HOG Sounder Sponsored by Harley-Davidson of New Port Richey New Port Richey HOG #1027 HOG Sounder Vol. I V April 2016 Reflections..Director, Frank Crawford March has come and gone, and has been a good month for New Port Richey HOGS! Thank you Kellie and your LOH ladies for making our spring fling a success. Couldn t have done it without your hard work. Seems that all who attended had a really great time, and we are all looking forward to next years event. Send an officer any ideas you have for the 2017 theme! I have had some comments that you folks would like some more rides on the calendar. Where would you like to go? Short rides? Long, weekend rides? Overnighters to a specific locations? You have some great road captains to pull from, so let them know what you want! Rides to nowhere? Ride Warrior stop rides? Bike nights? Ride to an activity such as bowling, kayaking, dinner cruise? Your captains want your input. Don t forget, you can set up and plan a ride and ask for a road captain to lead it. Our picnic and the Dealer Appreciation Luncheon for the crew at New Port Richey Harley-Davidson are coming up, as well as some fun activities the LOH is cooking up. Go to an LOH meeting and check out what is going on! For attending a Group Riding Class (see calendar here and on the website) you will earn an extra 100 points, as well as a cool patch, and some great tips on how our HOG Chapter rides as a group. Visit our sponsor, New Port Richey Harley-Davidson often. There is always something happening there, and on the weekends there is always Grill & Chill, with free burgers and hotdogs, and live music or a DJ both days. Every 3rd Saturday enjoy a Pancake Breakfast for $5, and then live music, free lunch and a World Famous Bikini Bike Wash! Say hello to Big George and be sure to thank him for his support of our chapter. Every wonder where the prizes and $25 gift cards come from that are given away at our meetings? Big George donates them every month! Always check the website calendar for updates, cancellations, and additions, as things may change according to weather, illness or emergencies. Your road captains are all volunteers, as are all officers, and sometimes life interferes with their HOG fun! I am always available by phone, email, or txt 24/7, and am at the dealer most every Sunday for face to face chat. Talk to me! Ideas, suggestions, kudos or complaints...i will address it all on a timely basis for you! Make use of the suggestion box at our general meetings. See you at the meeting! Remember...ride your own ride, and safety is your personal responsibility. Spring Fling! AP RIL 20 1 6 Page 5

Jeff Kohler Assistant Director/Ride Warrior From the Desk of Duckman (Assistant Director Jeff Kohler) Spring weather at last, welcome to some of the best riding weather anywhere in the country this time of year! This is the reason to own a Harley in Florida. Lots of rides and activities in the chapter this month, so plan your calendar ahead to maximize your participation. The highlight of the April calendar is the annual chapter picnic on Saturday the 9th. It starts at Crews Lake Park in Hudson at 11:00 am. The chapter is providing meats, buns, soda and tea, remember to bring a covered dish or dessert for all to enjoy, show off your culinary talents! If you want to help with set up starting around 9:00 am, check with any of the Ladies of Harley for details. I'm sure your help would be greatly appreciated. The 2016 Ride Warrior patches are in and they look spectacular! Congrats again to designer Julie Crawford for a great design! Who will be the first member to garner one of these symbols of dedicated cycling? Good luck to one and all! This year's State H.O.G. Rally, "Thunder on the Ridge", is in Polk County on October 26-29, 2016. Deadline for registration is September 7, 2016. Remember to register early and make hotel/motel reservations if you plan to stay over in the area for this event. Further information is available at: www.flstatehogrally.com The next three Ride Warrior destinations for 2016 are: 22) Fort DeSoto Park (requires paid park entrance) 3500 Pinellas Bayway South St. Petersburg, FL 33715 23) Tradition Field 24) The Old Jail 500 NE 1st Avenue 525 NW Peacock Blvd Jasper, FL 32601 Port St. Lucie, FL 34986 Ride Safe, Stay Warm, and most of all ENJOY!!! RIDE WARRIOR 2016 John Ott, Safety Officer This month in Group Riding The primary job for every rider is to NOT hit the motorcycle in front of you. Most riding is done in the staggered formation. That is the bikes are staggered every bike staggered left and right in the same lane with spacing 1 second behind the bike to your right or left and 2 seconds behind the bike directly in front of you. This also pertains to 3 wheelers in the group. Regardless of the lead bike s signals, a rider is responsible for his or her own safety at all times. RIDE YOUR OWN RIDE. We ride in this staggered formation unless instructed otherwise by the Road Captain; or if road conditions become unsafe to maintain the staggered formation. Each rider commands his/ her entire area within a lane and may move to left or right in it as required. Have Fun and Ride Safe - John Page 6 T HE HO G S O U N D E R

Don Watson, Head R/C The weather has finally decided to warm up so there are more rides and activities being held, more scheduled and less cancellations due to weather. Of course next comes the rainy season. Make sure you check the calendar page on the web site as rides and activities are often added after the calendar is printed in the newsletter. You should also check the calendar and your email before you leave for a ride as sometimes rides have to be cancelled on short notice. When this happens I try to update the calendar right away and the communications officer tries to send out an email. Lately we have had lunch rides, Roadhouse rides, ice cream rides, and Cap n Frank has a nearly world famous brown bag sunset ride scheduled. Please attend if you can, a good time is always had by all. If for some reason you can t ride you are always welcome to follow in a vehicle or even meet the ride at the destination. Just remember to wear the club colors or your name tag so you can get your ride tickets. Also please remember to say a thank you to the road captain.
