CLNTARF, BRISBANE. P.. Box 122, BH13SY FITTING INSTRUCTINS REPLACES: 18.02.03 REVISED: 21.08.10 Check installation hardware before commencing. NTE: Treat all drilled holes with rust inhibitor. 1. Lift Bonnet. VY SS BIG TUBE PRTECTIN BAR VEHICLE FRNTAL PRTECTIN SYSTEM (VFPS) FR AIR BAG AND ADR CMPLIANT VEHICLES 2. Bumper cover is to be removed. Three PK screws at top of grille, two plastic PK clips under number plate area, two PK self-tapping screws (each side) one at top and one at bottom of bumper cover side returns. Unclip at sides by pulling bumper cover outwards. See figure 1. NTE: Disconnect fog lights. 3. Remove horns. 4. Remove two upper plastic clips from air dam. 5. Remove steel bumper cover support from chassis. 6. Remove headlights. Three 10mm head bolts per light. Remove radiator plastic cover to access rear bolt on passenger side (Not on all models). D NT DISCNNECT WIRING. Splice ECB indicator/park light wiring (supplied) into original wiring. Use cable locks (supplied). Feed ECB wiring down under headlight for later fitment to ECB indicator/park light. See figure 2. Refit headlight assembly. 7. Position steel mounting s (supplied) over studs on bumper cover support. See figures 3 & 4. Attach steel mounting to the bumper cover support using the 3/8 x 1 ¼ bolts, washers on 400mm wire (supplied) i.e. feed bolts through end of bumper cover support to protrude out through steel mounting s. Attach washers/nuts (supplied) FINGER TIGHTEN NLY. 8. Re-attach bumper cover support to chassis. Reattach horn/s See figures 5, 6 and 7. Use original nuts FINGER TIGHTEN NLY. 9. Ensure steel mounting s are centred on vehicle. The distance between the mount angles should be approximately 620mm (check protection bar measurement for protection bar to mount on inside of steel mounting s). TIGHTEN ALL NUTS. NTE: Ensure any fluid/air conditioner lines are well clear of steel mounting s. Bend lines clear if necessary. 10. Attach steel angle s to captive nuts on steel mounting s using three 10mm flat washers (each side) (supplied) to space steel angle 9mm from steel mounting. See figure 8. Push hard up against bumper cover support and TIGHTEN. See figure 9. Note position of off centre slot hole. See figure 10.. Copyright ECB Pty Ltd 2010 1
CLNTARF, BRISBANE. P.. Box 122, 11. Using the steel angle s as a guide drill a 10mm hole (each side) through bumper cover support. Be sure to drill in centre of slot hole. Treat raw metal with a rust inhibitor. See figure 11. Feed 3/8 x 1 ¼ bolts/washers on 400mm wire in from end of bumper cover support. Attach washers/nuts FINGER TIGHTN NLY. Then remove the 1-½ bolt, nuts and spacer washer. See figure 12. 12. Position steel support s behind steel mounting s. Use 3/8 x 1 ½ bolts, nuts and washers (supplied). See figure 13. Ensure support is hard against chassis. TIGHTEN T STEEL MUNTING BRACKETS. 13. Using support as a guide drill a 10mm hole through chassis. See figure 14. Feed 3/8 nuts, washer on wire in through front of chassis. See figure 15. Use 3/8 x 1 ½ bolt and washer. TIGHTEN. 14. Bend wire on all bolts around chassis and crimp with pliers so wire is held tight to avoid rattling, trim off any excess wire. See figure 16. 15. Reattach air dam on SS models. See figure 17. 16. Trim bumper cover to fit around steel angle. See figure 18. 17. Reattach bumper cover to vehicle. Re connect fog lights 18. Attach round light trims (supplied) into fog light cut outs. Fit 6mm clip lock trim (supplied) to rear of protection bar and 3mm clip lock trim (supplied) to skirt. NTE: Trim off lower edge on 6mm trim on an angle so trim will sit flush with end of protection bar. See figures 19, 20, 21 and 22. 19. Attach ECB protection bar to inside of steel mounting s. Use 3/8 x 1 ½ bolts and nuts (supplied). Reattach steel angle over protection bar alloy mount. FINGER TIGHTEN NLY. See figure 18. 20. Level protection bar with vehicle. See figures 23 for side views. TIGHTEN front bolts/nuts firstly and then TIGHTEN steel angle to bumper cover support, then TIGHTEN all other bolts and nuts. 21. Connect indicator / park light wiring and CHECK PERATIN. ENSURE NUMBER PLATE IS CLEARLY VISABLE Note: When fitting/refitting the licence plate to the vehicle, ensure there is no obstruction to licence plate vision in accordance with local authorities. If required relocate licence plate to an alternate location. Further VFPS Notes: a) Do not attach VFPS to the vehicle using anchorages not intended for this purpose (e.g. engine mounting bolts). b) Do not use this product for any vehicle make or model, other than those specified by the VFPS manufacturer. c) Do not remove the plaque or label from the VFPS. d) Do not modify the structure of the VFPS in any way. e) No accessory or fitment should project forward of the VFPS forward profile. f) ENSURE THESE INSTRUCTINS ARE LEFT WITH VEHICLE WNER AND/R PERATR..
