1 20 Rigid Industries LED Light Bar Installation into a 2002 Ford Super Duty This write-up is how I installed the Rigid Industries 20" E-Series LED Light Bar into the grill area behind the license plate bracket on Ford Super Duty trucks. Tools Needed 1. 8mm wrench 2. 10mm wrench 3. 8mm Socket 4. 10mm Socket 5. Drill bit kit and Drill 6. Wire Cutters 7. 3/8 ½ Socket 8. 3/8 socket wrench with 10 extension Materials Needed Rigid Industries LED Light Bar :// 2. (2) 1 ½ X 1 ½ x 12 Aluminum Angle Iron 3. Couple Zip Strips 4. (4) ¼ U-Nuts and bolts :// htm Step 1. The installation of this light bar into this location requires the permanent removal of your front license plate. Remove your front license plate by drilling out the 4 metal rivets under your license plate bracket. Step 2. Remove the front grill of your truck be removing the top 4 screws under the hood and then by releasing the 4 clips on the bottom side of the grill between the grill and the bumper.

2 Step 3. NOTE: The installation of this light bar into this location requires the permanent removal of your fog lights if equipped. There are (2) 8mm bolts on the top of each fog light and (1) 8mm on the bottom of each fog light. You can only remove these by using a small ratchet or a ratcheting wrench. Remove these bolts by going sticking your arm down the front side of the A/C condenser, once removed unplug the power to each and wiggle them out very carefully to not nick or puncture your condenser. Step 4. Using 1 of the 12 pieces of aluminum angle iron use the following pictures as a guide to drill the following holes with a 3/8 drill bit. These are the pictures for the driver s side piece. To explain it you are drilling 3 holes total. 1 hole should be 6 ½ from the top and 5/8 of an inch from the outside. And there should be 1 on each end of the other face ½ from the end and ½ from the outside face. Again this is for the driver s side. For the passenger side reverse the face of the angle iron. Step 5. Now install a U-Nut on each of the holes that you drilled at the end of each piece (the holes you drilled at ½ and ½ away from the ends) NOT the hole in the middle of the piece. IMPORTANT You want to install the thread end of the U-Nut towards the opposite face. See the picture.

3 Step 6. To install the driver s side bracket find the following holes on the driver s side. For the bottom look at for the 2nd hole to the inside of the notch. I used a U-Nut for identification of the hole you are going to use. Not look directly above and you will see a hole to the inside of a big black bolt.

4 You are going to install the bracket on the front side of these bolts so that you are bolting them from the condenser side. Tighten both end downs tightly and you should end up with it bolted like this. Notice where the middle bolts is not facing the passenger side directly that is where the light bar will be bolted through. Step 7. Now on the passenger side locate the following bolt holes. For the bottom look at for the 2nd hole to the inside of the notch. I used a U-Nut for identification of the hole you are going to use. Not look directly above and you will see a hole to the inside of a big black bolt.

5 You are going to install the bracket on the front side of these bolts so that you are bolting them from the condenser side. Loosely connect the bottom of the bracket down and swing the top piece towards the passenger fender. Now install the light bar to the driver s side bracket using the lock washer and lock nut and leave it somewhat loose. While holding the light bar up with one hand and using the other hand through the front of the condenser connect the passenger side bracket to the light bar FIRST and then bolt the bracket down to the top of the bumper, now also tighten the bottom bolt. Tighten both the light bar bolts down using the lock washer and lock nut supplied with the light bar, leave these loose a bit so you can aim it later. You can access the light bar bolts by using a long extension through the tow hook area. Wiring. You can choose to use the factory fog light wiring if you choose or you can install the wiring harness that came with the light bar if your truck didn t have OEM fog lights. Either way will work and the OEM also has built it fuses and a relay already. To use the OEM harness you have to flip the clips around so they are 180 degrees apart because the LED s needs the positive to positive and negative to negative. An incandescent light doesn t care. If you use this method just use a zip strip as a lock by zipping them together. To install the Light Bar harness just run the switch to the location of your choosing in the cab now run the power cables to the battery and then the light bar connection down to the front bumper. Once you have the harness ran connect the light bar first and then the battery wires and zip strip the harness out of the way of any moving parts. To aim the light bar wait till night and using the 3/8 ½ socket on the 10 extension loosen the nuts at the end of the light bar and aim the bar and then tighten each nut down. Now reinstall the grill and close the hood. You are now done.
