The hoses and valve body are numbered to identify their correct locations. Each hose has an identification number stamped on the cylinder side and on the pump side near the connection point. Corresponding numbers are also stamped on the pump manifold plate to aid in identification. The following chart identifies the hose that supplies fluid to each specific cylinder. Use a small flat-bladed tool to lift the retainer spring flex clip. 2. Do not reuse spring flex clip. Replace spring flex clip after disassembly. 3. Before disconnecting the cylinder hoses, have the replacement cylinder ready. 4. Once the cylinder hose or the port plug has been removed, do NOT move the cylinder rod. This will cause fluid to squirt out of the ports.
Page 8 of 50 5. Install a new O-ring onto the cylinder hose 6. Install the hose into the cylinder port. Press down on the hose until the hose is fully seated in the cylinder 7. Install a new cylinder hose retainer clip. Inspect the retainer clip to ensure that the clip is fully seated around the hose 8. After repairs, tighten the hydraulic pump bypass valve. Refer to Folding Top Pump Bypass Valve Pressure Release Adjustment. 9. Inspect the fluid level and add fluid as needed. Refer to Folding Top Fluid Addition. 10. Inspect the folding top for proper operation. Using a suitable tool, remove the ball socket ends from the assembly: 1. Release the hydraulic pump pressure. Refer to Folding Top Pump Bypass Valve Pressure Release Adjustment. 2. Use a small flat-bladed tool to lift the retainer spring flex clip. 3. Do not reuse spring flex clip. Replace spring flex clip after disassembly. 4. Page 12 of 50 8. Remove the hydraulic compartment lid cylinder from the vehicle. REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS > ROOF RETRACTABLE PANEL STOWAGE COMPARTMENT LID CYLINDER REPLACEMENT - REAR LOWER > INSTALLATION PROCEDURE 1. Install the hydraulic compartment lid cylinders to the vehicle 2. Connect the hydraulic lines to the retractable hydraulic compartment lid cylinders: 1. Install new O-rings to the cylinder hoses. 2. Install the hoses into the cylinder ports. Press down on the hoses until the hoses are fully seated into the cylinder. 3. Install new cylinder hose flex clips. 4. Inspect the flex clips to ensure that the clips are fully seated around the hoses.

Inspect the folding top for proper operation. 11. Install the rear compartment trim panel. Refer to TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR WINDOW SHELF. 12. Install the rear compartment side trim panel. Refer to Folding Top Retainer Strap Installation Position. IMPORTANT: 1. Do Not reuse spring flex clip. Replace spring flex clip after disassembly. 2. Before disconnecting the cylinder hoses, have the replacement cylinder ready. 3. Once the cylinder hose or the port plug has been removed, Do NOT move the cylinder rod. This will cause fluid to squirt out of the ports. 2. If replacing the pump side hoses, open the rear compartment. 3. Disconnect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical. 4. If replacing the header latch hydraulic cylinder hoses, remove the right side rear compartment trim panel. Refer to Compartment Side Trim Replacement - RH Rear (Convertible) or Compartment Side Trim Replacement - RH Rear (Coupe/Sedan).
Page 17 of 50 Fig 1: View of Folding Top Pump 5. Release the hydraulic pump bypass valve pressure (1). Refer to Folding Top Pump Bypass Valve Pressure Release Adjustment. 1. Place shop towels under the hydraulic cylinder lines before disconnecting. 2. Place a protective cover over the rear compartment interior and the adjacent body panels. IMPORTANT: When replacing the roof side hoses, Do Not disconnect hoses at the pump. 6. If replacing the main side rail link cylinder hoses, remove the left side and front rear compartment trim panel. Refer to COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (CONVERTIBLE) or COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (COUPE/SEDAN) and COMPARTMENT FRONT TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR
Page 18 of 50 Fig 2: View of Folding Top Pump 7. Disconnect the two quick releases (3) from the folding top cylinder valve. 8. Locate the pair of cylinder hoses that need replacement. Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Cylinder Hose Identification. 9. Disconnect the hose set from the cylinder valve, by removing the retaining screw (1 or 2) and then pull outward from the valve. 10. Install a new O-ring on each hose that was removed. 11. Install the new hoses to the cylinder valve until fully seated. NOTE: Refer to Fastener Notice in Cautions and Notices. 12. Install the hose retaining screw to the cylinder valve
Page 19 of 50 Tighten Tighten the bolts to 5 N.m (44 lb in). 13. Connect the two quick releases (3) to the folding top cylinder valve. Fig 3: View of Hydraulic Line Connectors 14. 15. Connect the new header latch cylinder to the hydraulic line connectors (1, 2). 16. If replacing the roof side hoses only, go to step 40.
Page 20 of 50 Fig 4: View of Folding Top Pump 17. Remove the nuts (2) that attach the hydraulic pump bracket to the floor pan. 18. Disconnect the electrical connector from the folding top control module, motor, solenoids and the pump bracket.
Page 21 of 50 Fig 5: View of Pump Manifold 19. Rotate the pump outward, to access hydraulic lines manifold bolts (1). 20. Remove the bolts (1) from the pump manifold plate. Identify the hose numbers to be replaced. 21. Remove the reservoir filler plug.
Page 22 of 50 Fig 6: View Of Manifold Plate 22. Carefully lift up on the manifold plate (1). 23. Locate the pair of cylinder hoses that need replacement. Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Cylinder Hose Identification. IMPORTANT: Remove the two hoses connections one at a time. Repeat the following procedure for the second hose. 24. For each set of hoses being replaced, remove one hose by pulling straight up from the pump. Use a clean shop towel to control any hydraulic fluid leakage. 25. Push the hose back through the manifold plate.

Page 31 of 50 Fig 15: Aligning Cylinder Hoses 36. Align the manifold plate bolt holes to the holes on the pump. This will ensure that the cylinder hoses are placed in the correct port. 37. Align the cylinder hoses into each port and push down until the hoses are seated properly in the hydraulic pump manifold.

Page 33 of 50 Fig 17: View of Pump Manifold 39. Install the manifold plate bolts (1). Tighten Tighten the bolts to 10 N.m (89 lb in). IMPORTANT: 1. If you are replacing hose sets for more than one cylinder, complete the procedure for one cylinder before you begin with another. 2. If replacing any of the pump side quick release hoses, hydraulic cylinder removal is not necessary.
Page 34 of 50 40. Remove the hydraulic cylinder from the mounting location. Do NOT remove the hoses from the cylinder at this time. Refer to the following procedures. 1. Folding Top Header Latch Hydraulic Cylinder Replacement 2. Folding Top Side Rail Link Cylinder Replacement - Main Rail 3. Roof Retractable Panel Stowage Compartment Lid Cylinder Replacement - Upper 4. Roof Retractable Panel Stowage Compartment Lid Cylinder Replacement - Rear 5. Roof Retractable Panel Stowage Compartment Lid Cylinder Replacement - Rear Lower IMPORTANT: Improper hose routing can lead to hose failure as a result of rubbing or pinching. 41. Route the new hose set to the cylinder in the same way as the set being replaced. IMPORTANT: Remove only one fastener at a time so that the amount of slack between fasteners can be exactly duplicated between the hose sets. 42. Depending on the hose set, you may have to remove and replace the following components: 1. The tie wraps 2. The P-clips 3. The wire loom 4. The conduit

You will repeat this entire procedure for the second hose later. Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Cylinder Hose Identification. 43. Use a small flat-bladed tool to release the retainer flex clip (1) from one of the cylinder hoses.

Page 38 of 50 Fig 21: Identifying Cylinder Hose O-ring IMPORTANT: Use caution when removing O-ring from the cylinder, steel tools can scratch the O-ring sealing surface inside the cylinder which could cause a leak. 46. Remove the cylinder hose O-ring (1) from the cylinder.

Inspect the retainer flex clip to ensure that the flex clip is fully seated around the hose (2). 50. Repeat the replacement procedure for the second hose. 51. Install the appropriate hydraulic cylinder to the mounting location. 52. Install the reservoir filler plug, if removed. 53. Position the hydraulic pump to the correct mounting location if moved.
Page 41 of 50 Fig 24: View of Folding Top Pump IMPORTANT: Apply LOCTITE Blue, GM P/N 12345382 (Canadian P/N 10953489) or equivalent to the bracket nuts (2). 54. Install the nuts (2) that attach the hydraulic pump bracket to the floor pan. Tighten Tighten the nuts to 18 N.m (13 lb ft). 55. Connect the electrical connectors to the folding top control module, motor, solenoids and to the pump bracket. 56. Remove the protective covering. 57. Tighten the hydraulic pump bypass valve. Refer to Folding Top Header Latch Hydraulic Cylinder Replacement.
Page 42 of 50 58. Connect the battery. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnect/Connect Procedure in Engine Electrical. 59. Inspect the hydraulic system fluid level and add fluid as needed. Connect a test kit J 35616 jumper switch to the actuator assembly folding top stowage compartment switch wiring harness (1) located behind the right rear trim panel next to the folding top hydraulic pump. 61. Using the jumper switch, cycle the folding top 3 times to ensure there are no leaks 62. Install the left side and front rear compartment trim panel, if removed. Refer to COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (CONVERTIBLE) or COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (COUPE/SEDAN) and COMPARTMENT FRONT TRIM PANEL REPLACEMENT - REAR.

Close the rear compartment lid. Page 47 of 50 REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS > FOLDING TOP CYLINDER VALVE DISCONNECTION > REMOVAL PROCEDURE CAUTION: Refer to Eye Protection Caution in Cautions and Notices. CAUTION: Refer to Servicing Electrical Components Caution in Cautions and Notices. CAUTION: Refer to Folding Top Hydraulic Pressure Caution in Cautions and Notices. IMPORTANT: Wait 5 minutes before separating the hydraulic cylinder lines or connectors. Once the folding top cylinder valve line has been disconnected, DO NOT move any cylinder rods. This will cause fluid to squirt out of the ports and lines. 1. Remove the reservoir filler plug. Refer to Folding Top Fluid Addition. 2. Remove the rear compartment left side trim panel. Refer to COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (CONVERTIBLE) or COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (COUPE/SEDAN). 3. Remove the rear compartment front trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Front Trim Panel Replacement. 4. Place a protective covering over the rear compartment interior and the adjacent body panels.

Refer to COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (CONVERTIBLE) or COMPARTMENT SIDE TRIM REPLACEMENT - LH REAR (COUPE/SEDAN). 6. Install the rear compartment front trim panel. Refer to Rear Compartment Front Trim Panel Replacement.
