4 Solar As An Economic Engine Nearly 260,000 Americans work in solar - more than double the number in at more than 9,000 companies in every U.S. state. The cost to install solar has dropped by more than 70% since 2010, leading the industry to expand into new markets and deploy thousands of systems nationwide. 4

5 The Solar Fight Today, a variety of disruptive technologies are emerging that may compete with utility-provided services. Such technologies include solar photovoltaics (PV), battery storage, fuel cells, geothermal energy systems, wind, micro turbines, and electric vehicle (EV) enhanced storage.
