Intrductin Cngratulatins n yur purchase f the Extech AN100 CFM/CMM Therm Anemmeter. This instrument measures Air Velcity, Air Flw (vlume) and Temperature. The large, easy t read backlit LCD includes primary and secndary displays plus numerus status indicatrs. Keypad AUTO POWER OFF Press t turn the meter ON r OFF MAX/MIN (fr Airflw/Air Velcity) Used t recrd and stre the highest, lwest and average airflw r velcity readings. (LEFT) als serves as change decimal pint buttn in AREA mde UNITS Press t select the mde f peratin. In FLOW mde, the meter displays air vlume. In VELOCITY mde, the meter displays air speed. (UP) als serves as increase number buttn in AREA mde. AVG Used t Average multiple readings in FLOW r VELOCITY mde. Up t 20 readings can be averaged. HOLD Press t freeze the displayed reading. Press again t unlck display. This buttn als functins as the RIGHT scrll buttn in AREA mde and RECALL mde. AREA Press and hld t manually enter the area f a duct in CFM r CMM mde NEXT In AREA mde, used t select memry lcatins 1 8. Press t turn the backlight n/ff MAX/MIN (Temperature) Used t recrd and stre the highest, lwest readings fr air temperature. C F HOLD (Temperature) Press t freeze the displayed temperature reading. Press again t unlck the display. Press and hld fr 3 secnds t switch between C and F. Meter will beep twice t indicate change. The Battery cmpartment is lcated n the back f the instrument. Operatin Cnnecting the Vane 1. The vane plug is inserted in the meter s sensr jack at the tp f the meter. The plug and jack are keyed s that the plug can nly fit in the jack ne way. 2. Turn the plug carefully until it lines up with the jack and then firmly push the plug in place. D nt apply undue frce r try t twist the plug side t side. 3. If the vane is nt cnnected t the meter r if the sensr is defective, the LCD display will indicate OL in place f a Temperature reading. Air Velcity Measurements (Single Pint) 1. Turn n the meter using the ON/OFF buttn. 2. Press UNITS buttn t select the desired unit f measure. NOTE: At pwer up the meter will display the last unit f measure previusly entered. 3. Place the sensr in the air stream. Ensure that the air enters the vane as indicated by the arrw sticker placed inside the vane. 4. View the readings n the LCD Display. The large main LCD display shws the Air Velcity reading. The upper right LCD sub display shws the temperature reading. Air Velcity Averaging Mde Side view f Vane Arrw airflw 1. T enter 20 Pint Averaging Mde, press and hld the AVG buttn until it beeps twice. The AVG icn will be displayed. 2. Take a measurement and press the AVG buttn. A single beep will sund and the HOLD icn will appear in the display. 3. The average reading will be displayed and number f readings measured will appear in the upper right hand crner f the display. After 5 secnds, the display will return t the current reading. 4. Repeat steps 2 3 until the desired number f pints have been measured. 5. T return t standard velcity measuring mde press and hld AVG buttn until meter beeps twice. Nte: In the standard velcity measuring mde, press the AVG buttn nce t recall the previus average. The average will be cleared when yu enter the Averaging Mde again. 5 AN100-EN V3.3 6/13
Air Flw Measurements (CMM / CFM) 1. Turn n the meter using the ON/OFF buttn 2. Press the UNITS buttn t select the desired air flw units: CMM (cubic meters per minute) r CFM (cubic feet per minute). NOTE: At pwer up the meter will display the last unit f measure previusly entered. 2 2 3. T begin entering the area in m r ft, press and hld the AREA buttn until it beeps twice. The leftmst digit f the bttm display will begin t flash. 4. Use the (UP) buttn t change the flashing digit Use the (LEFT) buttn t mve the decimal Use (RIGHT) buttn t select the ther digits. Side view f Vane Arrw airflw After all f the digits are entered, press and hld the AREA buttn (until meter beeps twice) t save the area int memry and return t CFM r CMM measuring mde. 5. Place the sensr in the air stream. Ensure that the air enters the vane as indicated by the arrw sticker placed inside the vane. Refer t the diagram. The large main LCD display shws the Air Velcity reading. The upper right LCD sub display shws the temperature reading. The meter has 16 memry lcatins (8 fr CFM and 8 fr CMM) that can be used t stre cmmnly used area sizes that yu can recall at anytime. 1. Press the AREA buttn until meter beeps twice. A memry lcatin number will appear in the tp right f the display indicating the memry lcatin. 2. Push the NEXT buttn t scrll thru and select the desired lcatin. Once yu have selected the desired memry lcatin enter yur dimensin Use the (UP) buttn t change the flashing digit Use the (LEFT) buttn t mve the decimal Use (RIGHT) buttn t select the ther digits. After all f the digits are entered, press and hld the AREA buttn (until it beeps twice) t save the area int memry and return t CFM r CMM measuring mde. T select and use a previusly stred dimensin, press and hld the AREA buttn until it beeps twice. Press NEXT t scrll thru the 8 memry lcatins. Air Flw Averaging Mde 1. T enter 20 Pint Averaging Mde, press and hld the AVG buttn until it beeps twice. The AVG icn will be displayed. 2. Take a measurement and press the AVG buttn. A single beep will sund and the HOLD icn will appear in the display. 3. The average reading will be displayed and number f readings measured will appear in the upper right hand crner f the display. After 5 secnds, the display will return t the current reading. 4. Repeat steps 2 3 until the desired number f pints have been measured. 5. The average will be cleared when yu enter the Averaging Mde again. Data Hld (Air Velcity/Air Flw) 1. While taking measurements, press the HOLD buttn t freeze the air velcity/air flw reading. 2. The HOLD indicatr will appear in the bttm f the LCD display. 3. Press HOLD again t return t nrmal peratin. MAX/MIN/AVG Recrd (Air Velcity/Air Flw) This allws the user t recrd and view the highest (MAX), lwest (MIN) and average (AVG) readings. 1. Press the Airflw/Velcity MAX/MIN buttn. The MAX indicatr and RECORD indicatr alng with the Max reading will appear n the LCD display and the meter will begin keeping track f the MAX, MIN and Average values. 2. Press the MAX/MIN buttn again t view the minimum reading. The MIN indicatr alng with the minimum reading will appear n the LCD display. 3. Press the MAX/MIN buttn again t view the average reading. The AVG indicatr alng with the average reading will appear n the LCD display. 4. Press the MAX/MIN buttn again t display current readings. NOTE: the meter will keep recrding MAX/MIN/AVG readings. 5. T clear and stp MAX/MIN/AVG recrding and return t nrmal peratin, press and hld the MAX/MIN buttn until the meter beeps twice. Autmatic Pwer OFF The meter autmatically turns ff after 20 minutes. T defeat this feature: 1. Turn the meter OFF. 2. Press and hld the (Backlight) key while turning the meter ON. 3. dis APO will appear in the display. The AUTO POWER OFF feature will nw be disabled. 4. Nte that AUTO POWER OFF is re enabled each time the meter is turned n. 5. Battery Replacement When appears n the LCD, the 9V battery must be replaced. 1. Discnnect the sensr. 2. Remve the meter s rubber prtective jacket 3. Use a Phillips screwdriver t pen the rear battery cmpartment 4. Replace the 9V battery 5. Clse the battery cmpartment and replace the meter s prtective jacket Battery Safety Reminders Please dispse f batteries respnsibly; bserve lcal, state, and federal regulatins. Never dispse f batteries in a fire; batteries may explde r leak. Never mix battery types; install new batteries f the same type.
