April-June 2013 www.tractors.com.sg VOLUME 37 THONG HUAT BROTHERS (PTE) LTD FINDS CAT MACHINES DURABLE AND RELIABLE Thong Huat Brothers (Pte) Ltd (THB), one of the oldest civil engineering and building contractors in Singapore was started by five brothers more than 50 years ago and is an esteemed customer of Tractors Singapore Limited (authorised Cat dealer for Singapore, Maldives and Christmas Island, Indian Ocean). Over the years, the company led by 87 year old Mr Ong Tong Yong, Managing Director of THB, has been in the forefront of the construction industry, and is a contractor recognized for quality, reliability and productivity in all their projects. For two consecutive years in 2011 and 2012, THB was awarded the HDB Construction Award. The award "recognizes contractors who deliver quality products through innovative solutions while upholding high construction standards" and for "demonstrating excellence in design and construction quality in the development of HDB projects." A young Mr Ong Tong Yong with his Cat motor grader Thong Huat Bros' Cat 966H Wheel Loader at work Mr Ong strongly believes in mechanization and productivity. Since the early years of the company when he started with new Cat 933G and 955K Track Loaders, Mr Ong has continued to invest in the best equipment available for all his projects. Today, new Cat 336DL and 320D Excavators, and 966H Wheel Loaders form part of his fleet of Cat machines. At the Punggol Way road project, Cat 336DL and 320D Hydraulic Excavators, and Cat CS533E Vibratory Compactors are working to complete the project soon. For the current HDB Upgrading and new HDB building projects at Ang Mo Kio, Punggol and Bukit Panjang, Cat 303CR Mini-Excavators and TH62 telehandler carry out most of the jobs at site.
The newly acquired Cat TH407 Telehandler prepared at TSL Thong Huat Bros' 11-year old Cat TH62 Telehandler, still performing reliably. The TH62 telehandler was purchased 11 years ago at TSL's Customer Day and has been so very durable and reliable that Mr Ong recently signed an order with Tractors Singapore Limited's Sales Engineer, Edmond Loh for the latest model, the Cat TH407 Telehandler. Equipped with quick coupler bucket and pallet fork, the TH407 is able to lift pallets of material up to 7.3 metres. In a variety of applications, Cat telehandlers prove to be the machines of choice. They are the best machines where lift and reach are combined. By simply exchanging the forks with other work tools, these machines will operate all day and in all phases of work. Their versatility and high performance will increase productivity and reduce the investment needed for the purchase of additional specialty equipment truly giving Thong Huat Brothers maximum returns on their investment. Mr Ong commends Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) for the strong aftersales support provided to Thong Huat Brothers... a result of the long and close relationship built up over many years between his and TSL's parts and service support staff. IN THE VAST OCEAN, EVEN A MIGHTY RIG NEEDS HELP! CAT POWERED LIFTBOATS FULFILLS THE REQUIREMENT
TRIYARDS SSY facility in Vietnam TRIYARDS, a Singapore registered global offshore contractor and provider of integrated offshore solutions to the oil and gas industry, is a much valued customer of Tractors Singapore Limited (authorized Cat dealer for Singapore, Maldives and Christmas Island, Indian Ocean). TRIYARDS' core businesses are in marine (shipbuilding, ship repair and conversion), offshore engineering and fabrication and offshore equipment fabrication. The Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) sales and project teams work in tandem with their counterparts at TRIYARDS on numerous projects currently and over the past years. TSL's track records with its packaging of Cat generator sets is a result of its sales and project personnel understanding their customer's concerns and requirements of each project's specific needs and making sound recommendations whilst bearing in mind - TRIYARDS' Vision Statement to be the preferred engineering, ship construction and fabrication solutions provider to the offshore oil and gas, and marine industries globally plus its Mission Statement to consistently create value for its clients by providing quality, cost-effective products on time and on budget. A recent project which TRIYARDS successfully constructed and delivered is a self-propelled liftboat which was built in their Vietnam yard. This vessel is powered by a combination of Cat 3512C main generator and Cat C18 harbour-emergency generator. Cat 3512C (left) and Cat C18 (right) generator sets undergoing customized packaging at TSL's workshop The rugged reliability of these robust diesel generator sets, designed for prolonged life and excellent fuel efficiency with its precise injection metering in its electronic unit injector, offer TRIYARDS unsurpassed performance and durability to keep its vessels running. These engines deliver high power output, proven reliability, excellent fuel efficiency and will provide the owner with economical operating costs. The Cat-powered liftboat was successfully commissioned and is presently working in international waters.
Akin to a cleaner wrasse, the fish that diligently works on the majestic whales and great sharks, a Liftboat is a self-propelled, self-elevating, multi-purpose craft with a large open deck which can carry equipment and supplies in support of various offshore mineral exploration and production or offshore construction activities. This vessel (also known as a jackup barge, lift barge, or jack-boat) can rapidly raise its hull clear of water on its own legs thus providing a stable platform from which maintenance and construction work may be done. Liftboats are commonly used to perform maintenance on oil and gas well platforms. It usually maneuvers on the unobstructed side of the platform, lowers its legs and jacks up out of the water. TRIYARDS recently obtained yet another repeat order for several units of its liftboats. Once again, TSL, being its preferred vendor will supply Cat packaged gensets for these vessels. One of TRIYARDS' liftboats en route to its destination TRACTORS SINGAPORE'S MARINE CUSTOMER DAY As part of its continuous effort to effectively engage and support marine customers, Tractors Singapore Limited (TSL) - authorized Cat dealer for Singapore, Maldives and Christmas Island (Indian Ocean) - and Caterpillar Marine Power Systems Asia Pacific organised Marine Customer Day.
