1 Fastest piece of Real Estate in Tennessee 2016 Late Model Sportsman Revised 1/27/16 These rules are meant to allow older fabricated perimeter chassis and 2015 Sportsman Cars to compete together while creating a level playing field for the different type of vehicles represented here. The lap time bench mark for the new LATE MODEL SPORTSMAN class will be the 2015 legal Sportsman cars lap times. This is an effort to keep the 2015 Sportsman racers from having to change anything major on their cars to be competitive with the Tubular chassis cars. These rules are an attempt to combine fabricated Perimeter chassis cars with the HRS 2015 Sportsman Cars In the event the ownership feel the rules are obviously allowing the fabricated chassis cars a advantage changes in rules will be made. The goal is to have both type chassis cars winning races and running competitively. The bench mark lap times will be based off the 2015 Sportsman legal cars. HRS Officials retain the right to determine eligibility. NOTICE: All equipment is subject to the approval of HRS officials. No equipment will be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through the inspection process unobserved. Any equipment which does not conform to specifications or tolerances contained in this rulebook or in the appropriate Manuals, will not be eligible for approval. HRS reserves the right to adjust the total weight and or adjust left side weight when deemed necessary for equal competition purposes. NOTE: All cars must comply with the rules set forth by the Highland Rim Speedway rule book and reference manuals used in the inspection process. All cars and car parts are subject to HRS technical inspection processes. HRS is not required to follow any other sanctioning bodies or manufacturers guide lines in its inspection process. This division being a new undertaking we will constantly be looking and evaluating different chassis combinations so to make this division an inclusive division for all perimeter chassis.

2 RULE BOOK DISCLAIMER The rules and/or regulations set forth herein are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the condition of all events, and by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM PUBLICATIONS OF OR COMPLIANCE WITH THESE RULES AND OR REGULATIONS. They are intended as a guide for the conduct of the sport and are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participant, spectator, or official. The race director shall be empowered to permit reasonable and appropriate deviation from any of the specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his/her opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. NO EXPRESSED OR IMPLIED WARRANTY OF SAFETY SHALL RESULT FROM SUCH ALTERCATION OF SPECIFICATIONS. Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. Their decision is final. ENTERTAINMENT VALUE 2016 Tighter Field, More Passing, More Competition, More Winners Never forget we are in the entertainment business we just happen to be using race cars to entertain our fans. Being in the entertainment business and the average fan likes close wheel to wheel racing action no average fan comes to see one car run off with the race. We will use whatever means we feel is necessary to make this a fair playing field even down to using Restrictor plates Race Procedures for Race Winners. Each race the winner from the previous race will start behind all cars who qualify, as long as they make an attempt to qualify. If the winner from the previous week does not attempt to qualify, he will be placed at the rear of the field. Once a driver WINS 3 feature races in a single season they will start no better than 11th place or in front of the Previous race winner in all future races for the season. Once at least a second person has won 3 features all drivers having won 3 features or more will draw to see who starts in the 11 th, 12 th, 13 th positions for that night. Final eligibility for ALL drivers will be at the track s discretion. Section 1: Safety Equipment: Rules apply at all times car is on track Snell rated SA2000, SA2005, SA2010, or SA2015 helmet required. Roll bar padding required in driver compartment. Recommended: Fire Retardant padding. SFI-approved full fire suit required. Fire Retardant gloves, and neck brace (or head and neck restraint) required. Recommended: Fire retardant shoes and on board fire extinguisher system. Recommended: Fire Retardant head sock and underwear. Driver s side window net required, minimum 16 inch x 20 inch ribbon or mesh style, and must be mounted to roll cage so latch is at top front of window. Minimum three inch (two inch step in belts may

3 be used with head restraint system) wide SFI-approved four point system required must be mounted securely to main roll cage. Recommended: Five point safety belt assembly. Recommended: Safety belts no more than two years old. Kill switch required within easy reach of driver and must be clearly marked OFF and ON 1.2 Racing Seat. Aluminum High Back seats only, must be bolted in with.0375 inch bolts. 1.3 Mirrors. Wink mirrors and wide angle mirrors are permitted. 1.4 Fuel Cells. Fuel Cell Mandatory. Maximum size 22 gallon. Must be mounted in a 20 gauge steel fuel cell container in a safe and approved manner meaning securely strapped by placing two (2) straps longwise and two (2) straps crosswise around steel container that fuel cell is in and bolting straps to trunk floor. Straps minimum 1/8 x 1 inch thickness in width. Must be mounted in the center. Must have a fuel cell guard bar made from 1.75 x.083 min. and be 1 lower than the fuel cell container. All cells must have a rollover valve. 15 Fuel Cell Container. Fuel cell must be in steel fuel cell container surrounded by a 1 x wall thickness steel tubing frame. Fuel cells must have working rollover valve. 1.6 Fuel Cell Bar fuel cell bar must be installed behind fuel cell and must be 1 lower than fuel cell container. 1.7 Fuel Cell Height. Bottom of fuel cell 20 gage steel container must be a minimum of 8 off ground. Recommended fuel cell height Fuel. Highland Rim Fuel. May be required to purchase a specific amount of fuel. 1.9 Fuel additives. No Oxygen enhancing fuel additives Fuel Line. Fuel line may be run under car, but must be higher than lowest point of the frame and securely attached. Fuel line may be run through car from fuel cell, but must be inside a one piece steel pipe and pipe must extend a minimum of 1 out from front and rear firewalls Drive Shaft Loops. Drive shaft loops required. 2 drive shaft safety loops made of flat steel, ¼ x 2 minimum size) required. Drive shaft loops should be mounted 12 from each end of the drive shaft to prevent drive shaft from falling onto track in case of u- joint failure; and may help prevent drive shaft from coming through floorboard in case of failure White Drive Shafts. All drive shafts must be painted white. 1/8 scatter shield surrounding drive shaft highly recommended Quick Release Steering Wheel. Aftermarket quick release steering wheel hubs are legal. Recommend pinless type with no plastic inner components. Section 2: Bodies & Interiors 2.1 Visiting Cars. Any visiting cars with Bodies that don't meet our guidelines may be penalized with weight or restrictor plates in order to compete.

4 2.2 Identification. All cars in this division must park in designated area and each car must have LS in 4 tall in Bold white letters on top passenger side windshield area. Accurate total weight, engine type, and left side max also required in 1 letters 2.3 Body Styles. NO Station wagon or El Camino type. All bodies must be Stock Appearing and approved by tech. 2.4 Bodies. May be stock OEM bodies or approved aftermarket type stock appearing / mounted with manufacturer s dimensions. No flat shelf/dirt style bodies allowed. LMSC, NGB, style bodies are legal for this division. Sportsman style Camaro, Mustang and Challenger bodies with plastic quarter panels and fenders are also approved for this division with no weight penalty. All Bodies must fit approved manufacturers guidelines. All bodies must be Stock appearing and have track approved front & rear bumper covers. 2.4a Roof Height Minimum roof height 48. No slanting of roofs. 2.5 Wheelbase. Minimum of 105 Wheelbase. No more than 1 difference side to side. 2.6 Stock Appearing. All body panels must look stock appearing. Legal replacement metal or fiberglass body panels must meet stock dimensions and or approved aftermarket body manufacturers dimensions guideline charts. 2.7 Fiberglass Hoods Minimum of six (6) hood pins required on hoods. 2.8 Nose Height. Minimum nose height Aerodynamic Devices. No aerodynamic improving devices such as panning under the nose or rear of the car etc Floor Pan. Stock or fabricated 2.11 Firewall/Interior. Fabricated interior allowed. Standard asphalt Late Model type interior is legal. Recommend that all firewall and interior panels be 22 guage Steel. Right side cockpit interior may come up 10 and then go at an angle to the top bar of main cage or go straight across. (Interior cockpit cannot be dirt style interior) 2.12 Muffler Installation. May raise or remove section of floor pan on right side of car for clearance to install large style mufflers (ex. Brezenski / Howe). Must be boxed in with sheet metal Firewall Holes. Any holes in firewall must be sealed with steel Sealed Driver s Compartment. Driver's compartment must be completely sealed from trunk and rear wheel wells Wheel Wells. Wheel wells should be neatly trimmed Spoiler. Rear spoilers are mandatory. Must be mounted on trailing edge of rear bumper cover Spoiler Height. Spoiler may not exceed six (6.5) inches in total height. Maximum width Fiberglass, Aluminum and Steel Stock appearing bodies are allowed. All body panels are subjected to approval by division inspector Replacement Panels. Replacement Aluminum or Steel sides on factory bodies are legal Windshields. Front and rear windshields mandatory. Recommended is 1/8 min. Lexan / polycarbonate (FRONT) windshield with a minimum of three (3) center braces. Rear window must be minimum.090 Lexan / Polycarbonate material with minimum 2 window braces. No Plexiglass.

5 2.21 Vent Windows. Vent window not to exceed twelve (12) inches along top of door and must continue 90 degrees upward from that point. NACA ducts for driver fresh air is allowed Section 3: Roll Bars 3.1 Roll Cage. Must have a minimum 6 point roll cage with minimum 3 door bars in driver s side 2 in passenger side with diagonal bar behind the driver. All roll cage tubing must be 1 ¾ OD.090 wall thickness. Gussets required in all left door bars 3.2 Cage Must Be Approved. All cages must be style as set forth in the rulebook and approved for workmanship and design. 3.3 Driver Responsible. Driver is responsible for installation, construction and workmanship of roll cage. 3.4 Roll Bars. Round steel 1 3/4 x.083 minimum, roll bars are mandatory, roll bars must be welded. 3.5 Door Bars. Minimum of four (4) horizontal door bars on the right and left side of car. 3.6 Window Width. The distance between the A post and B post may not be greater than 44 inches. 3.7 Fuel Cell Bar. Rear fuel cell bar /protection hoop mandatory. Minimum 1 below cell. 3.8 Gusset Plate. Gusset plates at butt welds in driver's compartment required. Section 4: Battery & Electrical System 4.1 Battery Location. Battery may be moved to driver s compartment behind driver s seat. Must be securely mounted in place and in an approved sealed & vented container vented to the outside of the car with a hose. Battery location must be approved by Competition Director. 4.2 Working Master Switch. Must have working emergency cut-off master switch within reach of driver & officials V System. 12 Volt System ONLY. 4.4 Starters. Stock style starters only. 4.5 Alternators. The alternator system, when used, must be mounted to front of the engine in the standard location and must not exceed 14.9 volt single wire system. Section 5: Communications 5.1 Radios. Radios are legal in this division. Section 6: Cooling Systems 6.1 Radiator. Any metal stock production or racing radiators permitted in stock location. 6.2 Radiator Fan Shroud. Fan must have a 180-degree shroud covering the top 50% of the fan. 6.3 Operational Overflow and Exit Tube. Mandatory and operational radiator overflow metal catch can and exit tube installed ahead of firewall. 6.4 Electric Fans. Electric fans permitted. 6.5 Aero Under Panning. NO under panning.

6 6.6 Fans. All fans underneath the engine compartment must draw air through the lower portion of nose piece. 6.7 Duct Work. Duct work sides cannot be lower than center piece of duct work. 6.8 Duct work width. No wider than molded radiator opening in plastic nose. Duct work should be no wider than molded opening in plastic nose. 6.9 Aluminum Water Pumps. Aluminum water pumps are allowed Antifreeze. No antifreeze allowed at any time, $ fine. Section 7: Suspension & Frame 7.1 Ground Clearance. Suspension and frame, at any point of frame rail, must maintain an absolute minimum ground clearance of five (5 ). Min. Frame height. Weight boxes welded to frame becomes part of the frame, and will be checked as frame height. 7.2 Dragging Exhaust. Dragging exhaust systems will result in immediate black flag. Section 8: Weight 8.1 Right to Alter Weight Limits. The following weights are a starting point for the New Late Model Sportsman Class. This class will be based around the performance time of the HRS 2015 Sportsman Car. As we attempt to create this new division to allow quick changes, and different suspension packages our ultimate goal is to create a level playing field for everyone. If it s obvious the rules set forth are have not created a level playing field for the 2015 Sportsman cars or the tubular chassis cars the weights and percentages will be adjusted race to race if needed until we feel we have a level playing field for both type cars. Management reserves the right to adjust Left side & Rear weight percentages and total weight to keep a level playing field. Carburetors & restrictor plates may also be used to level the playing field. Weight may be added to non-conforming cars at Tracks Discretion. 8.2 Weight. Minimum weights per chassis combo All weights are after the race 8.3 Complete Stock Factory Chassis (Adjustable 4 link) 56.0% Left 3100 lbs Stock Factory Chassis with 3 link or truck arm suspension 55.0% Left 3125 lbs To be considered a stock factory chassis you must also use stock GM type spindles GM type steering box. The following chassis s should be True Perimeter TYPE chassis with full roll cages and doors bars both sides. 8.4 Stock Clip with Fabricated Perimeter Chassis w/ 3 link or truck arm 54.5% Left 3150 lbs 8.5 All Fabricated Tubular Perimeter Chassis w/ 3 link or truck arms 54.5% Left 3175 lbs

Weight boxes are optional, constructed of minimum of 3 x 3 x.120 square. Steel tubing and must be welded completely to frame Lead. All weight must be painted white or flouresant color with car number written clearly in black or red ink or paint. Any driver that looses lead from a car will be fined $ Weight cannot be attached to any moveable suspension components. Section 9: Frames & Unibody 9.0 Full Perimeter tube frames and full tube with stock front clips are legal with weight penalties see Section Rear Frame Rails. Minimum of 2 x 3 box tubing.083 minimum wall thickness 9.2 Main Frame Rails Minimum of 2 x 3 box tubing.095 minimum wall thickness 9.3 NO Straight Rail. All Chassis must be Full Perimeter Chassis & Full Perimeter cage. Section 10: Suspension 10.0 Limiting Travel. No travel limiting devices, No Coil Binding, No Bump Stops. When car is jacked up the suspension must drop freely at least Front Suspension. Any type upper control arms. Ball Joints. Top or bottom may be Standard or Adjustable 10.2 Tie Rod Ends may be stock, adjustable or use heim joints to make adjusting bump easier 10.3 Lower Control Arms. OEM factory type Lower control arms or fabricated Tread Width. Maximum tread with 65 measurement center to center of tires at spindle height. 73 outside of wheel to outside of wheel Front Shock Location. Front shock location may be changed from stock location Aftermarket Sway Bars. Prebent (Howe type) and 3-piece are both allowed. 1 1/4 (1.25 ) is the Maximum Outside diameter. No rear sway bars Chains, bolts or heim joints may be used in sway bar hookups Minimum Spring Rates Conventional Front Springs. Engine must be within ½ of center of the frame rails Setback. Maximum engine set back will the #1 spark plug (front left plug) No further back than the wedge bolt Ommited 1/27/ Restrictor Plates may be used to even competition within the division. The ultimate goal is close competition and a variety of winning drivers and engine and chassis combinations. This will be a work in progress.

9 Section 15: Engine Ground Clearance 15.1 Crank Height. A minimum crank to ground height of 11 (min) measured from the center of the harmonic balancer bolt. Section 16: Engine Displacement 16.1 Displacement. Ford and Chevy may not exceed 362cid. Chrysler may not exceed 364cid Overbore. Overbore of.060 maximum. Section 17: Engine Block 17.1 Block. Must be of standard factory production with standard external measurements in all respects Composite & Aluminum Blocks. No composite or aluminum blocks. Section 18: Crate Engines 18.1 Approved Engine. GM 602 Crate engine is the approved crate Modifications. No modifications to the 602 crate engines. It must pass the GM Yellow Book specs. Section 18A Crate Engine Carburetor 18-A Approved Carburetor. Must run Holley carburetor model #4150, part # CFM 4-barrel. This carburetor must remain stock dimensions in all areas. You may change jets, air bleeds jets and power valves. You may remove choke and shaft. No other modifications of any kind will be considered legal. Carburetor Metering Blocks: Only Holley metering blocks can be used. Surfacing of the metering blocks for improved gasket seal will be permitted. No modifications permitted. Must remain box stock. ********************************* Section 19: Spec Engine Pistons & Rods 19.1 Configuration. Stock or stock configuration flat top 2 or 4 valve relief symmetrical pistons only. Must be.230 to first ring land Deck Height. Piston may be flush with block (Zero Deck Height) Connecting Rods. OEM or steel connecting rods permitted (must be magnetic). No H beam. No polishing of rods Rod Size. Rods much match engine size (example inches on 350 Chevrolet) 19.5 Engine Balancing. May balance engine. Must maintain 1 virgin rod and piston Racing/Lightweight Pistons. No racing or light weight pistons (JE, Ross, race engine etc.)

The bowl area under the valve seat down to the bottom of the valve guide must be the same configuration as far as the shape and finish as it was from the manufacturer. Surfaces and / or edges where the cutter stone has touched must not be polished.

No air directional surfaces on any of the valve surfaces. Valve stems must have a minimum diameter of 11/32 inch. The valve stem diameter may be undercut to a minimum of.302 in the area between the base of the valve guide and the back of the valve face. No offset rocker arms except for the Ford #M6049N351 cylinder head (intake only) 13. All Dodge and Chrysler model cars may mill the existing rocker arm single shaft support towers down and install mounting plate that permits the rocker arms for a single cylinder to be mounted from the top for easy removal. 14. Tech must approve all aftermarket rocker arm assemblies 15. Valve covers must be made of aluminum or steel. 16. Rules 16 thru 19 Omitted 1/27/ INTAKE MANIFOLD Eligible manifolds include Edelbrock Performer: Chevrolet #2101 Ford #2181 Chrysler #7176 Ford #M-9424-C358 Chrysler #P AB These manifolds must remain as manufactured. Approved manufacturers identification in the form of cast in part numbers must remain unaltered on the manifold. No Port matching. No flow work. Manifolds must not be painted or coated. Only one (1) standard flat gasket, a maximum of compressed thickness of.075 inches, may be used between the cylinder head and intake manifold. No metal or Bakelite spacers. All Edelbrock part numbers are Edelbrock Performer Series intake manifolds. Older design manifolds with the same part numbers are not permitted. Intake manifold center rib may be machined a minimum of 1/8 inch in width and ½ down divider this is the only machine work permitted on the intake must be tapered. No Grinding or Polishing. Section 27: Carburetor Spacers, Gaskets & Mounting 27.1 Adapter Plate. Adapter plate must be made of aluminum. No composite or phenolic spacers Carburetor Gasket. Carburetor gasket, maximum of.060, must be pliable paper gasket material Spacers. One (1) inch maximum spacer allowed between air cleaner bottom and carburetor for linkage clearance issue only Return Springs. Recommended minimum of two (2) return springs (opposing each other).

Spec engines only a 1 piece, solid, aluminum carburetor spacer maximum 1 in thickness, must be installed between intake manifold and carburetor. The spacer must be centered on the intake manifold and have two (2) round holes openings located in the center that match the base of the carburetor opposite side may be tapered Crate Engine Spacer. 1-1 inch tall aluminum spacer. Must have holes on at least 1 side, opposite side may be tapered. Section 28: Air Intake 28.1 Cold Air Boxes. Cold air boxes are permitted Element. Only one air cleaner element permitted with a 16 max diameter. No flow through tops Alterations. No addition of material, shielding or alterations of air flow to air cleaner Air Dams & Deflectors. No air dams or deflectors permitted You may take air off the back of the windshield to the carburetor cold air box or cut a Hole in the hood. Recommended holes size 2.5 x 20 Section 29: Fuel Systems 29.1 Fuel Cell. Racing fuel cells are mandatory, bladder type cells are highly recommended Fuel Cell Size. Maximum 22-gallon cells with fuel cell roll over valves Loop Bars. Loop bar mandatory behind fuel cell. Should extend a minimum 1 below the cell Fuel Cell Mount. Two (2) sections of box tubing may also tie the rear frame rails together and act as a fuel cell mount Fuel Cell Location. Fuel cells must be in trunk compartment, equal distance between frame rails and center line of car Fuel Cell Clearance. Bottom of fuel cell container must have a min ground clearance of Fuel Pump. Stock type mechanical fuel pump only, in stock location. No electric fuel pumps allowed Additional Reservoirs, Pressure Equalizing Systems, Fuel Coolers. No additional fuel reservoir, pressure equalizing systems, or fuel cooling devices allowed. Section 30: Ignition System 30.1 Approved Ignition. HEI, MSD or Crane boxes. 30.1a Rev Limiters are approved

You must have an exhaust pipe muffler system that muffles the sound to 99 or less. City of Millersville, Tennessee enforces 100ft. noise ordinance. Failure to comply with ordinance will prevent car from being allowed on track Exhaust Noise Weight break. Any Car in this division registering 85 DBA or 100ft will be able to deduct 25 lbs Headers. Chassis Type Economy max. header (1-5/8 OD) tubes. Headers. Over the top headers must add 50 pounds Flexible Pipes. No flexible pipes permitted anywhere or anytime Header Flange. Wheel offset may not exceed a maximum of 1 of each other Bleeder Valves. No bleeder valves allowed Racing Lugs. 1 OD steel racing lug nuts are required on all aftermarket wheels Tires. 15 x 8 Towel City Retread BLUE Dot tires. This is the 89 compound tire with the oval laying flat with the circumference of the tire. All tires in ALL divisions used at HRS will have (COLD and HOT) MINIMUM Durometer (softness) readings that must be met. According to Towel City Retreads the minimum cold durometer reading on 89 compound. NO RED dot and or Standing up blue dot tires allowed. All Towel City retread tires must be purchased from track and stamped by the track. The blue dots go towards the outside wall. When mounted on the car the left side tires will have Blue Dots located on the inside of tire. On the Right side of the car the Blue Dots are on the outside of tire towards outside wall when on track Tire Soaking. No tire soaking.. Section 38: PROTESTS 38.1 Limits. May protest within 5 positions in front of finishing position. Protesting driver must have run three races prior to protesting Time. Must present completed protest form and protest money to tech official within 10 minutes of car being protested clearing scale pad. Car being protested then has 10 minutes to file and pay to counter protest Top End Protest ($250). Carburetor, Intake, Cylinder Head, Camshaft & Piston Head Configuration Complete Engine Teardown Protest ($550). Top End Protest plus Bore, Stroke, Pistons, Rods & Crankshaft Protest of Transmission ($150.00). Standard Transmission: Gears, Flywheel, Clutch. Automatic Transmission: Gears, Torque Converter 38.6 Carburetor ($100). Protest Carburetor Only Traction Control ($100). Check for Traction Control 38.8 Protest Rear End ($100). Check Rear End Unapproved Parts. Any car protested, and disqualified for unapproved parts will lose all points and monies for that night. Each additional time car is protested and found to have unapproved parts, fine will increase by $50, as well as loss of all points and monies Protest Fee Retention. Track retains 30% of protest fee, no matter the outcome. Section 39: Points

19 39.0 Points Championship We will honor the Champion and the top ten in points in the Late Model Sportsman Division at our 2016 Championship Banquet. Only our Weekly Racing Series Champions (Divisions with 20 plus race dates) are eligible for Championship point money if money is available Driver Changes. Pit Booth must be notified of driver changes other than registered river in writing before races begin. It does not matter whom else you have told; you must notify the pit booth in writing of a driver change before the feature event. Failure to do so may result in points being credited to the wrong driver, and may not be changed All Races Count. All races will count towards point total. No dropping of bad races Points. You must take the green flag in the race to get points Any discrepancy in posted points must be presented in writing to scoring and HRS track owners within 7 days of the event in question.
