FLANGED METAL-SEATED NELDISC BTTERFLY VALVES, SERIES L6 2 L6 20 Issue 1/99 Bidirectional tight seat nique all metal seat design assures superior tightness in difficult applications over long time periods. Contact between disc and seat is mechanically induced and does not rely on assistance from differential pressure. Available shutoff: Bidirectional: ISO 5208 rate 1. nidirectional: API 598 and FCI 70-2 Class VI. Excellent control capabilities Inherent flow characteristic is modified equal percentage. A nearly linear installed flow characteristic is available for many applications. Dynamic stability in both directions. Wide rangeability. Available with a variety of actuators, positioners and accessories for single source responsibility. Abrasion resistant Solid metal seat design (no fillers) offered in a variety of materials to suit your application. Fully metal-to-metal construction. No resilient parts exposed to the media. Wide pressure and temperature range Differential pressure/temperature ratings in accordance with ANSI B16.34. Appropriate constructions perform equally well from -196 C to +800 C / -320 F to +1500 F. Inherent fire-tite design Fire-tested per API 607 and BS 6755 part 2. Series L6 is a double flanged metal seated Neldisc butterfly valve for both demanding control and tight shut-off applications. It is particularly well suited for the refining, power, petrochemical and chemical industries. The L6 incorporates the Neldisc metal seated design, which provides extended life in high cycle, high temperature, abrasive applications, making it an ideal replacement for gate valves. It is available in sizes DN100-1500 / 4-60, fully rated to ANSI B16.34 for Class 150 and DN 100-1000 / 4-40 for Class 300. Flanges are designed per ANSI B16.5 for DN 100-600 / 4-24 valves and B16-47 for DN 700-1500 / 28 through 60 sizes. Rigid metal construction Rugged double flanged body. Suitable for use with API standard 601 spiral wound gaskets. Positive shaft retention. Single piece body eliminates potential leak paths associated with jointed bodies. High strength pins allow the valve to withstand high pressure drops in throttling positions. Low cost of ownership Extremely high cycle life minimizes need for maintenance. Change packing without removing actuator. Totally interchangeable seats can be replaced without disassembly of the disc and shaft. Offset shaft and eccentric disc No seat/disc contact in the open or intermediate position. Eliminates wear points at top and bottom of disc.

When the valve is closed, the elliptical disc at the major axis displaces the seat ring outward, causing the seat ring to contact the disc at the minor axis. When the valve is opened, the contact is released and the seat ring returns to its original circular shape. - 2 -

Carbon steel (WCB) not recommended for prolonged usage over 427 C / 800 F. For higher temperatures consult factory. Seat materials Incoloy 825 with hard chrome plating up to 500 C / 930 F and Avesta 248SV up to 400 C / 750 F, with hard chrome plating are available as standard seat materials (see How to Order ). Nimonic 80A is used for temperatures above 500 C / 930 F. These materials cover a broad range of applications. Other materials are also available. Please consult factory for assistance. Shutoff performance Neldisc valves are available with shutoff capability to ISO 5208 rate 1 or FCI 70-2Class V in both directions as standard, and Class VI and API 598 in the preferred shutoff direction (shaft on high pressure differential side) with the extra tight seating option. NACE L6 Neldisc valves are available to comply with NACE MR-01-75. High abrasion design A Cobalt based alloy coated disc edge, and special bearing bushings that cover the valve shaft make this valve suitable for high abrasives and media containing high concentrations of entrained fluids. Cryogenic L6 is an excellent valve for cryogenic applications. Tight sealing over a wide range of cryogenic temperatures is accomplished with a high nickel alloy seat which maintains its spring properties even in cryogenic temperatures. - 3 -

Available operators include Series B1J spring return pneumatic actuators for either fail close (B1J) or fail open (B1JA) operation, B1C double acting pneumatic actuators, and M-series manual gear operators. All pneumatic actuators are sized to operate throughout the full differential pressure rating of the valve based on 4.2 bar / 60 psi minimum air supply for spring return operators and 4.2 bar / 60 psi or 5.5 bar / 80 psi minimum air supply for double acting actuators. NB: For cryogenic applications consult factory.
