ARC Member Loses His Model Work Shop to Fire Cecil's has moved from Ballinger to Colorado City. Last night at 4 Am his shop and carport behind his folks home in Ballinger burned to the ground and caught a small area of the house on fire. Damage to the house and contents was mostly smoke, water and heat damage. The cause was the electric company's line from pole to the meter frayed and broke. Cecil had over 100 model airplane engines of both fuel and gas types plus dozens of model planes and trains, motorcycle, hundreds of parts and tools of every shape in size for modeling and mechanic, woodworking, aircompressors, electric, welding etc. in the shop. Also he had about a dozen cans of nitro fuel in the shop. By the way model engines make for some supper fireworks when magnesium is supper heated and water is sprayed on them by firefighters. They could not figure out what was going off like that. They did figure out what was happening when a few hundred rounds of ammunition started blowing holes through the building. Few people think about all the hobby things and tools we have when it comes to insurance. Things add up fast. Luckily no one or dogs were hurt. Just long painful cleanup and rebuild once insurance and fire inspectors finish their long drawn out process. David Wood
