4 INTRODUCTION Congratulations on purchasing an Ozito Cordless Blower. We aim to provide quality tools at an affordable price. We hope you will enjoy using this tool for many years. Your Ozito Cordless Blower OZCBL18VA has been designed for blowing debris, leaves and grass clippings from courtyards, driveways, patios, car parks, footpaths etc. It is intended for DIY use only. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS Warning! A battery operated tool with individual batteries or a separate battery pack must be recharged only with the specific charging unit for the battery. A charging unit that may be suitable for one type of battery may create a risk of fire when used with another battery type. Avoid accidental starting. When the tool is not in use keep it away from other metal objects. Read the whole manual carefully and make sure you know how to switch the tool OFF, in an emergency, before operating the tool. Save these instructions and other documents supplied with this machine for future reference. 4

5 GENERAL! Warning! Read all instructions. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire and/or serious injury. The term Power Tool in all of the warnings listed below refers to your mains operated (corded) power tool or battery operated (cordless) power tool. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 1) WORK AREA a) Keep work area clean and well lit. Cluttered and dark areas invite accidents. b) Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite the dust or fumes. c) Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose control. 2) ELECTRICAL SAFETY a) Power tool plugs must match the outlet. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adapter plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce risk of electric shock. b) Avoid body contact with earthed or grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed or grounded. c) Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. d) Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. e) When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use. Use of a cord suitable for outdoor use reduces the risk of electric shock. 3) PERSONAL SAFETY a) Stay alert, watch what you are doing and use common sense when operating a power tool. Do not use a power tool while you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. A moment of inattention while operating power tools may result in serious personal injury. b) Use safety equipment. Always wear eye protection. Safety equipment such as dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, or hearing protection used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injuries. c) Avoid accidental starting. Ensure the switch is in the off position before plugging in. Carrying power tools with your finger on the switch or plugging in power tools that have the switch on invites accidents. d) Remove any adjusting key or wrench before turning the power tool on. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury. 5

6 GENERAL (cont.) 6 e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations. f) Dress properly. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. Keep your hair, clothing and gloves away from moving parts. Loose clothes, jewellery or long hair can be caught in moving parts. g) If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards. 4) POWER TOOL USE AND CARE a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer at the rate for which it was designed. b) Do not use the power tool if the switch does not turn it on and off. Any power tool that can not be controlled with the switch is dangerous and must be repaired. c) Disconnect the plug from the power source before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools. Such preventive safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. d) Store idle power tools, unplugged & out of the reach of children and do not allow persons unfamiliar with the power tool or these instructions to operate the power tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. e) Maintain power tools. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts and any other condition that may affect the power tools operation. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use. Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools. f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. g) Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc., in accordance with these instructions and in the manner intended for the particular type of power tool, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from intended could result in a hazardous situation. h) This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. i) Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. 5) SERVICE a) Have your power tool serviced by a qualified repair person using only identical replacement parts. This will ensure that the safety of the power tool is maintained. b) If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard.

7 BATTERY CHARGING SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS THIS MANUAL CONTAINS IMPORTANT SAFETY AND OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS FOR YOUR CHARGER & BATTERY. Before using the charging adaptor, thoroughly read all instructions within this manual. Danger! If the tool housing is cracked or damaged, do not attempt to charge the battery. There is a danger of electric shock or electrocution. Warning! Do not allow any liquid to get inside the charger. Electric shock may result. To facilitate cooling of the battery pack after use, avoid placing the charger or battery pack in a warm environment such as in a metal shed, or an uninsulated trailer. This charger is not intended for any uses other than charging rechargeable batteries. Any other use may result in risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution. Do not place any objects on top of the unit whilst it's being charged, doing so may result in excessive internal heat. Place the tool away from other heat sources when recharging the battery. To reduce risk of damage to the electric plug and cord, pull by the plug rather than the cord when disconnecting the charge from the power supply. Make sure cord is located so that it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress. An extension cord should not be used unless absolutely necessary. Use of an improper extension cord could result in the risk of fire, electric shock or electrocution. Do not operate charger if it has received a sharp blow, been dropped or otherwise damaged in any way. Do not disassemble charger, if service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembling may result in a risk of electric shock, electrocution or fire. New chargers can be obtained through Ozito. To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug charging adaptor from the socket outlet before attempting any cleaning. Never attempt to connect 2 separate chargers together. DO NOT store or use the tool in locations where the temperature may reach or exceed 40ºC (such as outside sheds or metal buildings in summer). The charger is designed to operate on standard household electrical power (240 volts). Do not attempt to use it on any other voltage. The longest life and best performance can be obtained if the tool is charged when the air temperature is between 18-24ºC. Do not charge the tool in an air temperature below 10º C or above 40º C. This is important and will prevent damage. Do not incinerate batteries even if it is seriously damaged or completely worn out. Batteries can explode in a fire. Never attempt to open batteries for any reason. If the plastic housing breaks or cracks, immediately discontinue use and do not recharge. 7

8 CHARGING YOUR BATTERIES The batteries have been shipped in a low charge condition to prevent possible problems, therefore you should charge them prior to use. Plug the adaptor in an appropriate AC power outlet (power-point) and connect the adaptor lead to the charging stand. The GREEN light on the charging stand indicates that the AC power is being supplied. Insert the battery into the charging stand and ensure the battery is fully seated. The battery fits one way only. The RED light indicates that the battery is currently being charged. Neither the GREEN nor RED light will go out once the battery is fully charged. To stop charging, remove the battery from the charging stand and switch off at the mains. The battery will take 3-5 hours to charge. This may vary up to 7 hours due to the level of charge remaining in the battery and also the ambient temperature. It is safe to leave the battery on charge overnight. Initial Charge For the first four charges, each charge should be for 10 hours. After the initial four charges, resume charging as earlier stated. Important Charging Notes The charger and battery pack may become warm to touch while charging. This is a normal condition, and does not indicate a problem. Use the charger at normal room temperatures whenever possible. To prevent overheating, do not cover the charger and do not charge the battery pack in direct sunlight or near heat sources. To increase the batteries life it is recommended to discharge it completely before recharging. If the battery pack does not charge properly:- 1. Check current at receptacle by plugging in a lamp or other appliance. 2. Check to see if receptacle is connected to a light switch which turns power off when you turn out the light. 3. Move the charger and battery pack to a location where the surrounding air temperature is approximately C. 8

9 ASSEMBLY Assembling the Direction Nozzle Align the wide end of the nozzle to the opening of the blower housing. The small hole on the connecting side of the nozzle should be matched up with the notch on the blower housing. Join the two by pushing them together. To Remove the Battery Pack Simultaneously depress the release buttons on either side of the battery pack and pull the battery pack away from the blower housing. To Install the Battery Pack Align the tongue of the battery pack to the matching cavity in the blower housing. Push the battery pack into the housing until both battery pack release buttons have locked into the housing of the blower. Do not force the battery pack into the housing of the blower. The battery pack fits one way only. Ensure the battery pack is secured properly to the housing prior to using the blower. OPERATION On/Off Switch Holding the operator handle with your preferred hand, place your fingers over the trigger. To turn on the blower, squeeze the trigger. To turn off the blower release the trigger. With continuous use the battery and operating handle may become warm to touch. This is normal and doesn't indicate a problem. Note: Keep the air vents of the blower free from leaves and debris. DO NOT BLOCK AIR INTAKE PORT. Blocking the air intake port during operation will decrease the performance of the tool and may lead to the product overheating and failing. THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. KEEP CLOTHING CLEAR OF AIR INTAKE PORT. 9

10 MAINTENANCE After use brush or blow dust and debris out of the air vents using compressed air or a vacuum cleaner. If the housing of the blower requires cleaning do not use solvents but a moist soft cloth only. Never immerse the tool into liquid. Store the machine in a dry place. Should the tool not be used for long periods of time, recharge the batteries every two months. Note: Ozito Industries will not be responsible for any damage or injuries caused by the repair of the tool by an unauthorised person, or mishandling or mistreatment of the tool.
