2 INTRODUCTION This manual was designed to assist in the installation and operation of this unit. Please read and understand this manual before beginning installation. If you have any questions, please contact your SUPERVISION representative. WARNING Before starting the installation process, disconnect all power supply service. Failure to do so may lead to severe electrical shock, which can result in death or severe personal injury. Electrical connections must be made by a certified electrician in accordance with local codes. Risk of electric shock or electrocution if unit is not wired properly. Lamp and lamp shield may be hot. Exercise caution when working with or near these items. Failure to do so may lead to fire or personal injury. Hot Knife reaches extreme temperatures. Grasp only by the handle. Failure to do so can lead to severe burns. GENERAL INFORMATION Only qualified technicians should install this unit. Voltage used must match voltage rating of unit. Electrical circuit used should be a GFI (Ground Fault Interrupt) circuit. Install unit a minimum distance from water, according to local codes. Unit must be installed in accordance with NEC Standards. Unit can be installed partially buried or mounted to a rigid surface. Do not install unit in an enclosed area or near flammable liquids or material. Do not operate without lamp in place. Allow lamp to cool before removing. Replace with lamps supplied by SVI or authorized SVI distributor. Install in an area that has good ventilation and clearance for fan intake and exhaust. Do not install units in positions that place vents near vents of other units. 4 INSTALLATION A SITE PREPARATION Select a solid above level installation site. Do not block vents with foliage overgrowth. Do not mount unit where water may collect. Surface Mounting Note: Must provide stable platform to prevent possible tipping. Burial Note: Dig hole at this time. Hole should be 5" in depth and 14" in diameter. All conduit should be buried below this depth. Unit can be buried a maximum of 5" measured from the bottom of the unit. B CONDUIT PREPARATION Use sweep elbows for fiber optic conduit. DO NOT use 90 plumbing fittings. Three (3) conductor electrical service to be provided through 1/2" rigid conduit per local code. All conduits should be terminated 1/2" above grade. C FIBER PREPARATION 1. Fiber optic cable should be pulled through conduit leaving a minimum of 20" extending from conduit. For side light emitting cable (SideGlow ), it is recommended to loop cable so that both ends of the cable are pulled into fiber head. 2. After the cable is pulled and any lenses are set, seal the conduit around the cable with RTV silicone caulking or similar. This will help debris and water out of the conduit during the rest of the installaiton. D DISASSEMBLE UNIT BASE 1. Be careful not to get debris on or in the unit. 2. Remove the single screw directly under the cap. 3. Rotate cap clockwise to disengage the tabs and lift cap straight up. 4. Disconnect the wire extending from the cap to the chassis. Pull on plug. Do not pull on wires. Note: Do not suspend cap from the wires. 5. Remove two (2) housing lock screws from lower section of body housing. 6. While holding base of unit, lift fixture body housing upward to expose chassis. 7. Remove single screw holding electronic cover plate to expose wiring area. 4 Disconnect switch by detaching wire coupling WIRE COUPLING (MALE) WIRE COUPLING (FEMALE) CHASSIS REMOVE SCREW D Remove single screw, swing open and lift off electronic plate cover To open, loosen cap lock screw and twist cap clockwise. CAP LOCK SCREW HOUSING LOCK SCREW CAP VENTS BODY HOUSING Remove housing lock screws and slide body off of the chassis. Introduction - 150C Installation Manual 2

5 INSTALLATION E MOUNT UNIT 1. Position chassis and base over conduit. 2. Secure base into position. Use stakes provided to secure burial-mounted unit. Use appropriate #10 or 1/4 fasteners for surface-mounted unit. Secure fasteners through holes and slots already provided in the base. F ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS 1. Connect black (hot), white (neutral), and green (ground) wires to electrical service. 2. Inside the unit, wires should be contained below power supply protector plate. E ELECTRIC CONDUIT Position chassis over conduit. FIBER OPTIC CABLE Secure into position with stakes for burial mount or #10 or 1/4 fasteners for surface mount GROUND STAKES NOTE: Adjust settings and perform wiring for controlled features at this time (see Control System & Settings). Introduction - 150C Installation Manual G FIBER HEAD ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION 1. Cut cable length so that cable extends to top of chassis. Note: Save excess fiber for Steps Starting from the end of the cable, expose fiber by stripping and removing approximately 20" of the cable jacket. For cable with a clear jacket, also remove mylar (clear film underneath the jacket) and white PVC center core tube. Caution: Do not cut or scratch fibers. 3. Unscrew PG29 (black compression fitting) from fiber head (white). 4. Feed exposed fiber bundle(s) through PG29 connector assembly. 5. Determine size of fiber reducer insert based on Figure G5 below. 6 INSTALLATION H FIBER HEAD ASSEMBLY INSTALLATION (cont.) 6. Assemble fiber head. Start with smallest insert necessary to accommodate the total number of fibers and build to the largest insert. Tabs on each insert will interlock into slots. 7. Feed fiber from PG29 connector assembly through fiber head. Leave 1/2" of raw fiber extending outside of fiber head. Caution: Do not bend fiber. 8. Screw fiber head onto PG29 connector assembly. 9. Tighten compression nut. If necessary, insert white PVC spacers into back of compression nut to secure fiber bundles and prevent fiber from slipping out of fiber head. 10. Using excess fiber strands from Step 1, cut into 2" lengths and push into front of fiber head to fill any remaining space. 11. Turn on hot knife. Hot knife requires a minimum of three (3) minutes to reach cutting temperature. 12. Place fiber head assembly onto fiber head cutting plate. Using the hot knife, apply even pressure and cut the exposed fibers flush against the top of the cutting plate. Note: Let the heat from the knife cut the fibers. 13. After removing fiber head from the cutting plate, it is now ready to be inserted into the unit. Insert the fiber head into the hole on chassis plate. Rotate clockwise onequarter turn to lock into place. Gbm FIBER HEAD CUTTING PLATE Gbn G7 WITH HOT KNIFE, CUT FLUSH TO CUTTING PLATE I REASSEMBLE UNIT 1. Follow Step D: Disassemble Unit in reverse order to reassemble. Electronic cover must be reinstalled. Wire bundle from cap must be reconnected to the chassis connection. When sliding body housing onto chassis, make sure guides on the body housing are engaged with the edge of chassis. 2. Make sure that the cap is installed in the correct orientation. The large bug guard screen in the cap will align with the larger opening in the body. 3. Slide cap over the body, engaging the tabs in the cap with the body by rotating cap counterclockwise. 4. Reinstall the single screw under the cap. If the screw does not line up with hole in the body, re-inspect the cap installation for proper tab engagement. Refer to Steps 2-3 above. 5. Burial-Mounted unit: Fill hole around base of unit with compactible soil. Soil level should not extend above burial line. Make sure water will not collect at base. 6. Quality note: Conduit ends should be 1/2" above grade level after completing installation. This will help prevent water from collecting inside of conduit runs. 7 CONTROL SYSTEMS & SETTINGS - OPTIONAL WARNING Turn all power off to unit before proceeding. INTEGRATED CONTROL SYSTEM (ICS) UNITS The optional 150C controlled version has an Integrated Control System (ICS). Control features in this system can be combined. For example, the system can synchronize colors for multiple units and can be controlled using X-10 technology (requires X-10 control pad sold separately). Step 1: Locate Control Board The control board is attached to the power supply. This circuit card is mounted perpendicular to the power supply board and has twelve dipswitches on it. Select the color wheel setting as follows: * 4-color - Dipswitch 1 OFF * 8-color - Dipswitch 1 ON BLACK RED BLUE GREEN Step 3: Color Pausing Determine desired Color Pausing for the system. Note: If using multiple units in a synchronous configuration, complete the following steps only for the Master Unit. 1. Set Cap Switch (located on underside of cap) to the Lamp and Color ON position. 2. Using table below, set Dipswitches 2 through 5 for desired color pausing time delay. Determine which unit will be the Master Unit. The Master Unit will control the color pausing for the system as well as manual overrides through the cap mounted switch. 2. For Master Unit, set Dipswitch 6 OFF (default). 3. For all units controlled by Master Unit, set Dipswitch 6 ON. 4. Connect data communication line to the control boards of all systems (see Figure 1). 5. For units that are NOT THE MASTER, cut blue and yellow wires (see Figure 2). 9 CONTROL SYSTEMS & SETTINGS - OPTIONAL Step 5: X-10 Operation This step is only necessary if an X-10 control panel will be used to control color wheel rotation or power to the system. 1. To enable the X-10 feature, set Dipswitch 7 to ON. 2. Using the table below, set Dipswitch 8 to correspond with the X-10 control pad buttons to be used: DIPSWITCH 8 setting KEYPAD BUTTONS OFF (default) 1 & 2 ON 7 & 8 3. Dipswitches 9 through 12 determine the house codes that the control pad will utilize. Refer to the table below to set these dipswitches appropriately. 10 CONTROL SYSTEMS & SETTINGS - OPTIONAL EXTERNAL AUTO CONTROL SYSTEM External Auto Control Systems (i.e. Jandy AquaLink, Compool, Aquadyne, etc.) can be used with both the controlled (ICS) and non-controlled SV350T versions. Wiring for power to the unit should be provided through the external auto controller. Using an External Auto Control System with a Controlled (ICS) Unit An External Auto Control can be used with both synchronous systems and individual units. Individual Units 1. Select Color Pause feature. See Step 3: Color Pausing under Integrated Contol System (ICS) Units. 2. Use the wiring diagram (Figure 3) for the Master and make appropriate connections to the Auto Control. Synchronous Systems 1. Follow instruction in Step 4: Synchronous of Integrated Control System (ICS) for appropriate setting of Dipswitch Use the wiring diagram (Figure 3) for the Auto Control Master and make appropriate connections to the Auto Control. 3. Use the wiring diagram (Figure 2) for the Slaves and make the appropriate connections to the Master. Using an External Auto Control System with a Non-Controlled Unit An external auto control system can be used on a non-controlled unit to control power and to start and stop the color wheel. Rotational speed cannot be changed (the default is 5 seconds or 3RPM for 4-color wheels and 7.5 seconds or 1RPM for 8-color wheels). 1. Locate and cut the yellow wire loop (located in the wiring compartment below the power supply). 2. Run each leg of this loop through a contact relay on the external auto controller. NOTE: DO NOT SUPPLY POWER TO THE YELLOW WIRES. They only require a contact relay. 3. Make sure the Cap Switch (located on underside of cap) is in the Lamp and Color ON positions for both control of the power and color rotation. Control Systems & Settings - 150C Installation Manual 8

12 GENERAL MAINTENANCE & OPERATION GENERAL OPERATION The lamp in this unit may take up to 30 seconds to reach full intensity. The operation switch on all units is located on the underside of the cap. The switch has three (3) positions that match functions listed in the table below. Postion # Function 1 Unit is Off 2 Lamp On, Color Wheel Rotation Off 3 Lamp and Color Wheel Rotation On Standard Units Operate unit based on table above. 0 To open, remove cap lock screw and twist cap clockwise. CAP LOCK SCREW VENTS Controlled Systems Refer to table above for basic operation of unit. Additional features of controlled systems are operated based on the following information. Color Wheel Rotation: Duration that unit displays each color can be changed (see Control Systems & Settings) Synchronized Multiple Units: Color wheels can be manually stopped by switching rotation switch off on master unit. This will stop color rotation on all units. Refer to Control Systems for designation of master unit. MAINTENANCE Other than lamp replacement, there are no user-serviceable components. Light source should be returned to place of purchase for servicing. Cleaning glass filter and color wheel. Use lens paper and any glass cleaner product. Lamp Replacement 1. Follow Steps 1-4 under Step D: Disassemble Unit. 2. Loosen single screw that holds lamp shield. Do not remove screw Lift shield and pull out. 4. Push lever arm up and remove old bulb. 5. Push lever arm down and then install new bulb. 6. Make sure bulb is securely seated in socket. 7. Replace lamp shield. Lamp shield must be replaced for proper operation. 8. Follow Steps 1-4 under Step D: Disassemble Unit in reverse order. Note: Silicon bead added to lamp for transportation only. Do not need when replacing lamp. 13 TROUBLESHOOTING NOTE: If any disassembly of unit is needed, shut off power before disassembling. Any troubleshooting not listed below should be done by a trained SUPERVISION representative or warranty could be voided. After following each step, if unit will still not operate properly, contact your SUPERVISION representative. Unit will not operate: 1. Allow 30 seconds for lamp to reach full intensity. 2. Optional ICS units: If SWITCH 7 is ON for X-10 operation, start unit with X-10 control pad. 3. Make sure illuminator is wired properly. 4. Make sure the power switch on the cap is in the ON position. 5. Check for any obstructions in the fan. 6. Turn power OFF, then back ON. Lamp turns itself on and off: 1. Check for any obstruction in the fan. Lamp will not light, but the fan is on: 1. Allow 30 seconds for lamp to reach full intensity. 2. Check bulb connection. 3. If lamp still doesn't operate, replace lamp (see Maintenance) Troubleshooting - 150C Installation Manual Unit works but does not change color: 1. For controlled units, check the delay settings. Delay option could pause up to 112 minutes. 2. Make sure the color wheel switch on the cap is in the ON position. 3. Check for any color wheel obstructions. 4. Check and see if the color wheel nut is on tight. 5. Check to see if fiber head fibers are touching color wheel. Intensity dims over a period of time: 1. Remove fiber head and inspect fibers for a flush cut at the end of the fiber head. 2. Make sure glass filter and color wheel are clean (see Maintenance). 3. Check to see if fiber head is inserted all the way into the mounting plate. 4. Check to see if fan is working properly. 5. Make sure fiber cable exits straight out the light source without excessive bending. 6. Check fibers for melting or discoloring in the end of fiber head. (Typical cause: improper ventilation) Unit melts fiber at the fiber head: 1. Check location of light source for proper ventilation requirements. 2. Check if fan is working properly. 3. Check for obstructions at air vents. (located on underside) 4. Check for contaminants on top of the fiber head. 5. Verify all jackets and mylar were properly removed. 6. Verify fiber is flush or slightly raised (1/8 ) to end of fiber head. 11 Water is entering into the unit: 1. Verify unit is not in low-lying area. 2. Verify unit is mounted vertically.

14 LIMITED WARRANTY SUPERVISION warranties its products, excluding lamps, to be free from defects in material and/or workmanship, under normal use, conditions and service, for a period of ONE YEAR from the date of original purchase. In the event of a defect in material or workmanship during warranty period, SUPERVISION will repair or replace (at its discretion) its products under the conditions of the Warranty. SUPERVISION will do so at its expense for the materials but not for shipping. THIS REMEDY IS THE SOLE AND EXCLUSIVE REMEDY FOR ANY FOR AND ALL CLAIMS RELATING TO ANY BREACH OF WAR- RANTY BY SUPERVISION. LIMITATIONS, EXCLUSIONS AND OTHER RIGHTS: 1. Except as provided herein, SUPERVISION makes no other warranties, express or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose, at all such warranties are expressly disclaimed. Some states do not allow the exclusion of an implied warranty, so the above exclusion may not apply to you. 2. SUPERVISION is not responsible for defects or malfunctions in and/or damage to lighting systems where a sale is specifically made without warranty. In such sales the disclaimers or warranty and liability; set forth above, shall continue to apply. 3. The Warranty covers normal consumer use and does not cover damage which occurs in shipment or damage or failure which results from alteration, accident, theft, misuse, abuse, abnormal use, negligent installation, improper maintenance or where adequate care has not been taken to prevent damage to the Lighting System. 4. THIS WARRANTY GIVES YOU SPECIFIC LEGAL RIGHTS, AND YOU MAY ALSO HAVE OTHER RIGHTS WHICH VARY FROM STATE TO STATE.
