Symbol Description To avoid injury, death of personnel ordamage to instrument, the operator must refer to an explanation in the User smanual. ------ Direct current 2. Inspection of the Product On delivery, check the flowmeter for damage, possibly due to improper shipping conditions. Con - firm that the model code on the data plate match your purchase order. 3. Storage 1) Store the flowmeter without unpacking it if possible. 2) Select a storing place free of water, moisture, corrosive atmospheres, impact shock and vibration. 3) Ambient temperature should be between 0 C (32 F) and +50 C (122 F), and humidity between 5 and 90 % R.H. without condensation - preferably around 25 C(77 F) and 65 % R.H.. 4) If a used flowmeter must be stored, completely drain liquid and wash the meter body. 4. General The VF-3000 Flow Sensor offers a cost-effective instrument for the measurement of liquid flow. simple and clean design makes the VF-3000 a good choice for the measurement of ultra-pure water, DIW(de-ionized water) in semiconductor manufacturing plants. Page 1
www.malema.com Features Simple and Compact Design The VF-3000 Flow Sensor is assembled with a few pieces of components. The sensor body and Shedder bar (generator) are molded as one component. Designed for Cleanness Sensor body is made of New PFA (420HP-J) and is designed to eliminate deposits. No Maintenance Cost Since the VF-3000 has no moving parts,no maintenance is needed. Low Pressure Loss A combination of straight flow path and Shedder bar gives a lower pressure loss compared with other types of flowmeters. Linear Output Output signal is proportional to a volumetric flow rate. CE Marking The VF-3000 meets the EC directive for CE marking. Operating Principle A bluff body or Shedder bar in the flow generates a street of vortices downstream. The VF-3000 Flow Sensor measures the flow rate by counting the number of vortices with a piezo electric sensor. Piezoelectric element Shedder bar Sensor Vortices Figure 1. 5. Precautions for Installation 1) The fluid to be measured should be clean low viscosity liquid, such as water, pure water, noncorrosive chemicals. 2) Ambient temperature should be from 0 C (32 F) to 50 C (122 F). Protect a flowmeter from the direct sun light and heat radiation as well as freezing. 3) Do not install the flowmeter close to electromagnetic noise sources such as pumps, motors, or solenoid valves. If unavoidable, protect the Flow meter with magnetic Shield. 4) Avoid mechanical vibration as far as possible. 5) Check flow direction and make sure the tube is completely filled with liquid. The flow direction of flowmeter is indicated with an arrow mark mold ed on the meter body. 6) When fluid may contain some air bubbles and flow rate is relatively low, we recommend a verti cal piping with upward flow for the installation of flowmeter. Air bubbles may stay in a horizontal piping and cause measurement errors. 7) A flow control valve should be installed in the downstream side of the flowmeter for stable measurement. The line pressure at the Flowmeter should be 50 kpa (7psig) or higher. 8) Do not carry a flowmeter by holding its signal cable; the termination of the cable can be broken. 9) Do not conduct an insulation resistance test or dielectric strength test; the electronics of flowmeter can be damaged by the test. 10) Use the flowmeter within the operating pres sure shown in the diagram below. 8. Operation 1) After checking the connections for leakage, open the valve slowly to start operation. 2) In the beginning, indication may fluctuate due to the air entrapped in the tube. Release all air bubbles by closing and opening the valve several times. 3) Check the tightness of connections for a short period after starting operation. Tighten the nuts if necessary. 4) When cleaning the body or any other part of the instrument, use a soft and dry cloth always. 5) The customer s repair of the flowmeter shall void the guarantee. In case of troubles or repair, please contact the agent from whom this flowmeter was purchased or our sales office for send back repair. www.malema.com Caution Avoid a sharp increase in flow rate or pressure, which may damage the flowmeter. 9. It implies the regulation for impulse withstand voltage. II applies to electrical equipment which is supplied from the fixed installation like distribution board. Pollution degree describes the degree to which a solid, liquid, or gas which deteriorates dielectric strength or surface resistivity is adhering. 2 applies to normal indoor atmosphere. Normally, only non-conductive pollution occurs. occasionally, however, temporary conductivity caused by condensation must be expected 12.
