1. AISLE Shall be 12 wide minimum. BODY SPECIFICATIONS 71 passenger Body Passenger capacity 66 passenger with wheel chair lift 2. BATTERY BOX Shall be frame mounted with a slide out tray. 3 BODY BOWS Bow frame assemblies shall consist of 14 gauge hat section. The bow frames are a continuous 1-piece. 4. BUMPER Bumper shall wrap around corners of bus and be attached to the chassis frame. Bumper to be diagonally braced with minimum 4 steel tubing. 5. COLOR Exterior: National School Bus Yellow High Solids Polyurethane Type with white roof. Interior: Light Gray. 6. CONSTRUCTION Bus body must be constructed to meet all State and Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards in effect at time of manufacture. 7. COWL STEPS (2) folding steps and painted handles shall be attached to the front cowl for cleaning the windshield and lamps. (1) each side. 8. DIMENSIONS Exterior width 96 ; interior width 90. 10. DOORS Service Door: Service door shall be air operated, outward opening under control of driver. All doors shall be equipped with padding at the top edge of each door opening. The pad shall be at least 3 wide and 1 thick and extend the full width of the door opening. Emergency Door: Emergency door shall be located in the center rear of bus. Door shall be outward opening with a minimum of 24 horizontal opening and a minimum of 48 vertical opening. Door equipped with an audible buzzer, which will sound when latch is moved toward open position. Door to have upper and lower glass. Door hinges shall be greasable type. A device shall be used that holds the door open to prevent the emergency door from closing during emergencies and school bus evacuation drills. All emergency exits shall comply with applicable current EMVSS 217. Vandal locks included on rear door, front door and side lift door. 11. ELECTRICAL Wiring is to be enclosed inside removable body molding located above windows. This molding shall be removable without loosening or removing side windows. Wiring to be color and number coded. A complete wiring diagram is to be furnished. All wiring that passes through metal shall be grommeted. Metal clips required to support main body wiring harness. Body and Chassis wiring shall be multiplex. AM/FM Radio CD player PA system. Backing alarm 112 DCB. 12. EXTERIOR PANELING All roof sheets are sealed to prevent leaks. Each bus shall be completely water tested for assurance of no leaks. Exterior panels shall be primed both sides before assembly. Exterior Side: Exterior side panels shall be 20 gauge steel and double riveted to the body bow frames. (2) Emergency roof/vent hatches. 13. FENDERETTES The wheel opening shall have metal fenderettes approximately 1 ½ wide running continuously from bottom of skirt. Front and rear rubber mud flaps. Front and rear tow hooks.
14. FIRE EXTINGUISHER Bus to be equipped with (1) dry chemical type fire extinguisher to meet State Standard. 15. FIRST AID KIT & TRIANGLE FLARES Bus to be equipped with a metal type first aid kid and body fluid kit to meet State Standards and a set of triangle flares. 16. FLOOR CONSTRUCTION Cross-members shall also extend the full width of body except at the wheelhouse area. All floor cross-members are to be welded to a 14 gauge steel. Wood floor 5/8 marine plywood. 17. FLOOR COVERING Floor covering to be heavy duty gray. Floor under seats, over wheelhouses, and in driver s compartment to be covered with rubber or vinyl.125 thick. Aisle and entrance steps to be covered with slip resistant.1875 thick ribbed rubber. All floor seams must be sealed with a water-proof sealer and covered with galvanized steel strips. Floor covering along sidewalls shall be covered with metal molding. 18. FUEL TANK OPENING Exterior: Spring loaded, hinged door with latch. Access plate in floor for servicing. 19. HEATER & DEFROSTERS A heater shall be installed front of the driver. The heater to be 2-speed, fresh air type. A hot water shut-off valve shall be required easily accessible to the seated driver. 50,000 BTU step well heater/defroster. All heaters to be easily serviceable with cleanable air filters. Midship 84,000 BTU Rear heater 84,000 BTU All heater hoses to be covered with metal. A defroster channel shall fill the full length of the windshield for maximum defrosting. Booster pump. 20. HOOD Shall be fiberglass, forward tilting with quick release pins for easy removal of the entire hood. There shall be a handhold molded into the hood for ease of tilting. 21. INSTRUMENTS GAUGES & SWITCHES The body switches shall be located left and in view of the seated driver. The chassis instruments and gauges to be located within easy view of the seated driver. 22. INSULATION Ceiling, sides, and rear panels to be insulated with minimum 1 ½ thick blanket fiberglass insulation to properly deaden sounds, reduce vibrations and provide thermal barriers. Acoustical ceiling full length of bus. Thermal insulation shall be fire resistant of type approved by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. 23. INTERIOR Interior of bus shall be free of all unnecessary projections likely to cause injury. All interior panels to have lapped edges. Interior side panels to be mar-proof aluminized steel from window bottom to seat mounting rail. The interior body height from the floor to the center of the roof shall be minimum of 78. 24. LAMPS & SIGNALS All lamps shall conform to all FMVSS and state laws in effect at time of manufacture. 25. MIRRORS Interior mirror to be 8 x 30 safety glass with protected edges. Exterior mirrors shall be 7 x 10, (1) left hand and (1) right hand open view heated and remote control, Cross view (2) quadr aspherical mirrors (1) left and (1) right fender mounted. All mirrors shall be heated and comply with FMVSS 111 26. MOUNTING Bus body shall be mounted to chassis frame in such a manner as to prevent shifting. Bolts are required on each mounting bracket. Rubber mounting pads reinforced with fiber shall be used to cushion body on chassis at every floor crossing. 27. RUB RAILS Minimum of (4) rub rails. To be black. (1) 4 ¼ located below windows. (1) 4 ¼ located at seat cushion level. (1) 4 ¼ located at floor level. (1) 4 ¼ located at bottom of skirt All rub rails to be applied to exterior of body. Pressed in or snap-on rails do not satisfy this requirement. 28. SEATS Passenger Seats: All seats to be designed and installed to meet Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards. First two rows right and left side to have Integrated Child Seats. Seats to be gray upholstery, last (4) seats left side and last (2) seats right side to be track mounted 39 seats.
