INTRODUCTION WA Gears Pty Ltd is a precision gear manufacturing company based in Henderson, Western Australia. We specialise in manufacturing gears and precision machined components for a wide range of industries such as the Resource, Marine, Agricultural, Printing and Defence industries all around Western Australia since 1987. WA Gears have become a trusted name in Western Australia with the manufacture of hundreds of different types of gears for various applications such as; top drive gear boxes for drilling rigs, planetary gears and sun pinions, helical reduction gears, slew pinions, over head crane wheels, worm wheel reduction gear boxes, rod handlers and various spline couplings for hydraulic motors just to name a few and with many large mining and drilling companies relying on our quality and reliability. The Managing Directors, Michael & Daniel Sussa have a combined 32 years experience in Gear Engineering, ranging from the design, manufacture and repair of gearing systems, providing specialist advice to your gearing problems. We can provide gear cutting only to your pre machined blanks or manufacture complete gears including heat treatment of the gears, to your drawings or specifications, or we can reverse engineer your broken or worn samples. We also repair all types of gearboxes made from all over the world. WA Gears produces the highest quality gears through a large range of well maintained equipment and highly professional staff. All gears manufactured undergo quality control checks and detailed planning to ensure: Material selection is to application requirements Accurate manufacture Customer satisfaction WA Gears can keep drawings of your components and keep spares for your equipment therefore reducing waiting times when your equipment is down.
SPUR GEARS AND PINIONS When the teeth are cut parallel to the axis the gear is called a spur gear. Minimum tooth size : 0.5 Module (64DP) Maximum tooth size: 24 Module (1DP) Minimum diameter: 5mm Maximum diameter: 1400mm Maximum Face Width: 240mm Materials supplied in: Case Hardening, High Tensile Alloy, Carbon Steel Cast Iron, Stainless steel, Nylon, Acetal & Bronze
HELICAL GEARS Helical gears are used to connect shafts where the axes is parallel or crossed and surface speeds are high or where the load on the teeth is heavy for the size of tooth. Minimum tooth size : 0.5 Module (64DP) Maximum tooth size: 16 (1.5DP) Minimum diameter: 5mm Maximum diameter: 1400mm Helix Angle: 1 45 Degree Materials supplied in: Case Hardening, High Tensile Alloy, Carbon Steel Cast Iron, Stainless steel, Nylon, Acetal & Bronze
WORMS & WORMWHEELS Worm wheels have teeth cut at an angle to the axis. The diameter and the teeth is shaped to wrap around portion of the worm shaft, which is similar to a screw thread. Worm gears are generally used when large speed reductions are needed. Maximum Diameter: Single & Multi start to 1200mm Materials supplied in: PB1 & AB1 Bronze, Cast Iron, Nylon, Case Hardening
BEVEL GEARS Bevel gears are gears which are conical in shape and generally run at right angles but also can be made to run on specific angular orientations. Maximum Diameter: 600mm ( Dependent on Ratio and Pitch) Materials supplied in: Case Hardening, High tensile Alloy, Carbon Steel Stainless Steel, Bronze, Cast Iron & Nylon We Can also supply Spiral Bevel gears using our trusted suppliers.
GEAR GRINDING Gear Grinding eliminates distortion from heat treatment. The improved surface finish gives a smoother rolling action, less noise and vibration. The load distribution is also more uniform across the tooth profile to support extended gear life. Minimum tooth size: 1.5 Module Maximum tooth size: 12 Module Maximum face width: 220mm Maximum diameter: 630mm We can also have the capability to crown gear teeth for centralized load distribution.
INTERNAL GEARS AND PLANETARY Internal gears have teeth cut in the internal surface of a cylinder and meshes with spur or helical gears. Internal gears are often used in applications involving planetary gear drives and gear couplings. Minimum tooth size : 0.5 Module (64DP) Maximum tooth size: 10 Module (2.5DP) Minimum diameter: 75mm Maximum diameter: 1000mm Materials supplied in: Case Hardening, High Tensile Alloy, Carbon Steel Cast Iron, Stainless steel, Nylon, Acetal & Bronze
INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL SPLINES Internal Splines: to 1000mm Diameter, Including Blind Hole Splines. External Splines: shafts and hubs to 2000mm Long ( Exact Diameters and length of cut will depend on blank/job configuration) Materials Supplied in: Case Hardening, High Alloy Steels, Carbon Steels.
SPECIAL SPROCKETS & TIMING PULLEYS We have tooling to manufacture a wide range of Sprockets and timing pulleys Maximum Diameter: 1400mm Profile Types: British & American roller chain, BT, AT, HTD, Synchronous Maximum Pitch: 2.5 Inch Materials supplied in: Case Hardening, High tensile Alloy, Carbon Steel Stainless Steel, Bronze, Cast Iron, Nylon
HUBS AND COUPLINGS We can machine various types of gearbox couplings and brake disc hubs to suit customers individual gearbox requirements. Maximum Diameter: 700mm
GENERAL MACHINING We also provide a precision machining service such as Shafts, bushes and all types of thread cutting. Our Workshop houses 4 lathes the largest having 2 metres between centres, plus CNC capable turning and EDM wire cutting. 3 milling machines, 3 slotting machines up to 320mm stroke, thread milling and various precision grinding machines such as cylindrical, rotary surface and internal grinding. Turning: 660mm Dia x 2000mm long CNC Turning: 250mm Dia x 300mm long CNC Wirecut 300mm x 300mm Milling: 1000mm long Slotting: 1000mm Dia x 320mm stroke Cylindrical Grinding: 250mm Dia x 700mm long Internal Grinding: 350mm Dia x 200mm long Rotary Surface Grinding: 300mm Dia
