A built-in electrical interlock is to be provided to prevent motor operation during use of manual chain hoist. 4.2 ENCLOSURE Control Panel: CSA / ULC approved combination starter, Nema 4 enclosure with lockable fused disconnect, reversing motor starter, overload protection, control relays and timers, cycle counter, and all wires numbered. All panels are to be steel construction. Fiberglass panels are not acceptable. ESA approval identification required on control panel after modifications made to original configuration for overhead door use. Panel door is to be hinged with provision for a padlock. A warning sign stating the highest voltage to be encountered within the panel must be prominently displayed on the door. The door of the control panel shall include a remote push button station complete with Open, Close and Stop pushbuttons. Pushbuttons shall be NEMA style 30.5 mm flange mounted momentary contact type. Terminal blocks shall be segregated by voltage level with power, control and signal terminals grouped separately. Partitioning barriers shall be provided between different voltage levels.

REQUIREMENTS 4/ 4.3 FUSIBLE DISCONNECT Disconnecting means shall be an EEMAC rated flange operated quick-make, quick-break visible-blade, disconnect switch. Flange mounted operating handle must be interlocked with the enclosure door such that the door cannot be opened with the switch in the closed position unless a defeater is deliberately operated. Rotary switches are not acceptable Opening the disconnect switch shall de-energize all load side controller parts. Motor fuse clips shall be suitable for Ferraz-Shawmut HRC Class C, non-indicating type fuses. Provide label stating maximum fuse sizes. 4.4 MOTOR STARTER Magnetic contactors shall be CSA approved and designed and built to NEMA standards for motor starting applications and minimum size. NEMA rated and IEC designed starters will not be accepted. Reversing starters shall be provided with two contactors that are mechanically and electrically interlocked to prevent simultaneous operation. The operating coil voltage shall be 20 VAC, 60 Hz. Motor starters shall be combinational, three pole, magnetic and across the line type with an individual fused control transformer. An overload relay must be provided, complete with 3 heater elements appropriately sized to protect the motor from thermal damage. A 600/20 VAC, 60 Hz single phase control transformer shall be supplied with each starter. The transformer secondary shall be fused on one leg and grounded on the other. The transformer primary shall be fused on both legs. Control transformers shall use Bussman type CC control fuses and finger safe fuse blocks.

REQUIREMENTS 5/ 4.5 CONTROL PANEL WIRING Power wiring must be a minimum of #2 AWG stranded copper. Control wiring to be a minimum of #4 AWG stranded copper. Provide 600 volt insulated single conductor, stranded (seven strands minimum) copper heat and flame retardant wiring rated 05 deg. C. Provide extra flexible wired for door mounted items. Provide wiring in continuous lengths, without splices between connection points, installed in channels or neatly tied and clamped to panel. Terminate all wiring on terminal blocks if not terminated on devices. No more than one () wire at any one terminal is acceptable. Identify all wires at both ends with permanent sleeve type wire markers, with wire numbers as shown on the manufacturer s control schematic drawings. Provide permanent weather, oil and solvent resistant, computer printable cable and wire markers. No limit switches are to be wired into the neutral (return) side of any relay coil, timer coil, or motor contactor coil. 4.6 GROUNDING AND BONDING Green insulated bonding conductors must be provided between the enclosure, the back panel and the door. Provide terminals for connection of bonding conductors from cables entering the panel. 4.7 IDENTIFICATION All control devices in panel (relays, timers, etc.) are to be identified as to function and voltage designation, as per prints. Rear panel at relay and timer bases is also to be identified as to function and voltage designation, as per prints. Provide one set of electrical schematic drawings / prints inside control panel.

REQUIREMENTS 6/ Relays for use on circuits related to safety devices shall be provided with unique bases than those for use on other circuits to prevent inadvertent swapping of relays. The door and control panel shall come complete with identifying name plates that indicate at minimum the door manufacturer, serial number for the door, and year of fabrication. 4.8 ENTRAPMENT PROTECTION Door operation and external entrapment protection shall comply with UL Standard 325 Door, Drapery, Gate, Louver, and Window Operators and Systems, for industrial use. Photoelectric sensor and edge device contact sensor shall provide redundant sensing of obstructions to provide entrapment protection in accordance with UL 325. Failure of either device shall not permit automatic door operation. Photoelectric sensor set complete with a mounting bracket to mount the sensor set to the rock wall, or to the door frame structure. Edge device contact sensor: fail-safe feather reversing edge c/w protective neoprene rubber loop which is fastened to the door panel on the leading edge of door motion. The following equipment shall normally be required, but should be verified with the Vale representative: Minimum of one remote station (open/close/stop) on either side of the door. This may include the remote station on the control panel side. Location of remote pushbutton stations will be dependent on main type of traffic in area. Motion sensors on each side of the door for automatic operation. The motion sensors shall be complete with a mounting bracket to mount the sensors to the rock wall, the rock back or to the ventilation wall. The motion sensors shall be suitable to detect equipment and personnel at door locations. Timer to close the door if left unattended. Adjustable up to 5 minutes. Final PLC design interconnection arrangement will be determined by the Vale Plant Electrical Authority (Site specific) and communicated as such to the vendor supplying the door control panel 7.0 INSTALLATION Install the doors in strict accordance with the manufacturer's printed instructions. The doors and frames are tightly sealed including any cable holes and steel vent duct connecting the two installations if ventilation is required. The pushbutton stations are to be securely mounted to the rock walls with back plates and clearly labeled. Location of remote pushbutton stations will be dependent on main type of traffic in area. The thru-beam, photo detector obstruction sensors installed at the base of the doors, viewing parallel to the base of the doors. The wording Fire Door or Ventilation Door should be painted on any applicable door so designed. Warning signs of appropriate size should be affixed to indicate the door is automated or remote control if so equipped.

REQUIREMENTS 8/ Install signage at all door entry points, Do Not Proceed Through Doorway While Door is in Motion (2 signs per door). Reflective tape required prominently on both sides of a door. Control panel and other devices that could be damaged by vehicle collision shall be protected by concrete bollard posts. Install sufficient area lighting around the doors so that doors are easily seen, and door controls and signage are also easily seen. Visual warning devices (amber flashing light) are to be placed in areas of highest visibility to area personnel. Audio warning devices (horn) are to be placed in areas of highest audibility to area personnel. Main control panel is to be installed on level ground with secure footing, maintaining a minimum of meter of clearance about the panel.
