As observed None None None Whether meets the requirements (Yes/No) Salient Observations: Engine Performance: i) The backup torque of engine is %, under natural ambient condition. ii) The maximum power was observed as 10.6 & 10.4 kw under natural ambient & high ambient conditions respectively. iii) The specific fuel consumption corresponding to maximum power was recorded as 299 g/kwh against the declared value of 327 g/kwh. iii) The specific fuel consumption corresponding to rated power was recorded as 283 g/kwh against the declared value of 328 g/kwh Rotary shaft performance: i) The maximum rotary shaft power was measured as 9.3 kw. ii) The maximum rotary shaft torque was observed as Nm. 4 Mechanical Vibration: The amplitude of mechanical vibration on most of controls / measuring points of the power tiller exceeded the limit of 100 micron. The mechanical vibration is directly concerned with Operator s Health, Safety and Comfort; apart from the useful life of the machine s components. In view of the above, this deserves to be given top priority for corrective action Noise measurement: Max. Noise at operator s ear level and by stander s position was observed as 94 db(a) and 76 db(a). The noise observed at operator's ear level is more than the limit specified by IS:12239 (Part3) The Sound Pressure Level is directly influencing the Operator s Health, Safety and Comfort; and therefore warrants the corrective action Rotavator blades: i) The dimensions of the straight blade at notation 'B' only does not conform, to IS: (Reaffirmed 2012), whereas the dimensions of hatchet blades are conforming to its relevant code. ii) The hardness at shank and edge portions of straight and hatchet blades do not meet, the requirement of IS: (reaffirmed 2012). This should be looked into for corrective action Haulage test Matching Trailer was not supplied by the applicant therefore the trailer available with this Institute had to be used for Haulage test. It is therefore recommended to either provide the trailer as per IS: , or provide the address of trailer manufacturer which can provide the trailer as per IS: The power tiller was recommended for haulage test with a trailer of gross mass of 1.5 tonne Average distance traveled per litre was observed km Specific fuel consumption was observed as against the declared value of 65 to 70 cc/km/ton. 5 Provision of spark arresting device may be considered for incorporation in the exhaust system The labeling plate provided on the machine does not give full information. It is therefore recommended that, a labeling plate with following information may be provided on the machine I. Chassis No. II. Max. Power (kw) III. Specific fuel consumption (g/kwh) It is recommended that the Power Tiller should bear the identification number viz. engine No., Chassis No. including month and year of manufacture embossed or etched or punched on it. Not only this, the applicant is advised to indicate/intimate the testing agency regarding the place where the numbers is embossed or etched or punched including the code for the year and month of production in respect of that particular model It is recommended that the tyre should have the Marking as per clause 8 of IS: (Reaffirmed 2001) It is recommended that only those bulbs should provided on head lamp of Power Tiller which are duly tested as per AIS 034. Further, it is also recommended to fit only those Head Lamp Assembly on the Power Tiller which are duly tested in accordance with AIS As per IS: (Part 3) 1988 (Reaffirmed 1995), maximum safe speed with trailer is required to be specified by the manufacturer. Necessary action may be taken in this regard As per IS: (Part 3) 1988 (Reaffirmed 1995), balancing mass to be added to achieve correct weight balance of the power tiller with various attachments should be recommended by the manufacturer in the operator manual. This may be examined for compliance Make of bulb is Illegible. The Indian make of bulb is essential to be recommended The handle grip does not meet the requirement of IS: (Reaffirmed 2012). 6 15.15 Adequacy of literature supplied with the machine: The following literature was supplied with the test sample for reference during the test : Operation manual, service manual and parts catalogue of power tiller in English and Hindi. However, it is recommended that the Operator Manual of engine may be brought out in accordance with IS: (Reaffirmed 2004)with inclusion of, inter alia, the following: - - Fuel saving tips. - Safe operating speed with trailer. 16.
