48 Materials Testing Systems Servohydraulic Universal Testing Machines Series TTM 250 3000 kn The Series TTM Testing Machines are state-ofthe-art, rugged and durable designed especially suitable for high capacity testing. Available in two or four column construction capable to provide accurate, repeatable and reliable results meeting the needs of the metals, aerospace, automotive and fastern industries. For tensile, compression, fl exure, peel, shear, tear or friction tests on a wide range of different materials such as round, fl at and profi le specimens for quality control, product development, research or process development. Testing systems for brittle materials such steel or fasteners requires high stiffness load frames that minimize the amount of deformation energy that is stored in the frame. It is essential to minimize the released energy from the frame for minimum maintenance and low reaction at specimens failure. The Series TTM feature high rigid load frames either in two or four column construction with superior axial and lateral stiffness and precision aligned for advanced static testing to meet the wide variety of testing needs of laboratories and manufacturers in the fi eld of metals, automotive, aerospace, fastener industries. Features Rigid 2- or 4-column-construction providing superior axial and lateral stiffness and precision aligned. Single workspace-design with convenient working height. Double acting servo-actuator mounted on top of the crossbeam. Long piston stroke for the most convenient and easy adjustment and testing of different sample lengths. Upper crosshead movable to increase distance between grips. Actuator with anti-rotation system to prevent the natural tendency of the actuator to rotate. Digital displacement transducer for the best positioning and measuring accuracy. Chrome plated columns for easy cleaning and longest life. Manual or hydraulic operated grips available. Grip control system mounted direct at machine. Compression platens or bending/folding devices may be fi xed directly into wedge grips.

Materials Testing Systems 49 The servo actuator, which is integrated in the upper crosshead, has a long piston stroke which makes testing space accessible for easy and effi cient testing of different samples lengths. The long piston stroke meets the extreme requirements of international standards without changing the crosshead position. On piston rod end a anti-rotation system prevents the natural tendency of the actuator to rotate. All Series TTM models are equipped with a high resolution (0.82 μm) digital displacement transducer for accurate and reliable closed loop position of actuator, piston stroke control and measurement. The precision load cell is located between base platen and lower grip, providing high accuracy test after test. The load cell additionally features excellent repeatability, compact design, low temperature drift and accessible mounting. The manifold is attached direct on actuator providing close-coupled servo valve and accumulators for improved performance and reduced pressure fl uctuations. The servo valve features high force level permanent magnet linear force motor directly driving the spool. A LVDT is attached to the spool to provide spool position feedback. An internal loop is closed around the spool position. The valve provides additionally low hysteresis and low threshold, Series TTM 600-3000 kn in 4-Column-Construction low current consumption at and near hydraulic null, standardized spool position monitoring signal with residual ripple, electric null adjust and with loss of supply voltage or broken cable or emergency stop, the spool returns to its spring centred position without passing a load move position. Ergonomically design with unchanged height of lower grip and accessible test space for easy and effi cient testing. With chrome plated columns for easy cleaning and longest life. 54 Materials Testing Systems Servohydraulic Universal Testing Machines Series LF / Series LFSV 50 1000 kn Ergonomically designed machines for tensile, compression, bending or shear but also strain and other more advanced tests. The actuator of these models is integrated in the base of the machine for a compact design. Together with the optional hydraulically movable upper crosshead, it is designed to fit in laboratories with reduced ceiling height. To meet the wide variety of testing needs, the Series LF and Series LFSV is offered in different confi gurations. All options as: extended test space or distance between columns, other actuator strokes, protection device for operators safety, additional low force transducers a.s.o. are available. The Series LF and Series LFSV test systems are modular constructed and can be confi gured with a variety of grips and fi xtures, extensometers, different software packages and other accessories to suits your specifi c testing needs. The precision load cell, which is mounted on crosshead, is overload protected. In combination with the high-resolution digital controller class 0.5 according to ISO 7500-1 and other international standards can be reached. For bending the bars - at 90 between mandrel and bending rollers - at 180 between compression platens. The test consists in bending the specimens at 90 and then to bend the same at 180. The machine is designed for bending the specimens to about 90 with the mandrel folding stamp and the lower bending table. Fixing and changing the mandrels on top of the thrust cylinder is easy and practical and grants the operator a perfect interchange ability of the same. A device prevents the unlocking of the bar under test from the relevant rollers and the contrasting mandrel both during the bending and the straightening operation. The machine accepts bars up to Ø 32 mm and is supplied complete with two series of rollers, having respectively Ø 50 and 100 mm. Test, the round blank manufactured by the electro-hydraulic blanking press, is placed into an infi nitely variable centring device located in the test cylinder. After pre-selection of the sheet holder pressure the blank is drawn by a drawing punch (normally 33 mm dia.) to a cylindrical hollow part, the so-called cup. The inner diameter of the drawing die used, corresponds to the sheet thickness to be tested. After return of the drawing piston to the starting position, the cup can be removed from the test head without any diffi culty. When carrying out the Bore Expanding Test (KWI) the initial bore (in accordance with the dimensions of the tools, i. e. normally 7.5 mm or 12 mm) is applied to the sheet metal specimen by drilling and reaming. Afterwards this initial bore is expanded until a crack appears. Features The machine consists of a sturdy sheet metal housing into which the test aggregate (test cylinder with work piston, sheet holder piston) and the test tools as well as the hydraulic system are integrated. The operator s controls are arranged conveniently on a control panel. As an option, an electro-hydraulic blanking press for the manufacture of blanks for the Deep Drawing Cup Test can be fi tted into the machine housing. When carrying out the ERICHSEN Cupping Test, the sheet metal specimen in the form of strip is inserted into the test cylinder and centralised by locating diagonally. The sheet holder force of 10 kn (in accordance with the standard) is adjusted using a special regulating valve, and the actual cupping process is initiated by selecting the standardised drawing speed on the speed regulator. Since the testing machine is equipped with the function automatic stop at specimen failure the forward speed is automatically stopped when the crack occurs, so that in any case an objective test result is achieved. The ERICHSEN cupping value is displayed with an accuracy of 0.1 mm on the digital counter.
