M2. Primary seat belt laws allow law enforcement officers to ticket a driver for not wearing a seat belt, without any other traffic offense taking place. Do you Massachusetts enacting a primary seat belt law? M3. Do you a ban on hand-held cell phones or mobile devices for drivers in Massachusetts, so that all mobile conversations by the driver in a vehicle would have to be hands-free? M3a. Massachusetts currently requires ignition interlock devices for drunk driving repeat offenders. The majority of teen car crashes occur in the late evening/early morning hours. Currently, nighttime driving restrictions prohibit drivers under the age of 18 from operating a vehicle between 12:30 a.m. and 5:00 a.m., unless they are accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. Would you expanding the nighttime restriction for drivers under the age of 18 to 11:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.? M6. Massachusetts requires license applicants under the age 18 to take an approved driver education program and also requires their parent or legal guardian to attend a 2-hour in-person class about driver education.
