4 1 Overview of connection blocks type AX, ASX, AVX and APX A connection block represents the connecting link between the hydraulic power pack and the hydraulic control. The connection blocks described here are suitable for combining with compact hydraulic power packs. A valve bank can be tted directly to connection block type AX, the end result of which is a compact hydraulic control unit. A pressure-limiting valve with unit approval is integrated as standard in type AX, and can be supplemented with a pressure or return line lter, or an idle circulation valve. Additionally, various valve banks can be attached directly. Connection block type AX can be combined, for example, with compact hydraulic power packs type KA, HK and MPN. To type AX 3: Accumulator protection only against overpressure from the pump side! Not permitted if, on the consumer side, pressures arise due to external in uences as a result of function or in the event of malfunction and these pressures can exceed the pressure setting! The installed check valve is located on the P outlet and prevents a pressure drop once the pump has switched off. The check valve prevents a pressure drop which is possible in the following cases:- In the pressure channel of the connected directional valve bank as a result of leakage at the pump.- Following a short response (for example, due to pump overrun following the shutdown signal), until the closing process of the valve is complete again. 31 5 Assembly, operation and maintenance recommendations 5.1 Intended application This valve is intended exclusively for hydraulic applications ( uid engineering). The valve meets high technical safety standards and regulations for uid and electrical engineering. The user must observe the safety measures and warnings in this documentation. Essential requirements for the product to function correctly and safely: All information in this documentation must be observed. This applies in particular to all safety measures and warnings. The product must only be assembled and put into operation by quali ed personnel. The product must only be operated within the speci ed technical parameters. The technical parameters are described in detail in this documentation. The operating and maintenance manual of the speci c complete system must also always be observed. If the product can no longer be operated safely: Remove the product from operation and mark it accordingly. It is then not permitted to continue using or operating the product. 5.2 Assembly information The hydraulic system must only be installed in the complete system with standard connection components that comply with market requirements (screw ttings, hoses, pipes, etc.). The hydraulic system must be shut down correctly prior to dismounting; this applies in particular to hydraulic systems with hydraulic accumulators. 32 5.3 Operating instructions Product configuration and setting the pressure and ow rate The statements and technical parameters in this documentation must be strictly observed. The instructions for the complete technical system must also always be followed. Note Read the documentation carefully before usage. The documentation must be accessible to the operating and maintenance staff at all times. Keep documentation up to date after every addition or update. Purity and ltering of the hydraulic uid Fine contamination can significantly impair the function of a hydraulic power pack. Contamination can cause irreparable damage. Examples of ne contamination include: Metal chips Rubber particles from hoses and seals Dirt due to assembly and maintenance Mechanical debris Chemical ageing of the hydraulic uid Note Fresh hydraulic uid from the drum does not always have the highest degree of purity. Under some circumstances the fresh hydraulic uid must be ltered before use. Pay attention to the cleanliness level of the hydraulic uid in order to maintain faultless operation. (Also see cleanliness level in Chapter 3, "Parameters".) 5.4 Maintenance information This product is largely maintenance-free. Replace the air lter and in particular the oil lter regularly. Conduct a visual inspection at regular intervals, but at least once per year, to check if the hydraulic connections are damaged. If external leakages are found, shut down and repair the system. 33 6 Other information Further contamination control option In addition to the options for contamination control via the pressure switches for return line lters (see Table 3, Chapter 2.1, "Connection blocks with and without return line lter or pressure lter") all connection blocks with return line lters have two ports R1 and R2, through which a commercially available differential pressure indicator or switch can be connected externally, permitting continuous contamination monitoring. For the majority of well-known lter manufacturers, differential pressure switches are a part of their delivery range. The ow resistance of the lter when new will be in the range of approx. 0.2 to 0.3 bar. The bypass check valve opens at a differential pressure of approx. 2.5 bar. Critical contamination should therefore be indicated at Sp, 2 bar at the latest.
