3 SPECIFICATIONS Specifications Intended Use: The Turfco WIDESPIN Spinner Attachment is an optional attachment for the Construction-Renovation Unit. The spinner attachment is designed to broadcast the flow of material being discharged from the hopper. The spinner attachment is only intended to be used for the handling of properly prepared sand or organic top dressing material. The spinner attachment is intended to be used only with the Construction-Renovation Unit. Replacement parts from other sources may damage the WideSpin Spinner Attachment, the Construction- Renovation Unit and/or create a safety hazard. Always refer repairs to properly trained service personnel. DO NOT ALTER the WideSpin Spinner Attachment in any manner. Unauthorized alterations may affect its operation, performance, and may result in injury or death to the operator as well as other individuals in the work area. 3

4 SAFETY Recognizing Safety Warnings Used In Manual LOOK FOR THE SAFETY HAZARD SYMBOL The symbol is used to alert the operator of safety hazards. It is used in conjunction with the words DANGER,, and CAUTION. DANGER General Safety Practices Safety on the job should always be a top priority. Training and experience are important factors in the safe operation of equipment. Please consider the following information and realize that safe operation is a matter of using common sense as it relates to the machine, its maintenance, the operator, the training, and the operating conditions. These are general safety instructions that apply to most turf maintenance equipment. This list includes many general safety instructions as they relate to turf equipment. This list does not encompass all hazards. Common sense must always be used to determine the safest way to operate a machine under specific conditions. TRAINING: Always read the manual before operating a machine for the first time. Always read the warning decals before operating a machine for the first time. Always check the location and use of each control before operating a machine for the first time. Practice operating the machine in a safe area with no obstructions until becoming familiar with the controls. If you have questions, ask your supervisor or call the factory. CLOTHING: Clothes should be snug fit. Loose fitting clothing is hazardous because it may get caught in the mechanism during service or operation. Remove jewelry before operation. Jewelry may get caught in the mechanism. Wear shoes that will protect your feet. Sneakers do not protect and do not provide the protection of leather shoes or boots. Steel toed safety shoes should be considered for many situations. Hard Hat: The use of a hard hat should be considered when using equipment on a golf course. The danger of CAUTION DANGER identifies immediate hazards which will result in serious injury or death. identifies potential hazards which could result in serious injury or death. CAUTION identifies hazardous situations which may result in minor injury and/or could result in damage or destruction of equipment. being hit by a golf ball should be a major concern as well as protection while operating under trees. Eye Protection: Safety glasses and/or face shields should be considered when operating, as well as working in close proximity to high speed rotary equipment. Watch for rotary mowers, edgers, brush and string trimmers. Rotary mowers can throw debris at speeds up to 320 Km/h (200 mph). Hearing: If the noise level of the equipment is too loud, consider the use of ear protection. Do not use stereo headsets during operation. This is a distraction that may lead to an accident. Headsets also make it difficult to hear other people and equipment while operating the machine. Respirators: When operating in dusty, windy conditions, wear a respirator. This is also an important consideration if operating equipment while spraying chemicals and fertilizers. Gloves: Use gloves when handling sharp or hazardous objects. THE OPERATOR: The operator should never use a machine while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The operator should be aware of the hazards of working in the sun and should take proper precautions to avoid heat stress and dehydration. Use sun screen products when necessary. The operator should never attempt to ride a machine that is not designed for that propose. Do not allow others to ride a machine that is not designed for passengers. If designed to carry passengers, do not allow more passengers to ride a machine than the machine was designed to carry. Care should always be taken when mounting and dismounting a riding machine. Prevent injuries and falls by making sure the operator does not slip. Unless it is an emergency, do not jump off a machine. Injury may result when an operator s foot slips trying to jump from a machine. Do not operate any equipment at unsafe speeds. Speeds should be reduced when turning or operating

5 on slopes. The operator must use common sense to determine a safe speed based on the equipment, the load, the slope, the surface, and other conditions that may affect safe operation. The operator must be aware of the conditions around the area. Be aware of other people and machines. Beware of slippery conditions. Wet turf can be encountered on slopes, when turning or stopping, or at higher speeds. Keep hands and feet away from cutting devices and drive components. Shut off the engine and remove the key or ignition wire when servicing cutting devices or drive components. If required to lift, an operator should ask for help if the object is too heavy. The operator should lift with his or her legs instead of the back. Care should be taken to avoid twisting the back while lifting a heavy load. Never allow children to operate the machine. THE MACHINE: Tow vehicles must have adequate tow hitches and brakes to control any towed machine. Check the weight and capacity of the machine that will be towed by that vehicle. Trucks used to carry equipment must have adequate load capacity and brakes. Check the weight and capacity of the machine that will be towed by that vehicle. Do not overload machinery. The components are designed for certain weights and capacities. Overloading the machine will cause unsafe conditions. Make sure the brakes are operating properly. Check to assure that all controls are in good operating condition. Inspect to insure that all guards are in place. Do not operate a machine without all guards in place. Always check the machine to make sure it is in good working order. Do not place hands or feet near moving or rotating parts. Check the tire pressure. Check the condition of the hydraulic hoses. Leaks and worn hoses should be fixed or replaced before the machine is put into service. Do not use your fingers or hands to check for hydraulic leaks. High pressure leaks can puncture the skin and force oil into the body. This can cause severe injury or death. Shut off the engine before servicing the machine. It is best to check machines on a level area. Machines on a slope may roll when the engine is off. Do not modify the machine in any manner. Refer unfamiliar repairs and adjustments to mechanics that have been trained to do them properly. Replace decals that are damaged or unreadable. THE TOW VEHICLE ENGINE: Prevent accidental starting by removing the spark plug wire when servicing the engine or the equipment. Disconnect the negative wire from the battery terminal if SAFETY the engine is equipped with an electric starting system. Do not strike the flywheel with a hammer or any hard object. This may cause the flywheel to shatter in operation. Do not run the engine in an enclosed area. The exhaust gases contain carbon monoxide, an odorless and deadly poison. The engine exhaust from this product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm. Do not store, spill, or use fuel near an open flame, nor near an appliance like a stove, furnace, or water heater that uses a pilot light or can create a spark. Do not refuel indoors or in an unventilated area. Check the fuel level. Do not over fill. Do not add fuel while the machine is hot because spilled fuel may cause a fire. Allow the engine to cool before refueling. Do not transport the machine with fuel in the tank. Do not remove the fuel tank cap or fill the fuel tank while the engine is hot or running. Do not operate the engine if fuel is spilled, when the smell of fuel or gasoline is present, or when other explosive conditions exist. Move the equipment away from the spill and avoid any ignition until the fuel has evaporated. Do not choke the carburetor to stop the engine. Whenever possible, gradually reduce the engine speed before stopping. Do not tamper with the governor springs, links or other parts to increase the engine speed. Run the engine at the speed set by the equipment manufacturer. Do not check for a spark with the spark plug removed. Use an approved tester. Use the correct tools to service the machine. Do not crank the engine with the spark plug removed. If the engine is flooded, place the throttle in fast and crank until the engine starts. Avoid damage to electric starter by cranking intermittently until engine starts. Do not operate the machine without a muffler. Inspect the muffler periodically and replace it if it is leaking or worn. Replace it with correct muffler. Do not touch a hot muffler, cylinder, or cooling fin. Do not operate the engine with an accumulation of grass, leaves, or other combustible material in the muffler area. Keep the cylinder cooing fins and the governor parts free of dirt, grass, and other debris. Do not use the engine on any forest covered, brush covered, or grass covered unimproved land unless a spark arrester is installed in the muffler. In the State of California, a spark arrester is required by law. Other states may have similar laws. Federal laws apply on federal lands. Do not start the engine with the air cleaner or the air cleaner cover removed. Use fresh fuel. Stale fuel can gum the carburetor and can cause leakage. Check the fuel lines and fittings frequently for cracks and leaks. 5

6 Installation SAFETY FIRST!! Work Safely and Follow All Safety Warnings In This Manual and the Unit Operators Manual. Wear the Appropriate Personal Safety Gear. Use Caution When Working Near Moving Parts and Be Aware Of High Hydraulic Operating Pressures and Temperatures. TRACTOR REQUIREMENTS The tractor must be properly equipped to power and tow the Unit and the WideSpin Spinner Attachment. The tractor must meet the following specifications: 29.4 kw (40 horsepower) engine. 12 volt DC, 15 amp, negative (-) ground power source. Clevis style hitch with 1 (25.4 mm) pin or optional pintle hitch. The Construction-Renovation Unit should set level when it is hitched to the tractor. Equipped to tow a minimum of 6,100 Kg. (13,450 Pounds). Equipped to handle 1,161 Kg. (2560 Pounds) tongue weight. Adequate Brakes to control and stop a towed minimum load of 6,100 Kg. (13,450 Pounds) Open Center Hydraulics That Can Provide 19 MPA at 30.3 Liters Per Minute (2750 PSI at 9 GPM). When the WideSpin Spinner Attachment is attached to the, the tongue weight will be less. The weight of the spinner assembly will counterbalance some of the weight on the front hitch of the Unit. The Tractor Must Be Equipped With an Adequate Hitch, Rated for Proper Towing Capacity, and Have Adequate Functional Brakes. ALWAYS ATTACH THE SAFETY CHAINS TO THE TRACTOR Do not modify the Construction-Renovation Unit in any manner to hitch to the tractor or to attach the WideSpin spinner attachment. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS STEP 1. Secure the Construction-Renovation Unit and the tractor. The must be hitched to the tractor before installing the spinner attachment. The tongue should set level when hitched to the tractor. Set the tractors brakes, shut off the engine, and block the wheels of the Unit. Unit Must Always Be Hitched To the Tractor When the Spinner Attachment Is Installed. The Weight of the Spinner Attachment Can Cause the Front of the Unit to Tip Up. STEP 2. After the Unit is hitched to the tractor, remove and replace the rear stabilizer leg in the Up position (See Figure 1). REAR STABILIZER LEG (SHOWN DOWN) CAUTION FIGURE 1 AS STEP 3. If the has been equipped with the optional Conveyor Attachment or the Conveyor Swivel Attachment, they must be removed before the Spinner Attachment can be installed. Refer to the Conveyor Attachment and Conveyor Attachment Swivel manual. STEP 4. Locate and check the condition of the rear attachment mounting brackets (See Figure 2). The brackets should be clean and not plugged with dirt or debris. Check the condition of the brackets; look for missing plastic pads, cracked or excessively worn pads, broken welds or missing hardware. Make any repairs needed before installing the Spinner Attachment. Use Proper Lifting Equipment and Techniques to Install the Spinner Attachment. The WideSpin Spinner Attachment Weighs 99.8 Kg (220 Pounds)

Slide the spinner attachment Into the rear attachment mounting brackets. The lip on the rear of the spinner attachment should slip between the plastic pads on the rear attachment brackets. STEP 6. Lock the spinner attachment to the front attachment mounting brackets with the latch assemblies (See Figure 2). The latch assembly will slip into a pocket located on the bottom of the front attachment brackets. The lip on the front of the spinner attachment should slip between the plastic pads on the latch assemblies. The eye hook on the latch draw should fit over the pin in the units front mounting bracket. The latch assemblies should draw tight and firmly lock the spinner attachment to the mounting brackets. Insert the detent pins into the latch assemblies to secure the latches. STEP 7. Install the spinner attachment s hydraulic hoses to the (See Figure 3). Ensure that both the tractor and the hydraulic pressure from the tractor have been shut off before attempting to connect the hoses SAFE-20 Do Not Check For Hydraulic Leaks By Using Your Hands. Hydraulic Fluid Can Be Forced Under the Skin Causing Serious Injury. Connect the hose from the spinner assembly (with male quick release fitting) to the female quick release fitting on the. The hose from the (with the male quick release fitting) plugs into the female fitting on the spinner assembly (located under the AS PLASTIC PADS ON LATCHES spinner frame, on the right hand spinner motor). Route hose under the spinner attachment. STEP 8. Check the position of the Attachment Speed Control. Place the control handle at position Six (6). During operation, readjust as required. CONNECT HOSES CONNECT HOSE TO MOTOR (ROUTE HOSE UNDER ATTACHMENT) FIGURE 3 STEP 9. Inspect the installation. Check for properly tightened fasteners and that all component are properly installed. 8 DESCRIPTION Description WIDESPIN SPINNER ATTACHMENT The Turfco WideSpin Spinner Attachment is an optional attachment for the Construction- Renovation Unit. The spinner attachment is designed to broadcast the flow of material being discharged from the hopper. The spinner attachment is only intended to be used for the handling of properly prepared sand or organic top dressing material. The spinner attachment is intended to be used only with the Construction- Renovation Unit. INTENDED USE OF THE WIDESPIN SPINNER ATTACHMENT The WideSpin spinner attachment is intended to be used to broadcast the discharge of material from the hopper. The spinner attachment is intended to be used only for the broadcasting of properly prepared sand or top dressing material. Properly prepared top dressing is organic material with a controlled moisture content that has been screened to remove debris, rocks, and excess sized top dressing material. The spinner attachment is intended to be used only when the operator is present at the drivers position at the tractor. The spinner attachment is intended to be operated only when the Unit is moving. The spinner attachment is not intended to be used when the is stationary. The spinner attachment is to be USED ONLY as an attachment to the Unit. The spinner attachment is NOT intended to be used as an attachment for any other machine. The spinner attachment is not intended to be operated unless it is properly attached to the CR- 10 Construction-Renovation Unit. Do Not Use With Unscreened Top Dressing Material. Do Not Use With Ferrous or Non-Organic Top Dressing Material. Do Not Use With Rocks. Do Not Step or Allow Riders On or In the Spinner Attachment. Do Not Operate On Side Slopes Over 15 Degrees. Do Not Operate Up and Down Slopes Over 15 Degrees. Do Not Tow Unit At Ground Speeds More Than 9.6 Km/h (6 MPH) When Equipped With the Optional Spinner Attachment. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF THE SPINNER ATTACHMENT MAJOR COMPONENTS See Figure 4 for the location of the major components of the spinner attachment. Do not modify the spinner attachment in any manner. Do not operate the spinner with damaged or inoperable components. Manual Tube: The manual tube is located on the front of the Unit. The tube is used to store the this manual and the operators manual. Latch Assemblies: The Spinner Attachment is locked onto the rear of the Construction-Renovation Unit by using two latch assemblies. The latch assemblies clamp onto the attachment mounting bracket located on the rear of the. The latch assemblies should always be checked before operation. If adjustment is required, refer to the Assembly and Installation Instructions Section or the Service Section in this manual for more information. Flow Direction Hopper: The flow hopper is located on the top of the spinner. It guides the material being discharged from the conveyor belt onto the spinner wheels. Left and Right Hand Spinner Wheels: The spinner wheels are rotating wheels equipped with vanes. The rotating motion of the wheels broadcasts the material. The left and right hand spinner wheels rotate in opposite directions. Spread Diverter: The spread diverter is located between the spinner wheels at the rear of the attachment where the top dressing material is discharged. The diverter is adjustable up or down to accommodate the differences in top dressing material and to control the amount of overlap occurring in the center of the spread. Hydraulic Hoses to : The hydraulic hoses provide the hydraulic power to run the spinner s hydraulic motors. The hoses plug into the quick release fittings used for attachments. Hydraulic Motors: The hydraulic motors (qty. 2) power the spinner wheels. The hydraulic motors are located under the spinner wheels. LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF THE SPINNER ATTACHMENT OPERATOR CONTROLS AND OPERATOR POSITION (See Figure 4) Operator Position: The proper location for the operator of the Construction-Renovation Unit and the WideSpin Spinner Attachment is seated in the tractor s seat. Always stop the tractor s hydraulic power and set the s hand held ON/OFF control to OFF before leaving the tractor s seat. Do not stand behind or allow anyone to stand behind the when the spinner attachment is operating. Tilt Control Handle and Tilt Locking Handle: The Spinner Attachment can be tilted up or down to vary the angle and spread of the broadcasted material. The tilt adjustment can be also used to level the spinner attachment to correct for varying hitch heights on different tractors. After adjusting the tilt, always lock the setting by firmly setting the locking handle

HAND HELD ON/OFF CONTROL BOX SWITCH LIFT CONTROL Do not operate the tractor, the, or the spinner attachment with damaged or inoperable operator controls or components. Attachment Speed Hydraulic Flow Control: The Attachment Speed Hydraulic Flow Control is located on the left rear side of the unit. The control varies the speed of the Spinner Attachment spinner wheels by regulating the amount of hydraulic flow sent to the spinner hydraulic motors. Do not modify the spinner attachment speed control in any manner. Do not operate the spinner attachment with a damaged or inoperable speed control METERING GATE HANDLE DS ATTACHMENT SPEED HYDRAULIC FLOW CONTROL FIGURE 5 Hand Held ON/OFF Control Box Switch: The hand held control box switch controls the on/off operation of both the Unit and the Spinner Attachment. Refer to the decal on the hand held box. The switch has 3 positions: 1. Unit Conveyor OFF (O) Attachment OFF (O) 2. Unit Conveyor OFF (O) Attachment ON ( I ) 3. Unit Conveyor ON ( I ) Attachment ON ( I ) Always be at the operator s position before engaging the ON/OFF switch. Always keep the hand held control box in a secure place. When not in use, secure the hand held control box to the frame side panel of the Unit. Wind up the cable on the control wire bracket. If the control box drops to the ground, the wiring harness can become tangled in the axles and wheels. Do not place the hand held control box inside of the hopper. Severe damage to the switch, switch cable, conveyor belt, and spinner wheels will result if the control box becomes tangled in the conveyor belt and spinner assembly. Tractor Hydraulic Power Supply: Power to drive the and the spinner attachment is provided by the tractor. Refer to the tractor s operator manual for more information about hydraulic power supply controls and connections. Locate and be familiar with the tractor s controls being used to power and control the Construction-Renovation Unit and spinner attachment. Metering Gate Handle: The Metering gate handle regulates the amount of material released from the CR- 10 hopper. If the amount of material being released to the spinner attachment needs to be corrected, adjust the metering gate opening. The metering gate is manually controlled by moving the metering gate handle. Hydraulic Lift Control: The hydraulic lift control raises or lowers the rear of the unit. During operation of the spinner attachment, the should be in its lowest position. The should not be not raised during operation of the spinner attachment or raised during towing of the Unit. Use the tilt control on the Spinner Attachment to control the angle and spread of the broad 9

Wear the Appropriate Personal Safety Equipment. Read and Follow all Safety Decals and Warnings. PRE-OPERATION CHECKLIST Grease - The Unit Bearings. Check - hand held conveyor switch is in the OFF ( O ) position and is secure at the tractor s operator position. Check - Both spinner attachment latch assemblies are properly installed and lock the spinner attachment to the. Check - Spinner attachment hydraulic quick disconnects to are correct and secure. Check - All guards are in place. Check - The Unit is properly hitched and secured to the tractor. The lower frame on the CR- 10 Unit should set level. Check - The rear stabilizer leg is raised and secured in the Up position. Check - Visually inspect inside of the Unit for tools, shovels, rocks or debris remaining from earlier use. ALWAYS ATTACH THE SAFETY CHAINS TO THE TRACTOR CHECKING TRACTOR POWER, HITCH AND BRAKE REQUIREMENTS Assure that the tractor is properly equipped to power the Unit and the spinner attachment. The tractor must have at least 29.4 K/Wt (40 horsepower) and be equipped with Open Center hydraulics that can provide 19 MPA at 30.3 Liters Per Minute (2750 PSI at 9 GPM). The tractor must also have adequate and functional brakes. The tractor must have an appropriate hitch. The CR- 10 Unit is equipped with either a clevis style hitch that requires the use of a 1 inch pin (25.4 mm) or an optional pintle (lunette) eye hitch. The Unit and the spinner attachment must set level when hitched to the tractor. When properly loaded and fully raised, the can have a tongue weight of 1,161 Kg (2560 Pounds). The Tractor Must Be Equipped With an Adequate Hitch, Rated for Proper Towing Capacity, and Have Adequate Functional Brakes. Always keep the Unit hitched to the tractor. The weight of the spinner attachment counterbalances some of the tongue weight on the. The spinner attachment can cause the front of the to tip up if the unit is not properly secured to the tractor. CAUTION Unit Must Always Be Attached To the Tractor When the Spinner Attachment Is Installed. Under Certain Conditions, the Weight of the Spinner Attachment Can Cause the Front of the Unit to Tip Up. SPINNER ATTACHMENT OPERATOR POSITION The proper location for the Unit and spinner attachment operator is at the tractors seat. Always stop the tractors hydraulic power to the and place the hand held ON/OFF switch to off ( O ) before leaving the tractor s seat. Do not stand behind the Unit and spinner attachment when they are operating. Always Operate the Unit and the Spinner Attachment From the Tractor s Seat. Always Disengage the Tractor s Hydraulic Power and Set the Hand Held ON/OFF Switch in the OFF Before Leaving the Tractor s Seat. DANGER STAY CLEAR WHILE SPINNERS ARE OPERATING Keep Hands and Clothing Away From Rotating Conveyor Belts and Spinner Wheels. DO NOT Allow Riders In or On The Unit or the Spinner Attachment. DO NOT Allow Anyone To Stand Behind the Spinner Attachment When It Is Operating

11 OPERATION TRACTOR HYDRAULIC POWER OPERATION The tractor s hydraulics is used to power the Unit and the Spinner Attachment. Refer to the tractor s operator manual for correct operation of the hydraulic power supply drive. Choose the proper gear range on the tractor that will provide high enough engine RPM to provide proper hydraulic pressure but not exceed a ground speed of 9.6 Km/h (6 MPH). AND SPINNER ATTACHMENT TOWING When the spinner attachment is attached to the CR- 10, the maximum ground speed should not exceed 9.6 Km/h (6 MPH). Excessive stress on the machine will occur if speeds are in excess of 9.6 Km/h (6 MPH). The Unit must be in a fully lowered position during towing and during operation of the spinner attachment. the spinner wheels by stopping the conveyor belt before stopping the spinner attachment. Always keep the hand held switch in a secure place. When not in use, secure the hand held switch to the frame side panel of the Unit. Wind up the cable on the control wire bracket. If the control box drops to the ground, the wiring harness can become tangled in the axles and wheels. Do not place the hand held switch inside of the hopper. ON/OFF HAND HELD CONTROL BOX METERING GATE HANDLE TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY and To Avoid Damage to the Machine, DO NOT Tow the Unit and the Spinner Attachment Over 6 MPH (9.6 Km/h). Do not tow or operate the Unit and the spinner attachment on side slopes over 15 degrees. Do not tow or operate the Unit and spinner attachment up or down slopes over 15 degrees. Do not tow the Unit with an over filled or overloaded hopper. Tipping or rolling over of the machine can occur. TO AVOID SERIOUS INJURY and To Avoid Damage to the, Spinner Attachment and the Tractor, Do Not Operate on Side Slopes Over 15 Degrees. Do Not Operate Up or Down Slopes Over 15 Degrees. HAND HELD ON/OFF SWITCH (See Figure 6) The ON/OFF switch controls the on/off operation of both the and the Spinner Attachment. Refer to the decal on the hand held box - the switch has 3 positions: 1. Unit Conveyor OFF (O) Attachment OFF (O) 2. Unit Conveyor OFF (O) Attachment ON ( I ) 3. Unit Conveyor ON ( I ) Attachment ON ( I ) Always be at the operator s position before engaging the ON/OFF switch. Always start the spinner attachment before starting the conveyor belt. Avoid plugging the spinner attachment by ensuring that the spinner is operating before the conveyor belt is started. Always allow the spinner attachment to clear all of the material from FIGURE 6 OP SETTING ATTACHMENT SPEED CONTROL (See Figure 6) The Attachment Speed Control regulates the amount of hydraulic flow to power the spinner wheels. Changes to the setting will increase or decrease the speed of the spinner attachment wheels. Changing the speed control only affects the speed of the spinner wheels; the attachment speed control does not affect the operating speed of the conveyor belt. The Attachment Speed Control is calibrated from 0 to 10 (zero to ten). Start out at a speed setting of 6 to 7. Observe the width of the spread and the quality of the pattern. Adjust the speed higher, 8 to 10, to increase the width and spread out the pattern. Increasing the speed setting will also help the spinner attachment in handling heavier top dressing material types. (Note that the tilt angle on the spinner attachment, the spread diverter, and the setting of the metering gate will also change the spread and pattern.) For a heavy spread with a narrower width, start at 4-1/2 up to 6. Setting the speed control under 4 will result in very slow spinner wheel speed. This can only be used with very light material at a very low volume. The spread width and pattern at a setting under 4 will be very narrow and produce a poor pattern. 11

12 OPERATION SETTING METERING GATE (See Figure 6) The amount of top dressing material released from the hopper to the spinner attachment can be varied by changing the Unit metering gate setting. Decrease the opening of the metering gate if the spinner attachment is unable to handle the volume of top dressing material or if material is spilling over the edge of the spinner assembly. For a lesser volume of material broadcasted, decreasing the metering gate opening will have better results than decreasing the speed of the spinner attachment. The moisture content of the top dressing material and the type of top dressing material will affect the rate of material being carried on the conveyor belt thru the metering gate. Combine the adjustment of the metering gate with the adjustment of the attachment speed hydraulic control. Experimentation by the operator will help to determine the proper setting. hopper panel is open will be too high for the spinner attachment to handle. LIFT CONTROL (See Figure 7) Do not use the Unit Lift Control to raise the rear of the Unit during operation of the spinner attachment. LIFT CONTROL HANDLE REAR HOPPER PANEL LATCH PINS (QTY. 2) SETTING SPINNER ATTACHMENT TILT CONTROL (See Figure 7) The Spinner Attachment can be tilted up or down to vary the angle and spread of the broadcasted material. After adjusting the tilt, always lock the setting by firmly setting the locking handle. The amount of tilt used during operation will always vary depending on: The type of material being broadcasted The amount being broadcasted The desired width of the broadcast The setting on the Attachment Speed Control. Stop the Spinner Attachment Before Adjusting the Spinner Tilt Control and Spinner Diverter. ATTACHMENT SPEED CONTROL SPINNER ATTACHMENT TILT CONTROL AND LOCKING HANDLE FIGURE 7 SPINNER DIVERTER AND VANE ANGLE ADJUSTMENT OP SETTING SPINNER DIVERTER AND VANE ANGLE ADJUSTMENT (See Figure 7) Refer this adjustment to Service Level Personnel. 13 OPERATION OPERATOR DAILY INSPECTION TROUBLESHOOTING TABLE SAFE-21 Do Not Attempt To Perform Any Inspection, Adjustment, or Service With Any Part of the Unit or Spinner Attachment Operating. Work Safely and Wear the Appropriate Safety Gear When Inspecting, Making Adjustments, or Servicing The Unit and Spinner Assembly. Follow All Safety Hazard Warnings and Decals. Before and after each use, check the following items: Inspect for damaged or missing guards on the CR- 10 Unit and the spinner attachment. Do not operate any machine with missing or damaged guards. Inspect entire and the spinner attachment for damaged or inoperable components. Do not operate any machine with damaged or inoperable components. Inspect the entire machine for loose fasteners. Retighten as required. Inspect all and spinner attachment operator controls for proper operation. Check the tires for proper inflation. Inflate the tires to 207 kpa (30 PSI). Inspect the spinner attachment spinner wheels. Check for proper alignment, damage, wear, and missing hardware. Check for a buildup of material on spinner attachment components. Check for a buildup on and under the spinner wheels. Check for a buildup of material on components under the Unit hopper and conveyor belt. Inspect the Unit conveyor belt for adjustment. Check the measurement on the belt tension adjusting screws for proper setting of belt tension. If adjustment is required, see the instructions for Conveyor Belt Tension Adjustment in the Operator Adjustment section of the operators manual. Check the conveyor belt adjustment and alignment frequently during operation. Maintain proper daily lubrication intervals on the CR- 10 Unit. Visually inspect the inside of the Unit hopper for tools, shovels, rakes, rocks or debris remaining from earlier use. 14 OPERATOR LEVEL MAINTENANCE Operator Level Adjustment and Service Do Not Attempt To Adjust, Service or Lubricate any Part of the Spinner Attachment When It Is Operating. Properly Secure The Unit and the Spinner Attachment Before Starting Any Adjustment, Service or Cleaning Procedures. Operator Level Adjustment and Service is limited to: Cleaning Inspection Storage Refer all other service, adjustments or repairs to qualified service personnel. SAFE-20 DANGER Do Not Use Your Fingers Or Hands To Check For Hydraulic Leaks. High Pressure Leaks Can Puncture The Skin And Force Oil Into The Body. This Can Cause Severe Injury Or Death. Be Aware of High Hydraulic Oil Temperatures. Serious Burns and Injuries Are Possible. EUROPEAN LUBRICANTS, FUEL, AND PARTS DISPOSAL NUMBERS Motor Oil Gear Oil Grease Plastic Parts CLEANING Wash the excess material from the spinner wheels and spinner attachment components after each use. Use only low pressure wash to clean the spinner attachment. After extended periods of use, the spinner wheels may collect a buildup of material. This buildup may cause excessive vibration or poor spreading results. During operation, periodically inspect and remove any buildup of material from the spinner wheels, the spinner attachment deflectors, the guards, and the shields. After cleaning, apply a very light film of machine oil to the spinner wheel and spinner wheel vanes to control rust. INSPECTION After the spinner attachment has been cleaned, inspect for damage. Look for loose or missing hardware. Inspect the spinner wheels for loose or missing vanes. Visually inspect for hydraulic leaks on the motors, hoses and the hydraulic fittings. NEVER USE YOUR HANDS TO LOOK FOR HYDRAULIC LEAKS. Refer any needed repair work to qualified service personnel. Storage TO STORE THE SPINNER ATTACHMENT OVER AN EXTENDED PERIOD, clean all surfaces and remove any remaining material. Use low pressure wash on the spinner attachment, DO NOT use high pressure wash. Perform a complete inspection of the spinner attachment. Refer any needed service or repair to service level personnel. Apply a film of light machine oil to the spinner wheels to control rust. To avoid dirt from entering the hydraulic quick disconnect fittings, plug the male fitting on the hose to the female fitting on the bottom of the right hand spinner motor. Store in an upright position. To protect the rubber and plastic parts, store the spinner attachment out of direct sunlight. TO RETURN TO SERVICE AFTER EXTENDED STORAGE, inspect the entire machine for any damage that may have occurred during storage. Refer any needed correction to service level personnel

15 SERVICE LEVEL MAINTENANCE Service Level Maintenance THE FOLLOWING SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURES ARE FOR QUALIFIED SERVICE LEVEL PERSONNEL ONLY. SAFE-21 Do Not Attempt To Service any Part of the Spinner Attachment or the Unit When It Is Operating. Always Follow All Safety Hazard Warnings. Work Safely And Wear The Appropriate Safety Gear When Servicing The Unit and the Spinner Attachment. Properly Secure The Unit Before Starting Any Adjustment, Service or Lubrication Procedures. LATCH ASSEMBLY ADJUSTMENT (See Figure 8) When the latch assemblies are installed on the CR- 10 Unit, they should provide a positive drawing force on the attachment. This force must be tight enough to properly secure the attachment to the Unit. The latch assembly handle should require a firm (but not excessive) force to close the latch assembly handle into its locked position. LATCH ASSEMBLY LOCKING HANDLE EYELET AND LATCH ROD FIGURE 8 LATCH ROD JAM NUT DETENT PIN AND DETENT PIN HOLE SV If the latch assembly or the attachment is loose (or too tight) when installed, an adjustment to the latch assembly draw can be made. Loosen the rear jam nut on the latch rod and turn the rod to adjust. Do not loosen the jam nut at the eyelet and turn the eyelet to adjust. Check the setting before locking the jam nut. Before adjusting the latch rod, check that the latch assemblies can be fully inserted into the pockets on the Unit attachment mounting brackets. Also check the condition of the latch pins on the mounting brackets. LEFT AND RIGHT HAND SPINNER WHEELS The spinner wheels receive hydraulic power from the Unit. The spinner wheels start to operate as soon as the hand held switch is in the ON ( I ) position for the attachment. Direction of rotation is opposite from each other. The left hand wheel spins clockwise, the right hand wheel spins counterclockwise (as viewed from the rear of the ). The spinner wheels are a direct drive from the hydraulic motors. Check the following items to troubleshoot the spinner wheels: Check for a buildup of material on the surfaces of the spinner wheels and vanes. Check for a buildup of material or obstructions caught under the spinner wheels. Check for restricted operation with other components. Spinner wheels should not rub on the directional shields. Check for loose or out-of-position spinner shields. Check for loose hydraulic motors or out-of-position hydraulic motors (Additional information can be found in the Hydraulic Section). Check for damaged hydraulic hoses or fittings. Check the hydraulic solenoid valve (located near the attachment speed control) on the Unit. Hydraulic motors or out-of-position hydraulic motors (Additional information can be found in the Unit manual in the Hydraulic Section). Check for loose electrical connections on the CR- 10 hand held switch (Additional information can be found in the Unit manual in the Electrical Section). Refer to Adjusting WideSpin Spinner Vane Angle in this section for information regarding vane and settings and adjustment. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM The Spinner Attachment does not have any electrical components of its own. The ON/OFF function is part of the main Unit and the hand held ON/OFF switch. Refer to the Construction- Renovation Unit manual for information regarding the electrical system. 15

16 SERVICE LEVEL MAINTENANCE ADJUSTING WIDESPIN SPINNER DIVERTER (See Figure 9 and 10) The diverter controls the amount of overlap occurring in the center of the spread (See Figure 9). Normal adjustments to the spinner tilt control, attachment speed control and the metering gate will usually correct any overlap problems in the spread pattern. However, because of the large variations in different types, weights and moisture contents of top dressing materials, it may be necessary to also readjust the diverter. The diverter is adjustable up and down. The lower the diverter is set, the more trimming effect it will have on controlling the amount of overlap. Loosen both diverter locking nuts. Slide diverter up or down, retighten lock nuts. Additional overlap control can be done by changing the vane angle. Refer to Adjusting WideSpin Spinner Vane Angle on the next page. 17 SERVICE LEVEL MAINTENANCE ADJUSTING WIDESPIN SPINNER VANE ANGLE (See Figure 9 and Figure 11) The mounting angle of the vanes on the spinner wheels is adjustable. Changing the angle of the vanes will vary the width, pattern and overlap of the spread. Normal adjustments to the spinner tilt control, spread diverter, the attachment speed control and the metering gate will usually correct any problems in the spread pattern. However, because of the large variations in different types, weights and moisture contents of top dressing materials, it may be necessary to change the vane mounting angles. Decreasing the vane angle tightens up the spread pattern (more overlap in the center and a narrower spread width). Increasing the vane angle and opens up the spread pattern (less overlap in the center and a wider spread width). Start adjustment at the minimum vane angle (standard factory vane angle setting). Loosening the locking nut on the vane. (It is not necessary to loosen the nut on the other end of the vane.) Move the vane approximately 1/4 the length of the slot and retighten the locking nut. Adjust all vanes equally. Test and readjust as needed. NOTE: Because the right and left spinner wheels rotate in opposite direction, the right and left vanes are a mirror image of each other (See Figure 11). 18 SERVICE LEVEL MAINTENANCE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM (See Figure 12) SAFE-20 DANGER Never Service Any Part Of The Hydraulic System With The Pump Operating. High Hydraulic Pressure And High Oil Temperatures Can Cause Serious Injury Or Death. Do Not Use Your Fingers Or Hands To Check For Hydraulic Leaks. High Pressure Leaks Can Puncture The Skin And Force Oil Into The Body. This Can Cause Severe Injury Or Death. Be Aware of High Hydraulic Oil Temperatures. Serious Burns and Injuries Are Possible. Check the condition of the hydraulic hoses. Leaks and worn hoses should be fixed or replaced before the machine is put into service. The hydraulic system has pipe thread fittings on some of the components. If disassembled, reseal the pipe thread fitting with Teflon tape or pipe dope. The steel hydraulic piping is equipped with flared fittings that do not require the use of Teflon tape or pipe dope. HYDRAULIC OIL Hydraulic fluid to operate the Spinner Attachment is provided by the tractor. Check the fluid level at the tractor to assure that proper fluid levels and volume is being supplied to both the Unit and the Spinner Attachment. DRAINING SPINNER ATTACHMENT HYDRAULIC SYSTEM The hydraulic system is self-bleeding and does not normally store or retain any pressure when not in operation. However, in the event of failure of certain components, hydraulic pressure can be trapped in the system. Before servicing any component, check for any remaining hydraulic pressure. Allow time for the hydraulic oil in the system to cool. Disconnect the quick release fittings from. Be prepared to safely catch and contain approximately 0.47 liter (1/2 quart) of hydraulic oil. Draining the spinner attachment hydraulic system can be done by removing the male quick release fitting from the end of the PRESSURE IN hose.
