4 The Backstory In 2009, LumaStream founder Eric Higgs was commissioned to improve the aesthetics of the exterior of Downtown Tampa's "Element" apartment building. Eric designed and installed a sculpture known as "Conversations." This brightly -illumined, vibrant and notable landmark shines prominently amongst Tampa's skyline. Because this design included such an important light feature, Eric's environmentalist roots drove him to seek the most maintanable and sustainable solution. The original lighting specifications had a 20,000 watt requirement....well beyond any market alternatives Higgs searched tirelessly for an energy-efficient solution that would stay within the parameters of the project's budget without sacrificing the quality of light. The result was a system that included specifically designed LED fixtures that reduced daily wattage from over 20,000 watts to just 890 watts. The light quality and energy efficiency were astonishing, well beyond any market alternatives. 21 PDQ The communication from LumaStream and their ability to adapt our architectural fixture package as promised was a refreshing surprise. Tim Vining, President of Unit Development for PDQ LumaStream provided several LED fixtures with driverless design and advanced heat sink engineering to reduce ambient temperature. Power and control are carried on the same low-voltage wire to the LED fixtures, giving PDQ new lighting control capabilities. 21

37 Q: Which Color Temperature Is Right for My Space? Mid-Day Morning Evening 4000K 3500K 3000K 2700K Since the dawn of humanity, we have been enamored with the mystery and power of light. Our ancestors revered the sun as a god and attributed success in farming, health, and prosperity to the light bestowed upon them. Different colors affect the way we perceive the environment around us. The appearance of our skin, walls, and even our food can be changed by adjusting the color temperature of artificial light.
