6 Lumilum LED Lighting vs. Other Lighting Alternatives? LED lights reduce energy costs as they use 75% or less energy than incandescent lighting. Over time, LED lighting will save the consumer on operating expenses. LEDs produce very little heat output and are a great way to reduce cooling costs. The cost of maintaining an LED light is considerably lower than traditional lighting, with fewer bulb replacements and disposals. LEDs also offer a greener disposal method as they do not contaminate the environment with mercury. LED lasts 35 to 50 times longer than incandescent lighting and about 2 to 5 times longer than fluorescent lighting. LEDs offer a life cycle that can last up to 100,000+ hours. Unlike other lighting alternatives, LEDs are made to be durable, long lasting because they won't break like a traditional bulb. 7 Over the course of history, the way we use light has changed drastically. With so many rapidly ever changing technological advances, we have now shifted into a more Green society. Consumers are looking to save more energy and lower their monthly power consumption. In the lighting business, we are striving to enhance light intensity in order to create a brighter light at a minimal cost. Artificial light cannot reproduce the intenisty of light that the sun emits. Therefore, artificial light must be analyzed in the same way as natural light which is through the spectral power distribution (SPD) curve. The SPD describes the flux of radiant energy per unit area across the entire visible spectrum. Take candle light for example, one of the first initial light sources used in history with a 1900K, appearing orange in color in the spectrum. On the other hand, a CFL Daylight bulb with a 5500K will appear much brighter and vivid but, emits a whiter and bluer shade of light found in the spectrum. CFL bulbs use a combination of light with spikes of power strategically placed across the spectrum to create a specific color temperature. Incandescent bulbs achieve their temperature by emitting light over a smooth curve, with the balance tilted toward yellow and red. LED lights on the other hand have been so technologically developed that one can get a very high lumen output while using significantly less energy. LED lighting works by bringing together positive and negative currents. This creates a charge that causes energy to be released in the form of light. The result is a fast source of light that is reliable, rapid-working and dimmable.

9 LINE VOLTAGE LED STRIP LIGHT SERIES SINGLE COLOR / 120V DIMMABLE This Line Voltage (120V) LED Strip Light requires no power adapters or drivers, instead it uses a rectifier that converts AC into DC Current. The light source in the LED strip consists of 3,300 equally distributed high brightness SMD 5050 chips per 164ft. spool which come in incremental segments of 12 inches (1ft). This Single Color LED Strip Light is dimmable, using conventional dimmers. The entire 164ft. of this high voltage strip can be used without the risk of voltage drop. This product is rated for indoor and outdoor uses. This strip can be installed using four alternative methods: (See Installation Diagram page for details). The color changing possibilities are endless with over 16 million color variations all of which can be selected by using one of our Lumilum DMX Decoder / Controllers. DMX Decoders are compatible with DMX Control Panels. (See accessories page for more details). The colors and intensity on this RGB LED Strip Light can be changed and modified by using a DMX Controller. LED fixtures are built with highly sensitive electronic components that are fed by electricity, which needs to be delivered very precisely to achieve a constant current at the LED chip level. In some cases, the power source (driver or adapter) uses constant voltage to achieve this purpose. This is mainly what makes LEDs so very different from all other lighting forms. We have selected the precise type of power source for each of our models, so your final decision should be based only on the location (indoor or outdoor) and the distance covered by your lighting project (when using strip lights). 82 LOW VOLTAGE LED STRIP LIGHT SERIES POWER SOURCES / MAGNETIC DIMMABLE TRANSFORMERS MAGNETIC DIMMABLE TRANSFORMER Our dimmable magnetic transformers are compatible with Lumilum 24V LED Strip Lights and Lumilum Ultra Flat LED Cabinet Lighting Series. The transformer can be operated with a low voltage wall mounted dimmer that is available at any hardware store. There are no minimum load requirements when used with a dimmer. The transformers cause no flicker or any of the other side effects that can result from a lack of synchronization between voltage mode drivers and PWM low voltage drivers in the light fitting. Fully compatible with low voltage dimmers, in contrast to voltage mode drivers that balance the voltage in the system and prevent the dimmer from working. The transformers are 15% more efficient, due to the avoidance of unnecessary double conversion in the circuitry. They operate at a perfect 60Hz sinus wave, therefore they produce no radio frequency interference whatsoever.
