4 Section 1: K5 Installation Instructions 1. Unit Placement 2. Install ⅜ Water Supply (choose A, B or C) bracket part #12715 A. Softener to blue collet B. Under sink to blue collet C. Cold water pipe run to blue collet wall mount under sink test fit Note: No self-piercing valves. 3. Water Supply Connection 4. Faucet Mounting Preparation White Green Yellow Red Blue drill faucet mounting hole: ⅞ to 1 for air gap faucet (do not exceed 1 ) ½ for non-air gap faucet consult with customer, choose one location to blue collet Note: Drilling hole too large will result in a gap. 5. Air Charge Tank Installation use air charge kit - part #12797C (kit includes ⅜ plug - #10641, air charge valve assembly - #13886) ⅜ plug part #10641 green hand tighten Do not over torque. Torque to inch lbs. turn clockwise until stops to air tank plug (yellow collet) Note: RO air charge valve assembly must be changed out for correct function with air charge tank. 5

7 Section 2: Sanitization Procedure for K5 WOW Install Chlorine Dioxide Note: The following steps should be taken immediately after installation; no water should be in the unit. Safety glasses and rubber/latex gloves must be worn during sanitization. 1. Attach anti-spray line 2. Close feed 3. Confirm jack screw is closed The faucet should be closed. The feed valve should be closed. Note: Do not over tighten. anti-spray line 4. Install cartridge plugs in all locations, except prefilter 5. Add cleaning agent. 6. Slowly open feed valve Pour one package of cleaning agent into dry cartridge plug install plug into cartridge prefilter position. Cleaning Agent: Chlorine dioxide tablet (crush tablet while still in packet) or granules prefilter position Install 4 plugs in these locations. (RO, Auxiliary 1, Auxiliary 2, Post) 7. Wait 4 minutes 9. Slowly open faucet to depressurize the system 10. Allow system to depressurize close faucet. Note: You may near a buzzing sound from the unit. This is normal for start-up. Check for leaks. WARNING: Do not open faucet all the way. Air, water and chemical solution will spray out forcefully. Be prepared to control the anti-spray line. 8. Close feed select settings 7

8 11. Remove cartridge plug 12. Add cleaning agent 13. Install RO membrane WARNING: Handle plug with care when removing. May contain chemical solution. Pour one package of cleaning agent into dry cartridge plug install plug into cartridge prefilter position. Cleaning Agent: Chlorine dioxide tablet (crush tablet while still in packet) or granules prefilter position 14. Slowly open feed valve 16. Open jack screw completely 17. Open faucet Warning: Watch for spray. 15. Wait 2 minutes 18. Wait for flow to drop off. Close feed and allow system to depressurize. Leave faucet open. 19. Remove prefilter, post filter and auxiliary (if necessary) cartridge plugs 20. Install all remaining cartridges. (Cartridges must already be prepared according to their installation instructions.) Use cartridge plug for any unused auxiliary port. 21. Slowly open feed port. 22. Wait for a steady permeate flow at the faucet, then close. Remove antispray line. 23. Inform customer to discard first two tanks of water. 8

9 Section 3: Sanitization Procedure for K5 Air Charge Install - Chlorine Dioxide Note: The following steps should be taken immediately after installation; no water should be in the unit. Safety glasses and rubber/latex gloves must be worn during sanitization. 1. Attach anti-spray line 2. Close feed / open tank. 3. Confirm jack screw is closed and the standard tank spacer (gray) is installed in the RO shutoff position The faucet should be closed. Note: Do not over tighten. The tank valve should be open. The feed valve should be closed. anti-spray line 4. Install cartridge plugs in all locations, except prefilter 5. Add cleaning agent. 6. Slowly open feed valve. Pour one package of cleaning agent into dry cartridge plug install plug into cartridge prefilter position. Cleaning Agent: Chlorine dioxide tablet (crush tablet while still in packet) or granules kit part #12797C (see page 5 of installation instructions) prefilter position 7. Wait 4 minutes Note: You may hear a buzzing sound from the unit. This is normal for start-up. Check for leaks. Install 4 plugs in these locations. 10 11. Remove cartridge plug 12. Pour one package of cleaning agent into dry cartridge install plug into cartridge prefilter position. 13. Cleaning Agent chlorine dioxide tablet (crush tablet while still in packet) or granules prefilter position 14. Remove ⅜ plug from yellow port on manifold and insert ⅜ tube into same yellow port. Place the other end into a 5 gallon bucket. 15. Slowly open feed valve 17. Open jack screw completely ⅜ plug 16. Wait 2 minutes Note: You may hear a buzzing sound from the unit. This is normal for start-up. Check for leaks. 18. Fill bucket 19. Close feed 20. Close jack screw Note: Do not over tighten. WARNING: Do not overflow. 10

11 21. Remove ⅜ line and replace plug in yellow port 22. Discard water in bucket 23. Close faucet plug inserted into port 24. Open tank ball valve 25. Open faucet watch out for spray 26. Wait for flow to drop off. Close feed and allow system to depressurize. Leave faucet open. 27. Remove prefilter, postfilter and auxiliary (if necessary) cartridge plugs 28. Install all remaining cartridges. (Cartridges must already be prepared according to their installation instructions). Use cartridge plug for any unused auxiliary port. 29. Slowly open feed 30. Wait for steady permeate flow at the faucet then close, remove anti-spray line. Check for leaks 31. Inform customer to discard first two tanks of water. 11

12 Section 4: Sanitization Procedure for K5 WOW Install Household Bleach (unscented) uses Sanitization Kit Part No. 9392A Note: The following steps should be taken immediately after installation; no water should be in the unit. Safety glasses and rubber/latex gloves must be worn during sanitization. 1. Attach anti-spray line 2. Close feed 3. Confirm jack screw is closed The faucet should be closed. The feed valve should be closed Note: Do not over tighten. anti-spray line 4. Install cartridge plugs in all locations, except prefilter 5. Add 5 ml unscented bleach to a sanitization cartridge (kit 9392A) that is half full of clean water 6. Slowly open feed valve prefilter position 7. 13 11. Remove sanitization cartridge WARNING: Handle cartridge with care when removing. May contain chemical solution. 12. Add 5 ml unscented bleach to a sanitization cartridge that is half full of clean water. 13. Install RO prefilter position 14. Open jack screw completely 15. Slowly open feed valve 16. Wait for flow to drop off. Close feed and allow system to depressurize. Leave faucet open. 17. Remove prefilter, postfilter and auxiliary (if necessary) cartridge plugs. 18. Install all remaining cartridges. (Cartridges must already be prepared according to their installation instructions). Use cartridge plug for any unused auxiliary port. 19. Slowly open feed 20. 17 Section 6: Sanitization Procedure for K5 Air Charge Install Microbiological Purifier Chlorine Dioxide Note: The following steps should be taken immediately after installation; no water should be in the unit. Safety glasses and rubber/latex gloves must be worn during sanitization. 1. Crush one tablet of cleaning agent and add to 4 oz. of soft water. This is your pre-dissolved solution that will be used in later steps. The solution must be used within 8 hours. Cleaning Agent chlorine dioxide tablet (crush tablet while still in packet) or graules 2. Make all installation tubing connections. DO NOT OPEN SUPPLY VALVE 3. Make sure drive port (yellow) is plugged and that gray air charge spacer is installed in RO shutoff valve assembly 4. Attach anti-spray line to the faucet and make sure that faucet is closed and the storage tank valve is open anti-spray line 5. Install cartridge plugs in RO, Auxiliary and postfilter positions 6. Disconnect tubing from drain and secure into a bucket 7. Open jack screw completely (counterclockwise) 8. Crush one tablet of cleaning agent, add to a dry cartridge plug and install in open Auxiliary position. 9. By dropper, add 2 ml of predissolved sanitizer to a cartridge plug and install in the prefilter position 10. Slowly crack the supply valve part way open and observe the drain port 12. Re-attach the drain line and close the jack screw completely (clockwise) Note: Do not over tighten. prefilter position cartridge plug 11. When water comes from drain port, close the supply valve 17

18 13. Slowly open the supply valve and allow the storage tank to fill. This will take approximately four minutes. 14. Close storage tank valve 15. Slowly crack open faucet WARNING: Do not open faucet all the way. Air, water and chemical solution will spray out forcefully. Be prepared to control the anti-spray line. Note: You may hear a buzzing sound from the unit. This is normal for start-up. Check for leaks. 16. Open jack screw completely (counterclockwise), wait one minute then close jack screw completely (clockwise) 17. Close the supply valve. Leave faucet open and allow system to depressurize. 18. Disconnect the tubing from the supply valve and shake out any excess water. Add 5 ml of solution in the end of the tube, then re-attach to the supply valve. Note: Do not over tighten. 19. Add 15 ml of solution to the center of the RO cartridge and install in the RO position 20. Remove the white, starshaped insert from the postfilter and add 25 ml of solution to the center of the cartridge. Replace the insert and install cartridge in the postfilter position. 21. Add 10 ml of solution to the inlet of a dry Purefecta Guard cartridge and install in Auxiliary position. Add silicone to O-rings 18

19 22. Slowly pour remaining solution in the center of the prefilter cartridge and install in the prefilter position 23. Slowly open the supply valve 24. When solution starts flowing from the faucet, close the supply valve 25. Wait 5 minutes 26. Open storage tank valve and drain tank fully 27. Open the supply valve Check for leaks. 28. Close faucet and remove anti-spray 29. Inform customer to discard first two tanks of water 19
