The same one found in the Can-Am Commander, Outlander and Renegade but optimized for pure-sport performance by applying state-of-the-art high-flow dynamics. When an engine breathes easier it can produce more horsepower. So we optimized air intake, combustion and exhaust flow to improve engine efficiency. The result is the 101-hp Rotax 1000R. 11 PRECISION-ENGINEERED HANDLING We developed numerous features to make the Maverick more precise and agile, inspiring confidence during every moment of every ride. 56% 44% MID-ENGINE LAYOUT AND WEIGHT DISTRIBUTION Other pure-sport side-by-side vehicles feature engines toward the rear, increasing vehicle inertia, leading to a tendency to oversteer. Our Can-Am Maverick engine is toward the center between the two seats. Centralizing weight leads to more agile steering and easier cornering. Plus, an ideal weight distribution for improved traction and handling. TORSIONAL TRAILING A-ARMS REAR SUSPENSION (TTA) This compact version of a five-link suspension, unique to the Maverick, provides no bump steer and low scrub, delivering optimized bump absorption and tire-to-ground contact. It also has less unsprung weight than other sport side-by-side vehicles and provides up to 14 in. (35.6 cm) of travel. HIGH FRAME RIGIDITY The torsional rigidity of the Can-Am Maverick is almost two times higher than that of the Polaris RZR XP 900. We made it that way because a rigid frame doesn t interfere with suspension performance, allowing for more precise calibration and better feedback to the driver. VISCO-LOK AUTO-LOCKING FRONT DIFFERENTIAL Visco-Lok is the industry s only progressive auto-locking 4x4 front differential that engages at any speed. It constantly monitors front wheel speed and, if it detects one wheel spinning faster than the others, it progressively sends more power to the wheel with better traction. All without the driver having to push buttons. TRI-MODE DYNAMIC POWER STEERING (DPS) The electronically controlled power steering unit provides the driver with three different levels of assistance when steering. 23 COMMANDER All we had to do to change the side-by-side industry was build one like a Can-Am. These are the side-by-side vehicles that created a new industry standard because they were built with Can-Am DNA. Every Commander features either the 85-hp Rotax 1000 or the 71-hp Rotax 800R engine. And most 2014 models include Tri-Mode Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) and a quicker engaging auto-locking front differential with Visco-Lok QE TORSIONAL TRAILING ARM INDEPENDENT REAR SUSPENSION (TTI) TTI is the only independent rear suspension that eliminates scrub and camber changes. Because the pivot points are ahead of the wheels, the rear wheels pivot up and down, which ensures that the vehicle moves only in the direction you point it.
