ADJUST WHEEL DRIVE CONTROL All Models. See Figure 5.. The unit should stop immediately when the wheel drive control lever is released and not creep forward when the wheel drive control lever is disengaged with the engine running. 3. The unit s forward speed should increase as the wheel drive control lever is moved closer to the handlebar. If the unit does not accelerate smoothly or seems to slip under load, adjust the wheel drive control cable. IMPORTANT: DO NOT adjust the cable so the transmission does not return to neutral and stop the unit when the wheel drive control is released. To Adjust:. Stop engine and wait for all moving parts to completely stop.. Clean any dirt or debris from the drive components. 3. Make sure the return spring is properly connected to transmission bracket. 4. On the handlebar, loosen cable nuts away from bracket. See Figure 9. 5. Move the wheel drive cable adjuster up or down the handlebar. See Figure 9. To increase speed, move the cable adjuster down the handlebar. To decrease speed, move the cable adjuster up the handlebar.. Cable Adjuster. Cable Nuts Razor Fig 9 Figure 5 6. Check the adjustment. A. Start the engine. B. Slowly squeeze the wheel drive control lever against the handlebar. The unit should move forward smoothly and increase in speed as handle is moved closer to handlebar. C. Release the wheel drive control lever. The unit should stop immediately and not creep forward. CHECK OPERATOR PRESENCE CONTROL / BLADE BRAKE CLUTCH (OPC / BBC) HANDLE Models 976, 977 The blade must stop within 3 seconds after releasing OPC / BBC handle. If the blade does not stop, adjust as necessary or inspect and repair before using. 0840009 /5 Page 8 of 8
