The on/off switch is fitted with a brake function which stops your chuck immediately when you quickly release the switch. It is also a variable speed switch that delivers HELPLINE NO

10 Original instructions higher speed and torque with increased trigger pressure. Speed is controlled by the amount of switch trigger depression. Warning: Do not operate for long periods at low speed because excess heat will be produced internally. 3. SWITCH LOCK (See Fig. C) The On/Off switch trigger can be locked in OFF position. This helps to reduce the possibility of accidental starting when not in use. To lock the switch trigger, place the forward and reverse rotation selector in the center position by pushing it on either side of the drill. Fig. C 4. REVERSIBLE (See Fig. D,E) The forward and reverse rotation selector located above the On/Off switch controls the direction of rotation. For drilling and screw driving use forward rotation marked (lever is moved to the left) (See Fig. D). Only use reverse rotation marked (lever is moved to the right) to remove screws or release a jammed drill bit (See Fig. E). Warning: Never change the direction of rotation when the chuck is rotating. Wait until it has stopped. Fig. E 5. TWO-SPEED GEAR CONTROL (See Fig. F) The drill has a two-speed gear control designed for drilling or driving at Low (mark is 1) or High (mark is 2) speed. A slide control is located on top of the drill to select either Low or High speed. When using the drill in the low speed range, the speed will decrease and the drill will have greater power and torque. When using the drill in the high speed range, the speed will increase and the drill will have less power and torque. Gear I Low speed range: for screwdriving or working with large drilling diameter Gear II High speed range: for working with small drilling diameter Warning: To prevent gear damage, always allow the chuck to come to a complete stop before changing the two-speed gear control. Fig. F Fig. D 6. CHUCK ADJUSTMENT (See Fig. G) To open the chuck jaws rotate the front section of the chuck. Insert the drill bit between the chuck jaws and rotate the front section in the opposite direction. Ensure the drill bit is in the center of the chuck jaws. Finally, firmly rotate the front chuck section in the opposite directions. Your drill bit is now clamped in the chuck. 10 HELPLINE NO

FITTING AND REMOVING SCREWDRIVER BITS (See Fig. H) To use any short screwdriver bit supplied, insert the bit into the bit holder and push the holder into the chuck as far as possible. To remove the bit, simply pull it out of the bit holder. NOTE: Always use a bit holder when fitting the short bits. bit holder Fig. J Fig. H 8.TORQUE ADJUSTMENT AND HAMMER OR DRILLING CONTROL (See Fig. I) (Screw driving force of your drill driver) The torque is adjusted by rotating the torque adjustment ring. The torque is greater when the torque adjustment ring is set on a higher setting. The torque is less when the torque adjustment ring is set on a lower setting. When drilling in masonry and concrete choose the hammer position. When drilling in wood, metal, plastic and screwdriver choose the drill position. Make the setting as follows: 1-4 for driving small screws 5-8 for driving screws into soft material 9-12 for driving screws into soft and hard material for driving screws into hard wood for driving larger screws for heavy drilling for drilling in masonry and concrete 9. DRILLING When drilling hard smooth surfaces, use a center punch to mark the desired hole location. This will prevent the drill bit from slipping off center as the hole is started. Hold the tool firmly and place the tip of the bit at the point to be drilled. Depress the switch trigger to start the tool. Move the drill bit into the work-piece, applying only enough pressure to keep the bit drilling. Do not force or apply side pressure to elongate a hole. WARNING: When drilling in metal, only use HSS drill bits in good condition. Always use a magnetic bit holder when using short screwdriver bits. When screw-driving, apply a small quantity of liquid soap or similar material to the screw threads to ease insertion. 10. USING THE SIGHT LIGHT(See Fig. K) Fig. K HELPLINE NO

12 The sight light (8) allows you to keep a clear view under less illuminated circumstances. To turn on the light simply press the on/off switch. When you release the on/off switch, the light will go out. 11. DISPOSAL OF AN EXHAUSTED BATTERY PACK To preserve natural resources, please recycle or dispose of the battery pack properly. This battery pack contains Ni-Cd batteries. Consult your local waste authority for information regarding available recycling and/or disposal options. Discharge your battery pack by operating your drill, then remove the battery pack from the drill housing and cover the battery pack connections with heavy duty adhesive tape to prevent short circuit and energy discharge. Do not attempt to open or remove any of the components. MAINTENANCE Your tool requires no additional lubrication or maintenance. There are no user serviceable parts in your tool, battery pack or charger. Never use water or chemical cleaners to clean your tool. Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Always store your tool in a dry place. Keep the motor ventilation slots clean. Hole drilling 1. When attempting to drill a large diameter hole, it is recommended to start with a smaller drill bit then to the required size. This prevents overloading the drill. 2. If the drill bit snags, switch off the drill immediately to prevent permanent damage. Try the reverse drive to remove the bit. 3. Keep the drill in line with the hole. Ideally, If the angle is changed during drilling it could cause the bit to break. 4. Frequently remove the drill bit from the hole when drilling deep holes to allow the dust to be ejected from the hole. Screw driving 1. When driving larger and/or longer screws into hard material, it is advisable to drill a pilot hole first, slightly longer and just smaller than the shank diameter of the screw to be fitted. The pilot hole will act as a guide for the screw and will also make tightening of the screw less difficult. When screws are positioned close to Original instructions an edge of the material, a pilot hole will also help to prevent splitting of the wood. 2. Use only screwdriver bits that fit properly in the head of the screw. 3. When driving screws, always keep enough pressure on the drill to prevent wearing of the screw head. It will be difficult to drive or remove a screw if the screw head is worn. TROUBLESHOOTING AND FAQ Should you encounter any problems when using your cordless drill, check the following list. 1. Trigger will not depress The trigger will not depress if the Forward/ Reverse rotation control is in the locked position. Move it to the forward or reverse position. 2. Trigger depresses but drill will not work The cordless drill/driver needs sufficient charge in the battery pack to work. The battery charge will deplete if not used for a long period of time. Try recharging the battery pack. 3. Battery pack leaks A small amount of leakage may occur under extreme temperatures or after heavy use. Immediately wash any leakage from hands, skin or clothes with soap and water. 4. Battery will not charge and light on charger will not show. If the battery will not charge, check whether the battery is properly inserted into the charging base, and make sure the indicator light is on. 5. The drill body gets hot after extensive use Under normal load condition, the body and the battery pack will heat up as the energy absorbed in the drilling operation produces heat. This is quite normal. Simply allow the drill to cool down for a few minutes. 6. The battery pack gets warm during use The power-draw from the battery generates heat. This is increased as the energy draw increases. The battery pack will not be damaged and the generated heat is normal. Allow the drill to cool down prior to continuing work. 7. The battery pack gets warm when charging This is normal. It is a result from the stepping down of the chemical reactions inside the 12 HELPLINE NO
