ENGINE REMOVAL Special Tools Required 2008 V6 Attachment Arm SIL02C000033* Engine Support Hanger, A and Reds AAR-T1256* Engine Hanger Balance Bar VSB02C000019* Subframe Adapter VSB02C000016* *Available through the Honda Tool and Equipment Program, 888-424-6857 NOTE: Use fender covers to avoid damaging painted surfaces. To avoid damaging the wiring and terminals, unplug the wiring connectors carefully while holding the connector portion. Mark all wiring and hoses to avoid misconnection. Also, be sure that they do not contact other wiring or hoses, or interfere with other parts. 1. Remove the both sides hood support strut, then use it as shown in illustration to prop the hood in the wide-open position. Fig. 2: Identifying Sides Hood Support Strut 2. Remove the strut brace (see FRAME BRACE REPLACEMENT ). 3. Drain the power steering fluid (see FLUID CHECK/REPLACEMENT ). 4. Relieve the fuel pressure (see FUEL PRESSURE RELIEVING ). 5. Remove the engine cover (see step 2 under INTAKE MANIFOLD REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ). 6. Do the battery removal procedure (see BATTERY REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ). 7. Remove the splash separator (see step 2 under RADIATOR REPLACEMENT ). 8. Remove the front grille cover:
2-door (see FRONT GRILLE COVER REPLACEMENT ) 4-door (see FRONT GRILLE COVER REPLACEMENT ) 9. Remove the air cleaner (see AIR CLEANER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ). 10. Remove the harness clamp (A), the bolts (B), and loosen the bolts (C), then remove the battery base (D). Fig. 3: Identifying Harness Clamp, Bolts And Battery Base 11. Disconnect the battery cables (A) from the under-hood fuse/relay box. Fig. 4: Identifying Battery Cables 12. Remove the ECM/PCM cover (A), then remove the three bolts (B) securing the ECM/PCM.
Fig. 5: Identifying ECM/PCM Cover And Bolts 13. Disconnect the ECM/PCM connectors (A) and the engine wire harness connector (B), then remove the harness clamps (C) and the bracket (D). Disconnect the EVAP canister hose (A) and the brake booster vacuum hose (B).

Remove the quick-connect fitting cover (A), then disconnect the fuel feed hose (B) (see FUEL LINE/QUICK-CONNECT FITTING REMOVAL ). Remove the drive belt: '08-10 models J35Z2 engine (see EXCEPT '08-10 MODELS J35Z2 ENGINE ) Except '08-10 models J35Z2 engine (see EXCEPT '08-10 MODELS J35Z2 ENGINE ) 18. Disconnect the power steering pump outlet hose (A) and the power steering pump inlet line (B) from the power steering pump and remove the power steering hose bracket (C), then plug the power steering hoses and the power steering pump.
Fig. 9: Identifying Power Steering Pump Outlet Hose And Power Steering Pump Inlet Line 19. Remove the steering wheel (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL ). 20. Remove the steering joint cover (A). Fig. 10: Identifying Steering Joint Cover, Steering Joint, Steering Gearbox Pinion Shaft And Steering Joint Bolt 21. Make a reference mark (B) across the steering joint (C) and the steering gearbox pinion shaft (D). Remove the steering joint bolt (E), and loosen the steering joint bolt (F), then disconnect the steering joint from the steering gearbox pinion shaft. 22. M/T model: Remove the three bolts securing the shift cable holder, then remove the shift cable and the select cable (see step 15 under TRANSMISSION REMOVAL ). Do not bend the cables excessively. 23. M/T model: Remove the clutch slave cylinder and the clutch line bracket mounting nut (see step 16 under TRANSMISSION REMOVAL ). Do not operate the clutch pedal once the slave cylinder has been removed. 24. A/T model: Remove the shift cable (see SHIFT CABLE REPLACEMENT ). Do not bend the shift cable excessively. 25. Wait until the engine is cold, then carefully remove the radiator cap. 26. Raise the vehicle on the lift. ServiceRepairManual
