Tomatalk September 2014 Volume 39 ~ Number 9 The Tomatalk is published monthly by the Minnesota Chapter 13 of the Pontiac Oakland Club International. The Tomahawk Chapter was founded in 1977. The chapter is dedicated to the preservation and enjoyment of Pontiac, Oakland and GMC vehicles of all years and models, stock and modified. Club events are organized for the enjoyment of our members. All letters to the editor should be signed. Articles, letters and editorial content represent the opinions and viewpoints of the authors and not necessarily that of the Tomahawk Chapter or POCI. web site: tomatalk.org Tomahawk Chapter Officers President - Tony Miller 8044 Wood Duck Tr. President s Message Our August meeting was at the Peppermint Twist and we had a nice turnout from members who drove their cars. The drive-in loved it and took pictures of the cars and the meeting and will be posting it to their website. Members are still talking about where to have the 2016 POCI Show and currently the preference is to head to Southern Minnesota. Some information has been presented to the Club but nothing has been finalized as of yet. If you have additional information for us to consider, please bring it to the September meeting. Summer is now unofficially over with the passing of Labor Day and the State Fair, so there are only a few more weekends to enjoy those cars. Our next show will be at Valley Buick GMC on Saturday, September 20th and we are keeping our fingers crossed for nice weather and hope to see you all there. Tony Miller, Tomahawk Chief WANTED Feature stories for the Tomatalk newsletter Contact Paul Bergstrom pontiacpaulb@gmail.com Page 2

August Meeting Minutes We met at the Peppermint Twist in Delano with 14 members present and 7 nice cars parked at the drive in. The burger I ordered was great and our members liked the food there. Last month s meeting minutes were read and accepted. Jim Notch gave a treasurer s report and it was accepted. Old Business -The Pontiac Happening had a nice amount of cars and was a success. The featured car was the GTO Judge. The Muscle Car Classic was a nice show with a good turn out. We still have 30 wooden plaques left from our POCI convention in Spearfish. They have the Pontiac arrowhead mounted on them. If anyone has an idea or use for them please call Paul. He needs the space back. Some members discussed their recent trip to the museum in Pontiac, Illinois. known to allow some special events to occur in there downtown area in the past. Cedar Falls Raceway is about 2 hours away and Tri-State Raceway is about 3 hours. Jim suggested trying to sell some more advertising in the newsletter. $25 for a business card size ad for a year is a really reasonable rate for any automotive related businesses. We will meet at the Rosetown Legion on September 16th for the next meeting. We will discuss the Valley Show at that time. Steve Mudbird Weese Tomahawk Chapter Secretary FEATURE CARS WANTED! Want to see YOUR car featured in the Tomatalk? Contact Paul Bergstrom 763-479-2248, or email pontiacpaulb@gmail.com and we ll make it happen! New Business - Paul is going to be a grandfather! POCI Convention bid: Paul had some information from the city of Rochester. They have a fairgrounds and plenty of hotels as well as some tourist attractions. They do not have a drag strip there but have been Page 3
