2 Infinitely variable range from 3.0m - 7.5m (Maximum paving width 9.0m) Embracing an Era of Environmental Performance The "HA90C J-paver" maintains the superior paving precision and operational performance attained by Sumitomo Asphalt Finisher models, which have been continually developed to cope with ever changing paving surfaces. Thanks to the introduction of the latest technology, this has been combined with a performance that adheres to the current needs for environmental soundness, and will continue to be adapted to meet future challenges. 1 2

3 Beginning with the J-paver screed; Operations supported by the latest technology The no-level extensible triple screed can be extended up to 7.5m with one touch of a button The J-paver screed can be freely extended from 3.0 to 7.5 meters without any extra screed extension equipment. Even during construction, the paving width can be changed without halting operations. The screed is also designed to have no auxiliary screed, so the paving quality (finished surface, density) is free from any problems caused as a result of the difference in width between screeds. Employment of the adjustablestrike-off system (STV spec) that can be used with all types of asphalt materials. Sumitomo's strike-off provide an optimal material flow into a screed plate as well as preliminary compaction. In particular,strike-off fits to hard-toflow materials,such as recycling asphalt mixture,stone mastic asphalt mixture,and prous mixture. Power level adjustment mechanism set as standard for easy and quick level adjustment A change in paving thickness resulting from the design of the extendable screed causes level difference (streaks) on the paving surface at the lapping part between the front and rear screeds. The level adjustment is important to make the surface pressure as even as possible and finish uniform paving surfaces. Equipped with the power level adjustment device as standard, the HA60W permits easy adjustment of the level through simple switch operation. This also allows the level difference to be adjusted quickly even in vertical sloping operation that requires a sudden change in paving thickness. A strong screed that can cope with a full 7.5m width The screed is constructed in three forwardfacing interconnected sections, which means that it is comparatively simple and sturdy compared to the multi-leveled structures used in other companies' machines. Level adjustments also need only be made in two locations. Easy-to-operate power crown device installed as standard The hydraulic power crowning adopted allows the crowning amount to be easily adjusted through switch operation. This permits continual and speedy crown operation so that the working efficiency can be greatly improved while undertaking construction on winding roads such as on mountain paths. Step extended to full 7.5m width The J-paver screed has a full 6m wide step installed. This allows movement up to the very edge of the paving surface, and provides a clear field of vision onto the operational area. In addition, this means that the operator can climb on an off the step without stepping on the paving surface, and a safety bar has been fitted to ensure operations are carried out safely. Blower-type heating system for evenly heating the screed plate 0.75m bolt-on extension screed J Paver creed extends hydraulically from 2.3m to 7.5m and builds up with bolt-on extention up to a maximum width of 9.0m. The screed plate is evenly heated up by hot air produced from the blower heater. This makes the paving surface even from the start of paving. The blower system is also efficient. Therefore, the shorter heating time also reduces the consumption of propane gas. The installed temperature sensor indicates the optimum temperature, and is displayed by the lamp. 3 4

4 The ample asphalt materials feed capacity and adjust function flexibly meet diversifying construction conditions. Thanks to use of the new-form hopper, it has become easier to feed in asphalt material. Making use of the 13 ton capacity new-form hopper Materials can be fed easily with hydraulically and separately operated side-hoppers and 45 degree-tilted front hopper. Ample asphalt material supply capacity A feed rate of 700tons of asphalt material per hour has been obtained. Even on sites where high paving speed is required, the HA90C will make it. The expanded conveyor opening of the body enables the smooth feeding of asphalt material. Extensible/retractable mold board keeping the asphalt material capacity constant This extensible /retractable mold board working with the rear screeds is installed as standard. The board suitably cuts off asphalt material to avoid over capacity in front of the rear screeds and prevents slipping when starting. Furthermore, it enables the smooth feed of asphalt material to the screed end. The mold board can also be easily raised and lowered from side-on with the use of a ratchet spanner. Tamper & greaseless vibrator capable of powerful and even compaction For compaction, two models are available : the greaseless vibrator model (V Model) and the hydraulic motor direct-drive type tamper/vibrator model (TV model). You can adjust the compaction depending on the type of asphalt material while looking at the revolution indicator (optional on the V model). In addition, the greaseless vibrator's oil-bus system makes maintenance very straightforward. Screw height adjustment Screw height adjustment system realizes any kinds of paving wherever layer thickness varies. Movable screw makes loading activity very easy.(option) Employment of a pivot-point screed after-mark prevention structure. Previous models often had the problem that, when joining with dump trucks, the finisher would be shunted backwards and leave after-marks or screed-marks on the paving surface. The HA60W has a structure installed so that, even if the truck s body is shunted, the screed does not move. Electromagnetic proportional control system for tamper and vibrator Revolution adjustments to the tamper and vibrator are controlled electronically, so the troublesome tasks of tightening and loosening valves have been alleviated. Of course, by way of simple adjustments to volume during compacting operations, precision control can be achieved while physically observing the compaction process. Furthermore, a TV revolution counter is fitted as standard on TV specification type machines, allowing adjustments to be made while simultaneously making sure of the number of revolutions. 5 6

Operation switch Clear arrangement of operation switches on a control box can lead to easy operation. Coon rail fuel injection system The super-high-pressure coon rail fuel injection system realizes super-high-pressure, high-precision multiple-injections. Timing and volume of fuel injection is controlled, which improves consumption efficiency, and PM (particulate matter) is greatly reduced. In addition, a water-cooled EGR system has been employed, which further efficiently reduces NOx (nitrogen oxide). Employment of a digital speed meter During paving operations (low speed mode) the set speed is displayed. During transit (high speed mode) running speed is displayed. Engine revolution counter is displayed In addition to the angles of the operational turning lever being visually displayed, the steerage angles are shown as a 7-level bar graph, allowing the operator to control the degrees of steer. A service monitor displays the condition of the engine at a glance An engine rated at 132kw with a turbo charger provides enough power for any types of operations. In-shoe motor The running motor employs a direct HST drive installed inside left and right side sprockets. It is a structure that does not require the use of a drive chain, so extra labor created by chain adjustments is eliminated. This means that construction can be carried out in the assurance that running stoppages caused by the chain breaking will not occur. Utilization of a link-shoe that employs durable rubber pads The link-shoe utilizes rubber pads, which can run on road surfaces that have already been set without marking them. In addition, the link employs a high durability strut structure. Harnessing superior movement stability By using the latest feedback control technology, deviations from the set course are kept to just 0.2%, which means operators are freed from the troublesome task of making steering corrections. During construction, the status and weight of loads on left and right sides is continually monitored, so that even for jobs requiring large quantities of materials to be carried on one side, the course and speed settings are automatically maintained by the control system. The new engine complies with the Emission Regulation U.S.EPA Tier III,and EU stage IIIA. The advanced low noise design complies with upcoming EU noice regulation 2000/14/EC,STAGE II. Employing the latest travel control system The engine, hydraulic pumps, and running motor are centrally controlled with fine precision by a computer. In addition, settings are stored in the computer s memory, so construction can be carried out simply by turning the running switch to on or off. The HA60C s controller contains the following special features 1. Fluctuations of speed due to changes in the weight of load do not occur, so paving smoothness is improved. 2. Deviations from the set course caused by changes in the weight of load are very small, so unevenness in forward movement is reduced to an absolute minimum. 3. Paving speed can be set to a minimum of 1.5m/min. It is adaptable to all kinds of construction. 4. At the start of construction works, a control function is used to achieve a soft-start. 5. Paving speeds can be set and altered even when at a standing stop. This allows the rake man to operate at either end of the paving width (up to 7.5 meters). Easy-to-view thickness gauge On previous models the thickness gauge was located on the very top of the pivot cylinder, but thanks to moving it further back, it can now be viewed easily even from aboard the screed. Swing operation seat Swing seat allows the operator to stretch out and check the road and working details all around. The swing seat with arm-rest can also reduce operator's tiredness,and realize safety of operating. (Option) Asphalt material supply automated by the ultrasonic type material flow-controller (optional) The ultrasonic sensor detects fluctuations in the volume of asphalt materials being taken in, which then allows the screw s revolution speed to be automatically controlled, ensuring that a set volume of materials are continuously supplied to the screed. Friction force on the asphalt materials is maintained at a constant level, so the smoothness of finish is improved. Furthermore, the operator is freed from attending to the difficult tasks of material intake and flow-control, allowing full attention to be given to surfacing operations. This is particularly effective when set to one-man-control mode. The grade controller that makes your preferred choices possible from a multiple range of options (optional) There are two types, ultrasonic and contact. With the ultrasonic type grade controller, surface thickness is automatically controlled and can be displayed digitally. In addition to operation being simple, remote control can be used to set and altar surface thicknesses to within an accuracy of 1 units, which can then be confirmed through a digital display. This provides a means to guarantee an unrivaled level of control and precision in this system s superior smoothness of finish. Furthermore, there is no need to install grids or short-ski devices, and other additional adjustments do not need to be made. This is because distances from curbs, waterways and other physical objects etc are calculated and controlled ultrasonically, which means that there is no concern over problems such as those caused by going over rocks or encountering a sudden change in thickness. In addition, models with the heat adjustment function installed, actively eliminate the influence that outside air temperature and asphalt materials temperature have on gauging distances (atmospheric layers). 6 Further improvements to safety systems, maintenance features, and storage capacity Fuel, oil filter motor Thanks to the installation of fuel pre-filters as standard, breakdowns caused as a result of fuel clogs are reduced. Furthermore, due the installation of fuel and oil filters in relatively easy to access locations, replacement has been made easy. Alignment of radiator, oil cooler and intercooler By aligning the position of the radiator, oil cooler and, furthermore, the intercooler, they have been made easy to clean. We have also made provisions for rust prevention through the use of aluminum parts. Automatic emergency stop for heater device The screed heater device constantly monitors the revolutions of the blower. If for some reason the fan stops during heating, it will recognize it as an abnormality and close the propane gas powered solenoid valve. This stops breakdowns in the blower device resulting in damage caused by fires. Emergency controller for manual operation In a worst case scenario, where computer trouble has occurred, operation is made possible by the emergency drive controller. Intercooler Radiator Fuel cooler Greasing equipment Greasing points for screed are concentrated in order to reduce time for maintenance greatly. A safety circuit is used so that at the start of operations the switches for the conveyer and screw are fixed in the on position. This is a safety feature designed to ensure that the machine parts are non-operational. To release the safety locks, switch them once to off and then turn them back on again. Emergency stop switch In case of an accident, in addition to the obvious installation of an emergency stop switch on the driver s in-cabin control panel, switches have also been fitted in the central control boxes on right and left sides of the rear screed. Automatic parking brake We have developed and installed a parking brake system that works perfectly with the running engine. The new system works in perfect combination with the vehicle s motion systems. This relieves the necessity to operate a lever type parking brake. With this system, the problems of forgetting to put the brake on = the machine moving and forgetting to use the release = the machine being nonoperational are safely avoided.
