1 Thank you for purchasing Cycle Shack s V Max Gen2 Race Exhaust System. Please check with country and local laws before use as this exhaust replaces the OEM catalic converter (CAT) on your motorcycle. NOTE: This exhaust system has been deigned to be used in conjunction with V Max Guru s Raptor re flash. Other add on fuel or ECU conrollers will not allow this system to produce 100% horse power. Lean cylinder conditions could exist with other fuel controllers and could cause engine damage. Please proceed at your own risk. Instructions: 1. You need to remove the rear fender so you can access the Yamaha EXUP module and cables. See photos below: 2. An EXUP Eliminator is recomended to avoid ECU errors. You can usually find this item on ebay for less than $ Just Google EXUP Eliminator and you will find one. This is needed for any aftermarket exhaust that removes the CAT. Item #60, 61 & 62 on the following page shows the EXUP and the cables that need to be removed. 3. Where the harness plugs into the EXUP is where you will install the EXUP Eliminator. 1

Remove the bolt holding the mufflers #51 and remove each muffler, store in a safe place.

Do not take off completely, just loosen Remove both heat shields #56 & 53. Loosen the muffler clamps #42 & 48 on both muflers. Remove the bolt holding the mufflers #51 and remove each muffler, store in a safe place. Loosen the rear clamps bolts on the CAT #32, do not remove, just loosen. Remove bolt #36 at the front of the CAT. This part will not be needed. 10. Remove the EXUP cable cover #34 and disconcect both cables. 11. Remove both covers #20 & 21. 2

3 12. Remove both sides #39 screws that support the CAT to the frame (see below.) 13. By now you should be able to remove the CAT by pulling down and then back off the front two header pipes. 14. With the EXUP and CAT removed, the eliminator installed, you are now ready to install the Raptor. 3

15. Connect the Raptor rear twin tube assembly to the merge collector. Slide the two together and install the stainless steel ¼ 20 bolt and nut and tighten. 16.

18. Postion the two clamp bolts as show in the photo below. 19. Slide up the Raptor on the two rear header down tubes.

Remove the two clamp rings and rear exhaust gaskets (items #29, 30& 31,) (See page 2 of this document) from the CAT. 17. Tighten the two screws on the clamps so they are loose, but do not fall apart. 18. Postion the two clamp bolts as show in the photo below. 19. Slide up the Raptor on the two rear header down tubes. Tighten the two 5mm allen bolts in the clamps so the Raptor does not slide off the rear header tubes. Do not tighten fully yet as you may need to slide up or down the rear pipes. 20. Install the rear 7/16 stainless hex bolt to the collector mounting bracket. Be sure to install the flat washer on the bolt. Do not install the nut at this time as you my need to remove the bolt and adjust as needed for installing the rear 5mm allen bolts that secure the rear tubes to the rear header pipes. 4

(DO NOT TIGHTEN) 22. Slide in the LH conector tube into the collector and let drop on the floor. 23. Insert the RH tube into the collector and the install the ¼ 20 stainless steel bolt. 24. Pulling down on the front header Yamaha tube, insert the Raptor tube over the front header tubes on both sides. 5

NOW, tighten rear clamps on using a 5mm ball end T handled allen wrench or 5mm allen wrench on an extension. 27.

After installing all the front tubes, push up on the system to align the front header tubes straight with engine block and tighten both band clamps. 26. NOW, tighten rear clamps on using a 5mm ball end T handled allen wrench or 5mm allen wrench on an extension. 27. When tightening both front tubes to the Raptor, be sure to slide the tubes on the OEM front pipes all the way. 28. Be sure to move the band clamps to the inside just away from the block and out of the way of the kick stand. Be sure to check kick stand operation before starting to ensure proper clearance. Adjust if needed. 6

Be sure to place some anti seize on the O2 sensor threads.

7 29. Install the 7/16 flat washer and the lock washer with nut to holds the rear collector in place. 30. Tighten all the front header bolts to the front cylinders. 31. Install the O2 sensor. Be sure to place some anti seize on the O2 sensor threads. RE CHECK ALL BOLTS IN 100 MILES AND THEN EVERY 500 TO ENSURE PIPE STAYS SECURE. Race products warranted for workmanship only.
