Box 369 Lyons, New York Phone Richard Molisani, Jr. DIRECTOR To The Wayne County Board Of Supervisors This is the 2015 Annual Report for the Consumer Affairs Department. 609 inspections were conducted during the calendar year. These inspections included device inspection, petroleum sample collection, price verification, commodity checks and addressing consumer complaints. Five consumer complaints were resolved in a timely matter. 111 non-commercial scales were tested at our schools, doctor offices, nursing homes, and head start programs. 20 price verification inspections were conducted which resulted in $1,550 dollars in penalties. Wayne County volunteered to participate in Governor Cuomo s crack down on credit card skimming devices. 264 gasoline and diesel dispensers were checked to ensure that the credit card readers were not comprimised. I was an instructor for a training session at the 2015 Weights & Measures Technical Training School. I submitted vouchers on behalf of Wayne County to New York State totaling $3, for the collection of 178 petroleum samples. The county collected $2,100 in fines, bringing the total revenue to $5, The County decided to sell the weight truck and weights this year due to the lack of use and the perspective costs of future repairs. The sale of the truck and weights generated $62, $33,663 from that sale was added to the 2015 Consumer Affairs budget to purchase a new truck to replace the 2007 Ford Ranger and the 2002 Dodge Ram Van. A trailer was also purchased to use when performing tasks within the department. The original 2015 budget was $88,754 and with the edition of $33,663 it brought the total budget amount to $122,417. Items to note from this report on page 4 (Devices) in the devices not tested column are 1 vehicle scale, 1 hopper scale and 1 rack meter. The vehicle and hopper scales are at the same location that was not opened this year. The rack meter is a biodiesel plant that is in the middle of contract negotiations and the plant is not operating at this time. Overall it was a successful year. The department had many accomplishments that would not have been possible without the support and assistance from the Board of Supervisors and the Administrator. Respectfully Submitted Richard A.
