2 GETTING STARTED When you first receive your safe you will need to open the door with the key in order to install. A battery is included and is located in the top of the Styrofoam packaging. NOTE: This key has also be provided in case the batteries run low. If you lose your key, you may purchase a replacement key by referencing the serial number located on the front of the door. See section regarding replacement keys for further information. To open the safe, insert key into lock and turn counter clockwise until the holster compartment automatically opens. INSTALLING THE BATTERY NOTE: Leave the key in the lock while you install the batteries. This safe uses 4 AAA alkaline batteries. Under normal use the batteries will last about a year. NOTE: If the batteries are low the indicator light will flash blue when you start scanning. Replace with 4 new AAA alkaline batteries as shown. Locate the battery compartment at the very back of the top of the safe, slide off the battery cover. To access the battery compartment you will need to open the holster compartment completely. Battery Cover Battery At the very back of the compartment you will see two L shaped brackets. Rotate the L brackets towards the top of the safe, so they are released from the guides Then squeeze the two brackets together so they almost meet - this will immediately release the compartment from the sides of the safe body as shown in figure 1. Let the holster compartment open all the way. Rotate the L brackets back so they are flat against the back of the holster compartment as shown in figure 2. Inside safe 4 1

3 RECORDING FINGERPRINTS When you first receive your safe there are no recorded fingerprints. For security you must record a fingerprint. Failure to do so will compromise the safety and security of the safe. You can record up to 20 different fingerprints for opening the safe. To record a fingerprint, first press the Reset Button on the inside of the safe. The scanner will turn blue with two beeps (if the sound is turned on) and the blue light flashes twice, you will then record the same finger three times as follows: 1. Press the scanner with the selected finger until there is one beep (if the sound is turned on) and the green light flashes once. Lift your finger off the scanner. 2. Press the scanner for a second time with the same finger (holding the finger in a slightly different position) until there is one beep (if the sound is turned on) and the green light flashes once. Lift your finger off the scanner. 3. Press the scanner for a third time with the same finger (holding the finger in a slightly different position) until there are two beeps (if the sound is turned on) and the green light flashes twice. Lift your finger off the scanner. Reset Button 3 Inside safe CLOSING THE SAFE NOTE: Reset button is only accessible when the locking mechanism is in the un-locked position. Lift up the up the holster compartment until the L shaped brackets clear the inside of the frame. Rotate the L bracket back so they point to the top of the safe and then push them out towards the safe body which will hold the holster compartment up. Then rotate the L brackets back into the guides on the back of the holster compartment. Close the compartment and hold it closed until the green light goes on and the unit beeps. Your fingerprint is now recorded. If the red light flashes three times with three beeps (if the sound is turned on) your fingerprint did not get recorded and you will have to start over. If you try entering more than 20 fingerprints, the red light will flash 5 times and there will be 5 beeps (if the sound is turned on). For convenience, record several different fingers and record the most used finger several times. Position finger on scanner as shown below. NOTE: When closing the safe with a pistol in the holster compartment, make sure the pistol does not interfere with the frame of the safe. NOTE: To verify your fingerprint the locking mechanism must be in the locked position.

4 OPENING THE SAFE USING YOUR FINGERPRINT To open the safe, press the scanner with a recorded finger. The blue light will come on with one beep (if the sound is turned on) and the scan will begin. If the green light flashes twice with 2 beeps (if the sound is turned on), the scan has been accepted and the door will open. If the red light flashes once, the scanner did not read your fingerprint and you must try again. If the red light flashes 3 times, the scanner read your fingerprint and did not accept it. If there are 3 rejected scans, where your fingerprint was read, and the red light flashes 5 times with 5 beeps (if the sound is turned on), you will have an automatic lockout for 60 seconds before you can try a scan again. The safe will beep one time (if the sound is turned on) and the green light will flash once when the lockout period is over. If there is 1 more rejected scan where your fingerprint was read and the red light flashes 5 times with 5 beeps (if the sound is turned on), you will have an automatic lockout for 5 minutes before you can try a scan again. The safe will beep one time (if the sound is turned on) and the green light will flash once when the lockout period is over. To close the safe, push the door closed until locked. CLEARING THE MEMORY To clear the memory of all recorded fingerprints, locate the reset button on the inside of the safe and press this button for about 5 seconds until the green light flashes 10 times with 10 beeps (if the sound is turned on). All recorded scans will be erased. NOTE: For security you must record a fingerprint. Failure to do so will compromise the safety and security of the safe. REMOVING THE SAFE FROM THE MOUNTING BRACKET Open the holster compartment as described in the Installing the Battery section. When the holster compartment has been released from the frame and the L brackets have been rotated so they are flat against the back of the holster compartment, locate 2 nuts which are located in the bottom of the safe body. Remove the 2 nuts and washers using your fingers and lift the safe off the tabs in the back of the sleeve. There are some securing tabs on the mounting sleeve that guide the back of the safe into position - you will need to make sure you have maneuvered the safe out of these tabs. Thumb nuts TURNING THE SOUND OFF/ON Your safe comes with the beep sound turned on. To turn the sound off, press the scanner with a recorded fingerprint for 10 seconds until the green light flashes twice. To turn the sound on, press the scanner with a recorded fingerprint until you hear two beeps and the green light flashes twice. Mounting Bracket

5 SELECTING A LOCATION The safe must be secured to the mounting bracket. The safe installed in the mounting bracket must be mounted to a wall or solid surface. For optimal safety and security, the safe should be installed in an isolated, dry and secure area. THE SAFE SHOULD ALWAYS BE KEPT OUT OF THE REACH OF CHILDREN. SECURING THE SAFE NOTE: This safe must always be secured in the mounting bracket and mounted to a wall or solid surface. Failure to do so will compromise the safety and security of the safe. Secure the mounting bracket to wall studs using the pre-drilled mounting holes in the bracket and hardware provided. NOTE ON LOCKING THE SAFE: The safe needs to be in an upright position, as shown in figure 3, for the locking mechanism to function properly. Failure to mount the safe in the correct upright position will compromise the safety and security of the safe. NOTE: The mounting bracket must be secured to a wall stud on one side of the bracket in the top and bottom holes so that it is anchored to the wall stud in two locations. Wall anchors should be used on the other side. The bracket should be secured in 4 locations. Use the hardware provided or consult your hardware retailer for fastening hardware for your particular mounting surfaces. After the mounting bracket is secured you must secure the safe to the bracket to insure the optimal safety and security of the safe. Place the mounting bracket in the desired location and mark the mounting holes to be used with a pencil. Move the mounting bracket and drill the pilot holes for the screws. For mounting to a wall stud, drill a 3/16 diameter pilot hole and attach the bracket using the Lag screws and washers. Place the safe back into the mounting bracket and replace the 2 thumb nuts and washers. Secure the holster compartment in place, following the steps in Closing The Safe section of these instructions.
