pages 3,4,5,6 & 7 of this manual? If not, please do it now before you operate this impact wrench. Your safety depends on it! Every time you use the impact wrench you should verify the following: 1. Make sure the trigger switch is in the locked position before you fit any attachment see Fig 2 2. Before starting the job in hand make sure the left/right switch is in the correct position start wrench to see that the rotation of the wrench is going the way you want to use it Failure to adhere to these safety rules can greatly increase the chances of injury.! WARNING When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use of any other part may create a hazard or cause product damage. DO NOT use solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and may be damaged by their use. Use clean cloth to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease etc.! WARNING Do not at any time allow brake fluids, gasoline, petroleum-based products, penetrating oils, etc. to come in contact with plastic parts. They contain chemicals that can damage, weaken or destroy plastic. DO NOT abuse power tools. Abusive practices can damage the tool as well as the work piece.! WARNING DO NOT attempt to modify tools or create accessories not recommended. Any such alteration or modification is misuse and could result in a hazardous condition leading to possible serious injury. It will also void the warranty. LUBRICATION All of the bearings in these electric tools are lubricated with a sufficient amount of highgrade lubricant for the life of the unit under normal conditions. Therefore, no further lubrication is required. 13
