5 Z STYLE Z STYLE In the Z125 PRO, riders will find both the looks and quality of a much larger bike. Styling emulates the aggressive design of Kawasaki s other Z models, creating an eye-catching package that appears ready to launch into action even when sitting still. 5

6 Z STYLE Bodywork 1 Adding to the aggressive Streetfighter design, the slim fuel tank is flared at the top edges and slants forward. (Photos 2) 2 Compact headlamp cowl is one of the key styling elements of the aggressive Z design. (Photo 1) Sporty, single headlamp design contributes to the bikes slim image. The multi-reflector headlamp throws a clear beam of light, facilitating night-time visibility. Compact engine shrouds contribute to the bike s hourglass figure as well as its overall aggressive Streetfighter design. The shrouds also offer a degree of mud protection. Ignition switch is located at the front of the tank, adding to the bikes sporty, image and a tidy cockpit design. Sharp, streetfighterstyle under-cowl with an aggressive chiselled design adds to the sporty image. (Photos 3) 3 6

7 Z STYLE Sporty front fender has integrated fork guards that protect the fork tubes from mud and other debris. Front and rear turn signals feature a sharp design and clear, transparent lenses, contributing to the bikes sporty image. Instrumentation 6 Stepped seat design contributes to the sporty looks, while accommodating both a rider and passenger. (Photo 4) 4 Slim tail section is complemented by a sharp LED taillight. Like the Z800, the LED bulbs form a Z pattern. (Photo 5) Rear inner fender adds to the streetfighter design, and helps to keep the under-tail and rear suspension clean. Machined footpegs for the rider and passenger further contribute to the sporty image while offering direct feedback to the rider. Stylish front sprocket cover adds to the bikes sharp looks. 5 Instrument console combines a race analogue-style tachometer with a multi-function LCD screen. A compact package adds to both manoeuvrability and rider-friendly ergonomics, making it a highly accommodating bike for both new and experienced riders. 8

9 STREETFIGHTER PERFORMANCE Fuel-injected 125cc 4-stroke Single Designed to have a sporty character, the quick-revving engine pulls smoothly right to its redline. Superior passing performance is handy when riding in city traffic. Simple and reliable air-cooled, SOHC, 2-valve Single revs smoothly to the high-rpm range, with strong acceleration in the everyday range. Bore and stroke measure 56.0 x 50.6 mm, for a displacement of 125cc. Cam profiles and intake port design contribute to the smooth, quick-revving engine character as well as stable idling. Fuel injection ensures stable fuel delivery regardless of outside air temperature or atmospheric pressure. It also ensures excellent starting characteristics, whether the engine is hot or cold. 2.6 L air cleaner is positioned above and forward of the cylinder head minimising intake noise. 24 mm throttle body contributes to the quick-revving character. Long-nose type injector contributes to the powerful sporty feeling. 9

10 STREETFIGHTER PERFORMANCE Stainless steel exhaust pipe offers excellent durability. The under-engine muffler design contributes to a compact package as well as mass centralisation that results in light handling and increased manoeuvrability. (Photo 8) Honeycomb catalyser and O 2 sensor ensure that emissions meet regulations. AC generator offers the same precise fuel-injection control as largerdisplacement bikes. Smart regulator with built-in microprocessor reviews the battery charging level and engine rpm, cutting the generating current when the battery is fully charged or during acceleration to reduce power loss. The system also contributes to improved fuel efficiency. Easy starting 8 4-speed with manual clutch Manual clutch offers the rider additional control. Gear pattern is 1-N (Photo 9) Link-type shift lever, similar to that found on largerdisplacement models, reduces the input load required to shift gears. KACR (Kawasaki Automatic Compression Release) (using the exhaust valve) contributes to easy starting. One-way clutch in the starter motor uses a 6-roller design for high durability. 10

11 STREETFIGHTER PERFORMANCE Compact chassis The compact chassis, along with sporty suspension and tires, enables riders to enjoy the light, nimble handling one would expect from a Streetfighter model. High-tensile steel backbone frame enables the handling appropriate for a streetfighter model. Frame pipe diameter ensures sufficient strength to enable tandem riding mm backbone pipe is supported by 25.4 mm lateral pipes; rear frame pipes are 22.2 mm. Highly rigid box-section swingarm offers the strength to enable tandem riding. 11

12 STREETFIGHTER PERFORMANCE Inverted fork Offset laydown single shock 30 mm inverted front fork offers excellent rigidity while keeping unsprung weight low for sporty riding potential. It features a lightweight aluminum upper triple clamp and has a long 100 mm stroke. Settings contribute to the Z125 s nimble handling. The inverted fork also contributes to sporty looks. (Photo 11) Offset laydown rear suspension enables a compact package while contributing to sporty handling. The linkage ratios and shock s mounting angle were optimised for this model to ensure superb shock action and excellent ride comfort. (Photo 12) Rear shock is 4-way preload adjustable, allowing riders to set the preload for their weight, and to adjust for tandem riding. 12

13 STREETFIGHTER PERFORMANCE 12 cast wheels & road tires Cast wheels with sport road tires offering good grip in dry and wet conditions not only give the Z125 the look of larger-displacement Supernaked models, the combination contributes to a balance of light, sporty handling and reassuring stability. 12 cast aluminum wheels reduce unsprung weight, and are fitted with onroad tubeless tires for great sporty street performance. (Photo 13) 13 Front & rear disc brakes The Z125 features disc brakes, ensuring sure stopping power to match its sporty handling. 200 mm front disc brake is slowed by a single-piston caliper. (Photo 14) 14 Tire sizes were selected to deliver sporty, nimble handling. Sizes are as follows: F: 100/ J R: 120/ L Rear rim, measuring 110 mm, is wide enough to accommodate a 130 mm rear tire. 14 STREETFIGHTER PERFORMANCE Easy & convenient With an overall length of only 1,700 mm and a curb mass of just 101 kg, the Z125 is a compact package. Large-volume 7.4 litre fuel tank and superb fuel efficiency enable a long touring range. Locking fuel tank cap prevents tampering. Low seat height of only 780 mm makes it easy for riders to reach the ground with their feet a very important feature for newer riders. The Z125 s light weight and compact chassis make it easy to handle, whether manoeuvring in tight quarters or walking beside the bike. Tight turning radius of 2.1 m makes it easy to navigate urban traffic. Convenient helmet lock provided under the seat. 14
